Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Kirito vs. Six Paths of Pain

Kirito never intended to harm Konan from the beginning. Having read the original story, he understood how special Konan was to Jiraiya.

In the original tale, when Jiraiya discovered that Konan had joined the Akatsuki organization, his first question to her was about the whereabouts of Nagato and Yahiko. He believed that Konan's character wouldn't lead her to such actions unless it was tied to Nagato and Yahiko.

After fighting Payne, whom he mistakenly believed to be Yahiko, Jiraiya had no intention of pursuing or fighting Konan further. He considered his task done, proving that he would only confront Konan if she continued down her destructive path.

For this reason, Kirito merely restrained Konan with vines, imposing no additional restrictions. This was why the Deva Path could rescue her so easily.

Looks like my agreement with Jiraiya is about to fail, Kirito thought.

Although Kirito respected his agreement with Jiraiya, he wouldn't foolishly abide by it in a situation where Jiraiya failed to hold back Pain. Now facing all six paths of Pain alone, Kirito decided it was time to act.

"Wood Release: Wood Dragon Jutsu!"

A massive wooden dragon burst forth from the drainage pipes under Kirito's feet, twisting its body as it lunged toward Pain.

The Preta Path took the lead, stepping forward to intercept the wooden dragon.

Crack, crack— The moment the Preta Path blocked the dragon, it coiled around him, binding him tightly.

"I'm absorbing it's chakra... but this wooden dragon is also draining my chakra and physical energy!"

The Preta Path realized that while it could absorb the wooden dragon's chakra, the dragon itself was also rapidly siphoning away his energy. A stalemate ensued, like a tug-of-war.

Because the wooden dragon was created using chakra-imbued plant seeds, the Preta Path's ability couldn't fully absorb it.

Seeing the Preta Path entangled, the remaining Pains scattered to avoid the dragon's reach.

"Wood Release: Palm Trap Jutsu!"

As the wooden dragon restrained the Preta Path, Kirito created massive wooden palms that emerged from the walls of the surrounding towers, blocking every possible escape route for the other Pains.

Realizing they were cornered, the Asura Path launched a barrage of missiles at the approaching wooden palms.

Boom, boom, boom! The explosions left scorch marks and cracks on the palms, but they continued pressing forward undeterred.

"Damn, it's so durable!" the Animal Path exclaimed. It raised its hands, summoning a hell yak with "Summoning Jutsu!"

Boom! A massive beast appeared, slamming into the wooden palms with its horns and slowly pushing through them.

"Moo—" With its immense strength, the hell yak shattered the cracked palms and cleared a path for Pain to advance toward the top of the tower.

As the hell yak collapsed from exhaustion and vanished into smoke, the Animal Path led the charge through the lingering dust, wielding a black rod.

However, as it emerged from the smoke, the Animal Path was struck with a devastating blow to its abdomen.

Standing beside him was Kirito, his body flowing with molten lava. A fist coated in magma had sunk deep into the Animal Path's torso.

"It's... so fast..." the Animal Path croaked, feeling its body twist unnaturally from the blow.

The Animal Path raised its hands in a desperate attempt to grab Kirito's wrist and restrain him, but Kirito merely scowled. A surge of molten lava coursed from his elbow into the Animal Path's body.

As the magma consumed the Animal Path from the inside out, its charred body collapsed mid-air, emitting a guttural hiss.

Meanwhile, the Asura Path unleashed another missile barrage at Kirito, followed by a powerful laser blast.

Boom, boom, boom! The explosions engulfed Kirito, reducing the top of the tower to rubble.

"Where is he?" the Asura Path muttered, scanning the area.

"Behind you!" the Human Path shouted.

The Asura Path attempted to jump away, but its feet were frozen solid.

Crack, crack— White frost crept over its mechanical body, immobilizing it completely. Kirito's form emerged behind the Asura Path, his icy aura freezing the air.

In an instant, the Asura Path was encased in ice, becoming a motionless sculpture.

"Tch. No one's coming to save you?" Kirito muttered, smashing the frozen Asura Path to pieces.

With the Asura Path destroyed, Kirito turned his attention to the Human Path, which remained rooted in place.

Zzzz— Golden lightning crackled in Kirito's palm, forming a radiant spear. Without hesitation, he hurled it toward the Hell Path at the base of the tower.

"Shinra Tensei!"

The Deva Path appeared instantly, using its almighty push to scatter the golden spear before it could strike the Hell Path.

"As expected, you're every bit as powerful as the intelligence suggested," the Deva Path said, its Rinnegan glowing. "A rare talent to wield so many bloodline limits. Even a body with the Eyes of God cannot match your inhuman abilities."

Kirito stood silently, his gaze unwavering.

"But I've already deciphered your strength."

The earlier attacks had only been a ruse for Pain to analyze Kirito's capabilities. So long as the Naraka Path remained intact, any damage to the other paths could be reversed.

Now, with the Naraka Path preparing to revive the fallen Animal Path, the Deva Path moved to buy time.

"I'll end this in one move," Kirito declared.

The Deva Path smirked. "It won't be that easy."

At the base of the tower, the Naraka Path approached the burning remains of the Animal Path, preparing to activate its resurrection ability.

Author's Note: In this chapter, "Pain" refers to the collective term for all the paths, while specific paths like the Deva Path, Animal Path, and Preta Path refer to individual entities. This clarification is provided to avoid confusion.
