My Magical System

Chapter 329: Spirits

He also heard a stumbling noise which was followed by a groaning muffled voice. Even without seeing it, he could picture in his mind what was happening inside.

'How clumsy he is,' Eman thought with a bitter smile.

When the door opened, the chief with a bloody nose appeared. "Uh, My Lord! Sorry for the delay!"

"Never mind that, take care of your bleeding nose first," Eman said exasperatedly.

"Uh, yes, My Lord!"

The village chief quickly wiped the blood on his nose and then invited them inside. While the two kids were enjoying the snacks, Eman talked with the chief in private.

At the beginning of their conversation, he asked about their livestock and crops.

Hearing him, the expression on the village chief's face looked slightly ugly.

"I think we have a minor problem, My Lord," he said in a dispirited tone.

Eman narrowed his eyes and wondered what was the problem.

"Really? What is it? Did the production not do well?"

"No, it's not like that, My Lord. The production is perfect!"

"If it's perfect then what do you mean by problem?"

"The thing is… The livestock are healthy. They grow fast and multiply quickly. We have plenty of them now. However, their increase outpaced the people's needs at an unimaginable degree. As with livestock, crops also grow rapidly. In no time we were able to store enough supplies.

I'm worried that our stored crops might just get damaged before we can consume them, we were able to harvest faster even though the stored crops have not decreased much. As for vegetables and fruits, these two products wither quickly, so they are often wasted..."

Hearing her explanation, Eman interjected. "In other words, their production outdos the consumption?"

The chief nodded hastily. "Yes, My Lord. That's what I mean. So, My Lord, I suggest that we temporarily stop producing them because there might be too many of them and it will be difficult for us to take care of them all."

Eman rubbed his chin. "I see. That is indeed a problem. But worry not. I already found a solution for that."

The village chief's eyes grew wider. "Really, My Lord?!"

Eman nodded. "Yes. It's the main reason why I am here today."

He then explained to the village chief about his plan. After listening to him, the village chief looked at Eman in more awe. For him, no way their lord is a simple person; he is a god. He could even foresee this problem.

Before the problem turned into a problem, their lord had a solution already?!

Eman told him that they were going to sell them and he already found a perfect buyer.

"Oww! That's very wonderful, My Lord!" The village chief's faith in him had skyrocketed. "Alright, My Lord, I'll inform our men to butcher some livestock and ask the women to harvest vegetables, fruits, and wheat!"

Eman quickly stopped him. "Wait, don't get over-excited, chief. You can do that later. For now, let's talk about the village and our people. Any changes from them?"

"Oh, sorry, My Lord. I've got too excited. Regarding our people, the masons and craftsmen had requested to rebuild your dwelling, My Lord. They wanted to build you a much bigger house for you."

"Is that so?"

"Yes, My Lord."

Eman pondered. Actually, he was planning to make a slightly bigger house like a small mansion. He might need to have more additional rooms in case Eina wants to stay for a day or more in this domain. He needed to make room for her. Also, Little Sky and Sol might need a bigger and more comfortable room.

"Alright, tell them I allow it. Just make sure it's not too big and fancy."

"Really, My Lord?"

"Yes," Eman nodded.

"I'm sure they'll be happy when they hear it."

The old man looked happy as well.

"And also, My Lord."

"Yes?"

"There are some sightings of unnatural beings in the woods outside the village."

"Unnatural beings?" Eman tilted his head.

"Yes, My Lord."

"Aren't you talking about the Elder's creation?"

The chief briefly shook his head. "No, My Lord. The youngsters said that those unnatural beings are called spirits."

"Youngsters? You mean Azure and Amber, right?"

"Yes, those two. Actually, according to them, they saw it with their own eyes as well. Some of the villagers also saw it in the woods."

Eman's eyes widened a bit. There was one time when Eman walked into the woods and saw Amber and Azure there. They told him about a strange creature that the System identified as wood spirits.

"Spirits…" Eman muttered. Just then, his interest piqued.

He asked the village chief more about it, regarding the spirits. However, it seemed not so many details were known. The witness only caught sight of them and no one had a confrontation with them.

He also asked if the spirits attacked the villagers or whether there was a report about getting attacked by them.

The Village Chief shook his head and confirmed that there was none. No one was reported getting attacked by the spirits.

Eman nodded and ended his meeting with the village chief. But before leaving, he made sure to remind him about the supplies.

The village chief responded with an affirmative nod. He told him that he'd tell their people right away. Eman nodded then left the village.

Eman intentionally passed by the woods on his way toward his wooden house.

Although he was worried about Little Sky's condition, he first had to take the chance of seeing a wood spirit. If the Village Chief didn't mention it, he might not remember about it. But now that he remembered about this matter, he wanted to see. Maybe he could get information that could help in the current situation of Rothsport Town.

Eman widened his range of perception by concentrating his mind. He wasn't sure if he could detect spirits presence like detecting human presence but there was nothing to lose in trying, right?

As he stepped into the woods, what entered his ears were the chirping sounds of birds and insects.

The dense branches and leaves of the trees around him, allow only a few sunrays to pass through.

He continued walking and reached the part where he saw Azure and Amber last time. It was the area near a path heading to Elder Dark Priest's domain.

As he had no intention of visiting the Elder at the moment, he just ignored it. He crossed the path and went directly into the deeper part of the forest. It was the part of the forest that he had never gone to before, therefore, he was unfamiliar with the place.

So far, he hasn't encountered something unusual. He only saw some wild animals that were living in the forest such as squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, and some others. These animals were native to this forest.

Although they looked identical to their counterpart on Earth, there were also different from them and to their counterpart on Earth. One obvious difference was their sizes. The wild animals here were bigger compared to those on Earth. Then color was the second.

Nonetheless, wild animals in the empire were weirder among these three worlds. For Eman, if he was going to describe them. It would be, just imagine a pig mutated into a monster. That's right. Wild animals in the empire looked more furious and fierce.

As Eman wandered randomly, he also didn't forget to use his <Object Appraisal> skill, especially when he encountered some unfamiliar plants or trees on his way.

Plants and herbs were needed for creating elixirs and raising his proficiency level in Alchemy Talent. Thus, whenever he stumbled on rare-looking ones, he would not let them go without checking them.

As Eman continued wandering in the depths of the forest, he didn't encounter any unusual beings. Maybe his perception couldn't detect spiritual beings.

He decided to return since it was already about an hour since he entered the forest. Also, he was worried about Little Sky's condition. Although he failed to see the spirits, he got lots of herbs and plants, so it wasn't a fruitless adventure.

He stored them inside his storage and there was a bundle of them. He would process them later on and turn them into pills before turning them into elixirs.

After another couple of minutes, he finally arrived in front of his wooden house.

While he was in front of the door, he heard some noises from inside.

'What's that? Is Little Sky already awake?' Eman thought. "Well, that's better."

Eman pushed the door to open it. When he entered and reached the living room, he saw Little Sky lying on the floor once again.

"My Lord!" She exclaimed upon noticing him.

"Little Sky… I guess you're truly trying to become a human mattress, don't you?"

"Uh, My Lord! It's not like that!" She cried out and pulled her body then sat upright.

"So, how did you end up in such a state a while ago? Aren't you too reckless?" Eman asked with knitted brows.

Seeing his serious expression with a hint of coldness, Little Sky tensed up.

"U-Uh… M-M-My…"

Looking at her trembling petite figure and hearing her stuttering voice, a pang of pain could be felt in his heart.

A bead of tears was forming at the corner of her eyes.

Eman felt guilty all of a sudden for teasing her.

He gently placed his hand on her head. "Relax, I am just teasing you. Hehe. This is my little revenge for making me worry."

Hearing his words, Little Sky looked at him. "You're not angry, My Lord?" She asked in a small voice.

"Just slightly because I don't want to see you getting hurt. You see, you're like a little sister to me."

While saying that, he gently rubbed her head. "So be careful next time okay?"

She nodded and started sobbing.

Hic! Hic!

"Eh? Little Sky? Why are you sobbing? I said it was just a joke," Eman was panicking a little. He always had a soft spot with little sisters, especially as adorable as Eina and Little Sky.

"Because I made you worry, My Lord!" She rubbed her eyes with her hands.

"Ah, then just promise you won't be careless again."

"I promised, My Lord!"

"Okay, okay. That's good," he smiled.

"The truth, My Lord, it wasn't my fault!"

"Eh? What do you mean?" Eman blinked his eyes as he waited for her reply.

"Look, My Lord. This one is at fault!" Little Sky said while pointing to the thing beside her.

Eh?

Beside Little Sky, there was a round bluish creature with a pair of big round eyes. The big round eyes suddenly blinked.

'Wait, it's not a stuffed toy?'
