Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Jiraiya vs. Pain

"Did he really expend so much Chakra just to summon those two toads? And Jiraiya-sensei's appearance has changed as well," thought the Animal Path, watching Jiraiya in the distance. "As expected, whether it's Jiraiya-sensei or Orochimaru, each Sannin possesses unique and powerful jutsu."

With Konan in the enemy's hands, the Animal Path contemplated its strategy. "To deal with Jiraiya-sensei while rescuing Konan, I'll need to summon all six paths of Pain. But it could become risky if the situation spirals out of control. Let's focus on Jiraiya first. Once he lets his guard down, we'll retrieve Konan."

Swish! With a flick of its hand, the Animal Path summoned two more Pain bodies: the Preta Path, capable of absorbing ninjutsu, and the Asura Path, armed with an array of mechanized weapons.

"What's going on? How are there suddenly two more enemies, and they also have the Rinnegan?" Fukasaku exclaimed in surprise.

"Boy, how many apprentices do you have?" Shima asked Jiraiya skeptically.

"There's only one person with the Rinnegan," Jiraiya replied, narrowing his eyes. "This must be one of its abilities."

"Doesn't matter how many there are. We just have to defeat them all," Fukasaku said resolutely.

From atop the tower, Kirito called out, "Master Jiraiya! The bigger one, Preta Path, absorbs ninjutsu, and the bald one, Asura Path, can launch weapons—it's basically a walking arsenal!"

"Got it!" Jiraiya nodded in acknowledgment but then froze as a realization struck him. "Wait... Kirito fought these two Pain bodies earlier? So, he was fighting Konan and these two at the same time—and still managed to capture Konan?"

Fukasaku chuckled. "That boy retreated unscathed against two of them. Little Jiraiya, he's much stronger than you."

"Really?" Jiraiya grinned. "Well, in that case, I can't let the younger generation show me up."

"But can that one absorb senjutsu as well?" Fukasaku asked.

"There's only one way to find out. Shima, give me some fire, and Fukasaku, follow up with the wind!"

"Got it!"

"Sage Art: Goemon!"

Jiraiya spat out toad oil, amplified by Shima's fire and Fukasaku's wind, creating a scorching torrent of boiling oil. In the confined space surrounded by towering buildings, the three Pain bodies were engulfed in an inferno within moments.

Watching the fiery devastation below, Kirito remarked from the tower, "That's incredible! I wonder how it compares to Amaterasu." Even from his elevated vantage point, the intense heat from Jiraiya's Goemon flushed Kirito and Konan's cheeks.

"It's useless," Konan said, beads of sweat forming on her brow. "No matter what jutsu it is, it's meaningless against Pain."

As the searing wave of oil surged forward, the Preta Path stepped in front of the others, raising its hands. Like a black hole, it absorbed the entire torrent of burning oil until nothing remained.

"Even senjutsu can be absorbed..." Jiraiya muttered, discarding his clogs and crouching low. His limbs transformed into powerful toad-like appendages, ready for close combat.

While Jiraiya prepared to strike, the Asura Path pulled back its wrist, launching a barrage of missiles toward him.

Boom, boom, boom! Amid the relentless explosions, Jiraiya dodged nimbly, closing the distance to the Preta Path. With a swift punch, he aimed to land a decisive blow—

Boom! But instead of striking flesh, his fist collided with the solid surface of a giant panda-shaped stone statue, summoned by the Animal Path just in time to shield its comrade.

"Damn it!" Jiraiya cursed, but before he could attack again, a hail of missiles rained down on him.

In the confined space, Jiraiya found himself increasingly cornered. The relentless missile bombardment and attacks from summoned beasts left him struggling to even dodge, let alone counterattack.

"At this rate, we'll never win," Shima said, lashing out with her tongue to deflect several incoming missiles. "We need to create a one-on-one situation. And this environment benefits them too much. We should relocate the battle."

Dodging a centipede's strike, Shima formed a hand seal, took a deep breath, and unleashed a cloud of dust: "Sage Art: Wind Release: Sand Dust!"

The swirling dust obscured everyone's vision, throwing the Pain bodies and their summoned beasts into disarray.

Though the Preta Path quickly absorbed the dust cloud, Jiraiya had already disappeared from view.

"Did he escape?" the Animal Path murmured, its Rinnegan scanning a nearby vent. Though it couldn't see Jiraiya, it could still sense his chakra faintly.

Within the ventilation ducts, Jiraiya sprinted quickly, the sound of his steps echoing faintly.

"Unbelievable," Fukasaku muttered, sensing no sign of pursuit. "How did Tsunade's apprentice survive against two of them and still manage to capture one?"

"Why not ask him for help?" Shima suggested. "With him, dealing with those three should be a breeze."

"I'm sorry," Jiraiya replied, his voice solemn. "I asked him not to interfere in this matter. Nagato is my responsibility. I have to settle it myself."

"Is this because of that prophecy again?" Shima huffed. "That old Toad Sage is always rambling nonsense."

"Don't disrespect the Great Toad Sage!" Fukasaku scolded.

"Tell me I'm wrong!"

Sensing another argument brewing, Jiraiya interrupted, "Focus, you two. Senjutsu and physical attacks are ineffective against Pain. We need a new approach."

Fukasaku thought for a moment. "If that's the case, our best bet is genjutsu."

"But you know I'm not very skilled with illusions," Jiraiya said helplessly.

"Then we'll do it ourselves," Fukasaku insisted.

"No way!" Shima protested. "I'm not singing with him at my age—it's embarrassing!"

"Get over it, woman! This is about the fate of the world!"

As the two Toad Sages bickered, Kirito stood atop the tower, watching as Jiraiya's figure disappeared into the ducts.

"It's time to move to the next stage," Kirito said, stretching.

"Bansho Ten'in!"

Suddenly, a powerful force tugged at Kirito, causing him to stagger slightly.

"What's this? Shouldn't they be chasing Jiraiya?" Kirito thought, confused.

He noticed Konan being pulled toward the Deva Path, which had appeared nearby. From the corner of his eye, he saw four other Pain bodies scaling the tower toward him.
