Chapter 102: Save A Life
Leon swallowed back his saliva seeing the current appearance of Amber. Since they had become quite comfortable with each other, he had almost forgotten just how terrifying this woman really was.
He hadn't had time to think about it previously, so he had quickly sent a text to her when they were being arrested.
There was no other explanation.
Just a simple text.
[Help me!]
'Damn it! What in seven hells ruined her mood?' Leon cursed mentally as sweat dripped from his forehead. He collected himself and said, "It was to save a life."
Amber narrowed her eyes at him, but the crushing pressure around them lessened considerably. It was as if someone had removed a mountain from their backs.
All of them released the breath they had been holding and waited for her next words.
She gave a side glance to the others and said, "Let's go."
Then, she walked away, which finally relieved the group. They wiped the sweat off their foreheads and turned toward Leon, who had just stood up.
"T-This is your backup?" Bella asked in a trembling voice.
None of them could believe Leon actually had Amber's contact and even more shocking, that he dared to summon that demoness here.
Even Natasha was looking at him with a glint in her pink eyes.
"Uhh, I'll explain later. For now, we should leave before that volcano erupts," Leon said and received a glare from Bella.
"Are you an idiot! Don't call her that!! What if she heard us?" Bella whispered, but it was clear she was afraid.
"Chill, she ain't that bad." Leon gave them a disdainful look and walked out of the debris of what remained of the cell.
He could feel many gazes on him as his footsteps echoed in the silent police station. He ignored everyone and reached the entrance where he was forced to stop.
Why? Because the whole entrance wall had collapsed.
Only then did he truly understand why everyone was giving him so many fearful gazes. His lips twitched as he looked at Amber, who was waiting for him above the debris.
He really didn't think she would show off like this. But considering she was in a bad mood, it wasn't surprising. She was always reckless and carefree.
Sensing him, she turned her head and asked, "Do you need me to drop you somewhere?"
The question wasn't meant for him since she would definitely demand an explanation later. So Leon turned around and found his friends closely following him behind like little ducklings.
Leon was speechless.
"W-We have booked a hotel," Bella replied, gaining some courage from somewhere.
The others nodded in agreement. They didn't want to spend another moment with this demoness when she was in a bad mood.
Only an idiot like Leon could do that.
"At least have some guts to speak after beating CSA brats," Amber snorted. "Then be on your way. If you're late tomorrow, your training will be ten times worse."
They felt a chill run down their spines. Normal training was already supposed to be demonic, so what would happen if it was turned ten times worse?
They didn't even want to imagine, so they hurriedly said goodbye to Leon and ran away from the police station.
'Leaving me all alone to deal with her. Where is the deep friendship we share?' Leon's lips twitched at them, so he shouted after them, "Remember not to beat up police next time!"
He was sure he heard the sound of something falling, which certainly made him happy… until he was lifted off the ground and his scenery changed in an instant.
Nausea made his head spin as he shut his mouth tightly and suppressed the urge to vomit. He wasn't used to such fast movements yet.
"Sit!" Amber commanded as she sat down in the driver's seat of the hovering car.
Leon wiped his mouth and also sat down. Before she could even ask, he told her everything in detail, which finally made her calm and return to her normal self.
"I couldn't think of anything better at that moment," Leon sighed.
"It was a good plan. I would have probably done worse and ended up in the prison of those CSA bastards," Amber said. "Do you think she'll survive?"
"I don't know," Leon said with uncertainty. "Her state was very bad. It would be a miracle if she survived, but I'm still hoping she does."
"I'll keep an eye on that case," Amber said. "And I'll also make sure that information doesn't leak. If she survives, we can just say it was her own willpower."
Since getting the permit to sell the potions would take some time due to testing, Leon and Amber decided to announce the opening of their company on the big day of the Conclave.
Many influential and powerful people would be there, and they would certainly pay attention to Leon, so they decided to make the impact even bigger.
This was why they couldn't let the information leak for now.
"About that, I couldn't destroy the camera in the cage!" Leon said, scratching his cheek. "Time was tight, and that monster could have attacked me if I tried something funny."
Amber's expression didn't change as she said, "Then we'll just destroy the database."
"Oii!!"
"Just kidding!" Amber smiled faintly. "Don't worry about it. I'll handle these minor things. As long as it involves you saving the lives of innocents, you'll always have me as your shield and on your back unconditionally."
"I know. That's why I called you," Leon said. Then curiosity got the better of him, and he asked, "Why were you so angry though?"
"Aghh! Don't remind me, otherwise I'll smack your head," Amber groaned in frustration. "I was just starting a sweet and delicious dinner with my Angel, but her devil son interrupted us."
"Ohh!" That was all he could say in response. It was a reasonable reaction, and he could understand her. Even he would be pissed if he was deprived of his mother's food right after seeing it.
"My bad!" Leon apologized sincerely. "I'm sorry for your loss."
"It ain't no loss since we're going back immediately," Amber shrugged.
"That's true."
