Chapter 20: Chapter 20: One Punch, Blow Up the Pirate Ship

*"Akainu, we're not far now. There's a pirate flag flying on one of the ships; it's definitely a pirate ship."*

Mills, using a telescope, kept observing, and upon getting closer, he confirmed that it was indeed a pirate ship. He immediately reported to Akainu.

*"It seems like they've noticed us. Their ship is moving—it looks like they're trying to escape."*

Akainu shouted, "Chase them! We can't let them get away!"

While the elite members were busy chasing, Bruh was still observing. He didn't pay much attention to the rest, but Jon's words caught his attention. He quickly noted it in Jon's file report.

*"Pirates usually flee when encountering a warship,"* Bruh thought. "Unless it's a powerful pirate crew or reckless lunatics, most pirates will avoid confrontation with warships and escape."

The warship quickly reached the location where the pirates had just raided. What they saw was a broken-down wreck, with many bodies floating on the sea and scattered items all around.

*"Akainu, should we chase the pirates, or stay here and rescue any survivors?"* someone asked.

Akainu didn't answer but looked at Jon.

Jon shook his head expressionlessly and said, *"There are no survivors. They're all dead."*

There was no sign of life, which clearly indicated that everyone on that ship had either been completely wiped out or taken by the pirates.

*"Continue the chase."* Akainu ordered.

The warship didn't stop and continued to pursue the pirate ship. Akainu asked Jon, *"Can you sense their strength?"*

Haki, particularly Observation Haki, not only allows one to sense the presence of others but also helps gauge their strength by detecting their life force.

Akainu had awakened his Observation Haki and knew this, though his Haki wasn't as strong as Jon's, and was still in the initial stages.

Jon used his Haki seriously to confirm, *"They're not strong. Even though their numbers are greater than ours, their energy isn't powerful. We can handle them."*

*"Then there's no need to hesitate. Catch up to them."*

The warships produced by the Navy Headquarters were far superior to any pirate ship. With the full power of the warship in motion, they quickly closed the distance to the pirate ship.

This was a small pirate ship, nowhere near comparable to Jon's warship.

*"Fire the cannons. Sink them."*

With Akainu's command, many of the crew members were momentarily taken aback.

*"Akainu, are you serious? There might still be survivors from the previous ship on that pirate vessel. If we fire, we could harm innocents."*

Although Akainu was the commander selected for the mission, they were all equal at the moment, and they had the right to question bad orders.

*"That's right. We're the Navy, not pirates. We can't just kill indiscriminately."* Vetus said sarcastically.

Akainu's expression remained unchanged as he coldly replied, *"Pirates are unforgivable. They don't leave survivors, so there's no need for hesitation. Fire the cannons, and if something goes wrong, I will take full responsibility."*

He despised pirates and would never show mercy to them. If he could kill, he would.

Vetus had always disagreed with Akainu, so seeing Akainu's resolute attitude, he turned to Jon and asked, *"Jon, you were able to sense the number of pirates. You must know if there are any hostages on board."*

Jon looked at Vetus. Compared to Akainu, he disliked Vetus even more. The guy was too self-righteous and didn't realize his own faults. Now, he was attacking Akainu.

Akainu's order, while ruthless, was within his authority as the commander.

*"I sense their numbers, not with my eyes. Do you think I would know the specifics?"*

Observation Haki isn't like surveillance; it works by 'hearing' the presence of others, not by looking. Of course, it wouldn't reveal the precise details.

*"Since you've chosen me as commander, you should follow my orders. If anything goes wrong, I'll take responsibility."* Akainu said in a deep voice.

No one said anything further. The matter had been stated clearly.

*"Fire the cannons!"*

Akainu barked, and the crew members who had already prepared the cannons immediately fired. The shells flew toward the pirate ship.

*"Boom boom…"*

Most of the shells fell into the sea, but a few hit the pirate ship, causing some damage.

Seeing they couldn't escape, the pirates also aimed their cannons at the warship.

*"Intercept the cannonballs!"*

There weren't many crew members left on deck after firing the cannons, but those who remained showcased their skills and managed to block the incoming shells. None of the shells managed to hit the warship.

After an exchange of cannon fire, the warship quickly caught up to the damaged pirate ship. Just as everyone prepared for a boarding fight, Akainu's eyes flashed with cold light, and his right hand transformed into magma. He shouted, *"Pirates are unforgivable!"*

*"Great Fire!"*

"Dammit."

Jon, who was closest to Akainu, gasped and quickly dodged. He saw Akainu's arm turn into a giant molten fist, which was then fired with terrifying force. The massive molten fist slammed into the pirate ship.

The pirate ship, as if made of paper, was instantly consumed by the molten fist. Most of the ship's structure melted away, and what was left was destroyed by the explosive blast of the great fire. The sea was filled with volcanic bombs created by the magma.

Seeing this scene, everyone was stunned. Many stared at Akainu in shock. Although they all knew he was a monster, they never imagined that Akainu was this monstrous.

One punch, and an entire ship was obliterated. Not just the ship, but all the pirates aboard were probably turned to ashes.

After the shock, some were visibly displeased, like Vetus, who had been eager to make a contribution. After all, the warship had a record of their actions.

They had just been ready to kill pirates and earn merit, but before they could even use their Moonwalk, the pirate ship was already destroyed by Akainu. There was no merit to claim now.

They wanted to get angry, but looking at the pirate ship that had been burned to nothing, even Vetus, who had always disagreed with Akainu, didn't dare to speak out.

*"Akainu is truly Akainu—direct and volatile."*

Jon's eyelid twitched. He knew Akainu better than anyone here and understood the kind of person he was, but still, he was shocked by Akainu's actions.

Bruh, responsible for the records, was also stunned. After thinking for a moment, he started to record.

*"According to Jon Lyons' judgment, there were fifty-three pirates on board the ship. Hostages still unconfirmed... Akainu used his Magma Fruit ability to punch through the pirate ship, leaving no survivors..."*
