Chapter 97: Vale Is Weak
As the creator of this world, Leon knew it better than anyone else. He knew how cruel it was and how so many suffered in it. He had witnessed everything himself and even felt it.
That was the reason he had decided to help as many people as he could, and the people struggling with corruption were definitely one of the top priorities.
It was a big reason why he had created the Clearwill Potion.
In normal conditions, this woman would be beyond saving since the balance between madness and sanity had long been broken.
But Leon saw something when she entered the cage. It was her eyes which gave her away more than anything else.
They weren't the empty, resigned orbs that had surrendered. Instead, there was struggle there, raw and desperate, a spark of someone refusing to let go even as the corruption tried to swallow her whole.
Leon couldn't help her if she gave up on herself, but this scenario was different. As long as one had the willpower to resist the corruption, even in the worst stage, he would help them.
But he couldn't do it alone in this condition.
His group understood what he seemed to be referring to as Denver said, "My sister suggested me to experience everything the world has to offer. Maybe prison is one of them."
"That's basically our home," Bella said with a smile. "We've been there a lot, but not this branch. I'll compare the facilities."
Rani nodded in agreement.
"Hmm, a first date in prison, not a bad idea," Natasha muttered to herself.
Leon could see that although they seemed to be joking, they were serious about this. He couldn't help but chuckle, "You're all morons."
"Heard it a lot of times," Denver said. "But what do we need to do?"
"First, get out of here," Leon said, and they quickly withdrew from the scene while giving a last glance to the truck.
All of their speed was fast, as even Denver had used many Soul Shards from the Flame Knight Dungeon to level up so he could keep up with them.
Leon led them to a small hilly area which was deserted and away from the hustle of the city. Still, there was a road down the hill since it was within city limits. It was usually a location where people came out to relax in nature.
For now, the cold moonlight shone upon the hill from which one could see the magnificent view of the city. Leon stopped at the top and stared at the road in the distance with a solemn look on his face.
"So, what are we going to do now?" Natasha asked. "Do you have a way to save her?"
"I can provide some help. It'll ultimately depend on her if she wants to survive," Leon responded.
If the transformation was in the initial stages, Leon was confident that his potion would work, but it was already in the later stages. It would be tough to come back from there even with the help of the potion.
His friends were surprised at his words. After all, there had been nothing before that could be done in this situation. Even if there was only a chance, it was still better than nothing.
"Why are we waiting here though?" Bella asked. "Are you sure they'll pass from here?"
"They place all the transformed Abyssal Creatures in a facility in the southern part of the city. There are a few paths they can use, but they will use this one," Leon said with a smile. "They won't use the normal roads because there's a risk that the Abyssal Creatures might go on a rampage. That's why these isolated roads were created."
He looked at the black road and said, "They'll be arriving soon. The plan is also very simple, but tough to execute. I need only 10 seconds in the cage."
"That's easier said than done," Rani said. "All four guards were strong, and that cage is also enchanted. How are we going to do this?"
"This is why I said we're going to jail," Leon said. "The guards are Tier 3, so I'll leave them to the girls. Denny, you'll handle the police. They themselves aren't strong, but they usually have nasty artifacts. Your defense is the best, so you can handle them."
He had tried seeing others' status since it worked in the Dungeon and, surprisingly, it did work in the real world too.
But the only thing it showed properly were the levels, and it would show question marks if he didn't know their names. The other limitation was that it couldn't view the power level of stronger people.
He had tried on Amber, and it didn't work. But it wasn't a problem to see the guards' levels, so he checked all of their levels when they were putting that woman in the cage.
In the first place, Vale was a small city with the strongest person being a Tier 5… well, if he didn't include his mother in it. So how could the officers and guards be strong?
Since the Abyssal Creature they were dealing with was just a Tier 2, they didn't send their strongest.
It wasn't a wonder that a Tier 6 Rift destroyed all of Vale.
"You want to distract them and buy some time?" Bella instantly understood his plan. "That won't be an issue. If it was about defeating them…"
"Authorities provide them with lots of benefits, so it'll be tough unless you're going for the kill. And that isn't our objective here," Leon said.
"I'll handle two of them," Natasha declared. "But the problem with the cage remains."
Just as Leon was about to explain more of his plan, they saw the truck with the Falcon emblem dragging the cage at a moderate speed.
"No time to explain. Just remember the plan and don't resist when they try to capture you," Leon said. "I'll handle that one."
The truck was almost there, so all of them nodded at each other and connected their AI so they could communicate better in case of emergency.
While the four of them ran down the hill, Leon went towards a boulder attached to the ground and then smashed the Galactic Baseball Bat at its base.
With a mild explosion of dust and dirt, the boulder came loose and rolled down the hill. In no time, the giant boulder reached the road, turning into an obstacle in the truck's path.
But the vehicle didn't slow down in the slightest. Instead, a beam of light shot out from the truck's front and hit the boulder, making an explosion which destroyed it in an instant.
Leon smiled upon seeing that and turned towards Bella, who had already taken out a sniper rifle. As if she had been waiting for the signal, the moment the boulder exploded she pulled the trigger.
The shot was silent, but it struck the target, destroying the smaller engine of the truck in one attack.
The vehicle was forced to a stop, and a translucent bluish barrier formed over the cage along with the truck itself. Then, three figures clad in black battle suits emerged from the blue truck and brandished their weapons.
It was time for the fight.
