Chapter 215: Mr Sander's Story [1] (E)

"I'm ready." Jin nodded his head towards Mr Sander, who gestured him towards the chair.

After passing the script to Dylan, who was nearer to him, Jin sat on the seat facing Mr Sander and made himself comfortable. The next second, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath and exhaled.

When he opened his eyes, the whole air around him changed.

'This…' Mr Sander's brows creased the moment he noticed this shift, and his breath stopped momentarily.

With total disregard for what was happening around him, Jin's facial expression slowly started changing with his eyes as the base.

Emotions of pain, grief, gratefulness and love slowly took over his eyes as a layer of tears gently cascaded down his pupils, giving his eyes a reminiscent touch.

Like a blooming flower, these emotions spread all over his face and by the end of it, the person sitting in front of Mr Sander was no longer Jin but a man who was looking at his family for the last time.

A tear was almost on the verge of falling from his eyes when a trembling hand was raised and wiped it off with a euphoric smile on his face, completely in contrast to the feelings that were flooding his heart.

With that lively expression on his face, he gently stood up from his seat and subtly opened his lips. A deep, silent sigh escaped his lips as the smile on the man's face widened.

Jin closed his eyes the very next moment, adjusted his mood, and when he opened his eyes, he was back to his usual self and was staring towards Mr Sander, "So how was it?"

"…" No words left Mr Sander's mouth as he was so enthralled by Jin's acting.

It was only a few seconds later that he regained himself and answered, "I-It was...perfect. Much better than I had myself imagined," Mr Sander was totally awed by Jin's acting and immediately replied.

Hearing this, a proud expression formed on Dylan's face.

"That's good to know. However, Mr Sander, now that you have got your confirmation that I can do the role well, I would also like to get a confirmation of my own," Jin said after a thought.

"Hm? What do you mean?" Mr Sander asked with a confused frown.

"While coming here, my manager told me that you've not directed a single film in the last six years. I know it's bad for a young actor like me to doubt an experienced director like you, but still, that six years long gap feels very unsettling.

Since I'm a new actor, I'm even more concerned about my next films. So how can I be sure that you would be able to direct it in as good a manner as you used to?" Jin asked with an uncomfortable smile on his face.

He really loved the script and wanted to do this film, so he hoped that Mr Sander would give him an appropriate answer.

Dylan couldn't help but purse his lips from the side, 'Why the hell was he so direct?! I just hope his words didn't end up bruising Mr Sander's ego.'

What Dylan was worried about didn't happen, as instead of becoming angry, a chuckle escaped Mr Sander's mouth as he said, "Quite direct, aren't you? I don't expect anything less from a talented actor like yourself."

"I can go on with the long about method of filming a short video and showing it to you to prove my abilities, but that would be too time-consuming. What I'll do instead is give you three reasons. I believe after that you won't be doubting my abilities," Mr Sander stated.

"Three reasons?" Jin asked with a frown.

"Haha, don't worry. If you're still unsatisfied, then I'll take that video route since, believe me, I want this film to be done in as perfect a manner as anyone else in this world," Mr Sander stated seriously.

It was only after hearing that did Jin nodded and said, "Alright, then we'll go by that. What are those three reasons?"

"Let's go inside first, you two city folks must be finding the smell of the animals difficult to bear," Mr Sander suggested with a smile and took the two inside.

When Dylan and Jin had comfortably seated themselves in the living room, Mr Sander came back from inside his room with a book in his hand and sat in front of the two.

He placed the book to his left on a pet table before addressing them.

Mr Sander then pointed towards the script book in Dylan's hand and asked, "Do you know the name of the writer who wrote that script?"

"Uhm, no, I don't. In the script, which we got the writer's name was not given," Dylan stated.

"Well, it's written in the copy which is in your hand right now. How about turning to the last page and checking who it is," Mr Sander suggested with a smile.

Dylan did what he was asked and flipped to the last page. His brows raised subtly as he read out the writer's name the next moment, "David Sander…That's you,"

"Yes," Mr Sander turned towards Jin and said confidently, "This is my first reason, it's a script written by me, so no one else would be able to direct it in the manner as it's supposed to be directed except for me, as I have it all in my mind."

Hearing this, Jin nodded subtly and waited for the next reason. It was clear that this much was not enough to convince him.

Mr Sander just smiled slightly at Jin's behaviour and said, while reaching towards the book he had brought with him a while ago, "As for my second reason, we'll talk about it as you go through this photo album."

With that said, he passed the book towards Jin, who accepted it curiously and started going through it.

'Hmm? Isn't this just a family album?' Jin thought to himself as he started turning pages.

It started with regular pictures of Mr Sander and his wife, and Jin was about to raise his doubts when on the next page he saw her in a hospital gown.

A few more pages later, he noticed a visible deterioration in her health, which continued until the last picture, where she was bedridden and her body had thinned drastically.

Seeing that Jin had reached the last page, Mr Sander finally began his explanation.
