Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Three to One

Boom! Not long after Kirito left the hall, another large hole was blasted through the tower.

Toad Ken, wielding a harpoon, struck the pursuing hellhound with a powerful blow and leaped across the towering structures of the Rain Village with remarkable agility.

"These mutts are relentless. We need to figure out how to deal with them, Gama Ken," Jiraiya said solemnly, glancing back at the splitting hellhounds that kept merging and re-forming.

"I agree. Unfortunately, I'm not smart enough to come up with anything right now," Toad Ken replied, gripping various drainage pipes with his hands and feet as he gradually distanced himself from the pursuing hounds.

"I wonder how Kirito is doing..." Jiraiya murmured, worry evident in his eyes as his view of Kirito's direction was blocked by the towering buildings.

Fortunately, even though he couldn't see the invisible Pain, he could sense that Pain's attention was still on him. At least he didn't have to worry about Pain doubling back to target Kirito.

With only Konan to face, Kirito should be safe for the time being.

"Just a little longer," Jiraiya thought, watching as the hellhounds disappeared behind a building.

On the calm lake, Kirito smirked as he heard the Preta Path's provocation. "You're welcome to try."

As soon as the words left his mouth, the Preta Path charged, thrusting a sharp black rod toward Kirito's vital points. Behind him, Konan raised her hands, releasing countless sheets of paper that sealed off all possible escape routes for Kirito.

"How convenient—I have your weapon too!"

Clang! Kirito pulled out a black rod identical to the one the Preta Path wielded, blocking the surprise attack.

"What? How does he have a black rod?!"

The Preta Path, with its Rinnegan, recognized immediately that the black rod in Kirito's hand was no cheap imitation. It was the real thing.

The black rod was a tool of the Rinnegan. How could someone without the Rinnegan possibly use it?

Though perplexed, the Preta Path didn't falter. Realizing its attack had been blocked, it swiftly raised a leg, aiming to kick Kirito into the swirling paper shurikens surrounding him.

Kirito dodged nimbly and countered with a kick that sent the Preta Path flying.

Boom! The Preta Path crashed into a concrete wall, embedded so deeply it couldn't move for a while.

"Now's my chance!" Konan seized the opening, commanding her paper shurikens to pierce through Kirito.

Swish, swish, swish! To her shock, the shurikens passed harmlessly through Kirito's body, burning into ashes.

From the crater in the wall, the Preta Path analyzed the situation, observing the magma flowing over Kirito's body.

"Is that the Lava Chakra Mode? No, it's more than that... He's turned his entire body into lava," the Preta Path thought.

Having gathered intelligence on all the tailed beasts, the Akatsuki organization knew about the Four-Tails Jinchuriki, Roshi, who could use Lava Release. Roshi's "Lava Chakra Mode" enveloped his body in lava, burning everything it touched.

However, Kirito's technique wasn't merely a surface covering. His entire body had transformed into molten lava.

"This makes close combat a disadvantage. A long-range attack is necessary," the Preta Path concluded. "But such a technique must drain his chakra at an extraordinary rate. How long can he sustain it?"

Although the Preta Path could absorb ninjutsu, it required proximity to do so. And from their brief clash, it was clear that it was no match for Kirito in close combat.

"Konan's paper techniques are ineffective against his lava... Do I summon another Pain?" The Preta Path hesitated. "But if I do, we won't have enough forces to handle Jiraiya."

Regaining its footing, the Preta Path charged again, drawing another black rod. It saw that Konan was now struggling against Kirito's physical dominance. Her paper wings had been scorched by his lava, leaving her reliant on the floating abilities of her Dance of the Shikigami to dodge his relentless attacks.

Every time she tried to fly higher, Kirito launched explosive magma fists to block her escape.

Whoosh! As the battle raged, several missiles streaked toward Kirito.

"Adding another person now? Do they even care about splitting their forces?" Kirito scoffed, summoning a massive wall of lava to block the missiles.

Boom, boom, boom! The explosions engulfed Kirito, but Konan and the Preta Path, prepared for the blast, leaped to safety.

"That won't be enough to hurt him," Konan remarked.

"It's not over yet..."

Buzz! A brilliant laser beam descended from the sky, striking the center of the explosion.

Rumble... A sphere of light illuminated the battlefield, sending shockwaves across the lake. Massive waves crashed into the distant Rain Village blocks, toppling buildings along the shoreline.

Standing amidst the chaos, Konan shielded herself with her remaining sleeve against the searing water vapor. Once the tremors subsided, she lowered her arm. "Did it work?"

"He's unharmed. That's the power of Wood-Release..." the Preta Path replied with regret.

On the lake, a massive ghost-faced wooden coffin floated, its surface charred.

Click! The lid creaked open, revealing Kirito, unharmed, smiling at his opponents.

"Wood Release? It's true then—he uses the same techniques as the First Hokage," the Preta Path muttered.

"Nagato, we should prioritize defeating him. He's far more dangerous than Jiraiya," Konan urged, her voice trembling at the mention of the First Hokage, the "God of Shinobi."

"Don't worry. Before these eyes, all are insignificant," said a bald man with the Rinnegan, landing beside Konan.

The Asura Path raised its arm, unleashing a barrage of missiles from its wrist.

"In open spaces, long-range attacks work best. But..." Kirito clasped his hands together. "Wood Release: Advent of a World of Flowering Trees!"

Crack, crack... Thick trees erupted from the lake, walls, and pipes, transforming the area into a dense forest.

The missiles exploded harmlessly against the newly grown trees, while Kirito vanished from sight.

"Where is he?"

The Preta and Asura Paths scanned the area, while Konan scattered her paper into butterflies to search for Kirito.

"Here!"

Kirito emerged from the trees, descending like a silver comet. He kicked the Asura Path's head off before hurling its remains at the Preta Path. As the Preta Path dodged, Kirito closed the distance and delivered a devastating blow.

With Konan left alone, she attempted to flee, but Kirito pressed his hand to a tree trunk, draining her chakra.

"Impossible... He's like Nagato," Konan gasped as her chakra was completely absorbed, leaving her unable to resist.

"Come with me," Kirito said coldly. "I have a deal with Jiraiya. You're his to handle."

Konan, bound by vines and weakened by chakra absorption, could only glare in silence as Kirito carried her toward Jiraiya.
