Chapter 210: Retrieving the Flash Drive (E)
"Space?! Is that even allowed? Valeyria doesn't even have a space agency of its own, so how could they allow a private one to be made before?" Jin asked with a frown.
"Haha, don't worry," Flora chuckled, "I had a meeting with the government officials, and they gave me the permissions after a thorough discussion."
"You sure about this? It's the government we are talking about. They might make things difficult for you in the future and might even take over your space company by force," Jin couldn't help but ask.
Flora snorted when she heard this, "I would like to see them try then."
It was clear that she had countermeasures planned for this, so Jin didn't say anything further and changed the topic, "Anyways, where are you now? I asked the hotel receptionist here, and they told me that you haven't been here in weeks."
"I've been busy lately. After the meeting with the government officials in the afternoon, I went to the airport. It's only now that I'm in my jet that I can relax a little and was able to call you," Flora said with a sigh as her gaze went outside the window, at the faint light of the moon which was visible far away.
"Jet? Where are you headed?" Jin asked curiously.
"Morose, gotta poach some rocket scientists before my space company is finished," Flora said with a grin.
"Damn, you're already thinking so far ahead," Jin praised.
"If I want to fulfil my dream in this lifetime, then I can't afford to not take things slowly. Anyway, how are things going on your side?" Flora asked. She, too, was curious as to what his plans were now.
Jin talked about his intention of making things work out with Diana, followed by preparing for his next film and his eventual goal of helping his entertainment agency rise.
"It seems like you, too, have your hands full. I wish you good luck." Flora said as a yawn escaped her mouth.
"Likewise." Jin chuckled when he heard her yawn and said, " You should rest then. It felt good talking to you."
"The feelings are mutual, good night then," Flora said, and the call was soon ended.
Jin too yawned when the call ended. He sent a good night text to Diana the next moment and went to sleep.
Buzz
Diana was applying some moisturiser to her skin before going to bed when he heard her phone buzz.
When she checked who the sender was, she couldn't help but frown. This was the third time Jin had sent a text to her today.
The first one was in the morning, where he informed her about her discharge, then in the afternoon, he sent her a pic of him eating lunch with Dylan and finally this goodnight message at night.
She snorted at this, "Let's see how long you'll keep on with this farce," she exited the messaging app and threw her phone aside in a spoiled mood.
The next morning.
Jin drove to a town which was 150 kilometres west of Neon City and soon reached Ivory Town. He had changed his appearance to make sure that no one would recognise him.
Getting out of the car, he followed the address written on the piece of paper, which Mr Johan had passed him earlier, and soon reached the house of Diana's mother.
It was a dilapidated building with weeds growing out in the yard.
It was clear that it had not been visited by anyone in a while.
Diana used to live here with her mother when she was a child, while Mr Johan would come and visit them from time to time when he was free. However, after her mother passed away from tuberculosis, Diana moved with Mr Johan to Neon City.
A large part of her childhood was spent here, so she cared about this place a lot and used to visit it often to tidy it up, but as her father's health worsened, she was forced to stop doing that, which resulted in the present dilapidated condition of the house.
Jin soon made his way towards the door and saw a padlock on it. Jin was about to break it, but thinking of something, his gaze went towards a pot that was placed near the door, and searched it up just for the sake of it.
He soon found a rusty key hidden behind the plant's stem.
'That's so like her,' Jin couldn't help but shake his head as he wiped the key clean and used it to open the door.
The inside was dark and was covered in dust and cobwebs.
Using the flashlight on his phone, Jin walked inside and looked for the bookshelf.
"Oh?" Find a family photograph of Diana's family on the wall, he couldn't help but pause and wipe the dust off it.
"She really took the appearance of her mother," Jin commented as he looked at the picture of Diana's mother, who was hugging a five-year-old child in the picture. A subtle smile formed on his face as he soon busied himself with finding the bookshelf.
'There it is!' Jin thought when he entered a small study room. There were around thirty to forty books on the bookshelf, seeing which Jin couldn't help but mutter, "How is this a small bookshelf…"
However, just like Mr Johan had told him, there was a thick book which stood out among them. Jin pulled it out, and it had the same title which Mr Johan had mentioned, 'Genetic Fusion'.
Opening the book, he soon found a few hundred pages stuck together, and in the middle of the page, a small compartment was cut, and inside this compartment lay the flash drive, which was still in pristine condition.
Phew
Jin sighed when he saw that the flash drive was in good condition and soon left the house.
A few miles away from here, there was a market from where Jin bought a laptop and came back to his car with it.
"It's time to check what these Zenith bastards were doing all along," Jin muttered to himself and plugged in the flash drive to his laptop.
