Chapter 27: The Prank— After math
The sun set over Flame Island, casting an eerie orange glow across the darkening skies. Kikidori leaned against the obsidian throne, his arms crossed, watching the golden light of the horizon flicker before him. A mischievous smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he leaned forward, the ideas in his mind already taking shape.
"Cerberus is with Ere'ana today," Kikidori muttered to himself, glancing over at the small, now quiet chihuahua curled up in a corner. The demon's eyes then sparkled with mischief. "What better time for a little fun?"
Kikidori had grown tired of the constant tension and darkness of Flame Island. As much as he enjoyed his time alone, there were moments when even he craved the simple pleasures of chaos. A spark of inspiration hit him like a lightning bolt. He stood up from the throne, his wings stretching, and immediately flew out of Flame Island, heading toward Earth.
The streets below were crowded, humans going about their business, oblivious to the world beyond their own. Kikidori hovered in the sky, watching the people below go about their daily lives, unaware of the impending chaos about to unfold.
He grinned. "Time to have a little fun."
In his hands, he conjured seven trumpets, each one larger than the next. They shimmered with dark energy, each gleaming with an ominous light. The wind howled around him, as if nature itself was bracing for what he was about to do.
With one swift motion, Kikidori brought the first trumpet to his lips and let out a single, thunderous note. The sound echoed across the Earth, loud and reverberating, as though the very air was trembling with power. The humans below looked up in confusion, some pausing in mid-step, while others began to run in panic.
Kikidori laughed maniacally, his voice barely audible over the sound of the trumpet. "Let's see how they react!"
The note from the first trumpet hung in the air like a warning, and then, as if in perfect sync, the second trumpet sounded a matching note. The chaos below intensified as more people stopped, their eyes wide with fear.
One by one, the other demons appeared around Kikidori, each holding a trumpet. They, too, played a single, resounding note, creating a powerful cacophony that echoed through the sky. The humans on Earth were now in a full-blown panic. Some dropped to their knees, praying for salvation, others screamed and ran in every direction, desperate to escape whatever they thought was coming.
Kikidori, now joined by his demonic companions, floated above them, watching the panic unfold beneath him. The sight was too good to pass up, and Kikidori couldn't help but laugh louder.
"They really think the rapture is happening," Kikidori mused aloud. "This is priceless!"
The trumpets blared on, creating an eerie symphony of doom. For several minutes, the chaos continued to escalate, and Kikidori reveled in the fear he was causing. However, as the minutes stretched on, he started to feel the weight of the prank begin to fade. There was a point when the fear became less entertaining, and the energy in the air shifted from excitement to a hollow, almost bored feeling.
With a flick of his wrist, Kikidori silenced the trumpets, the blaring music coming to an abrupt stop. The demons who had joined him lowered their instruments, their grins matching his own. It was over. The humans, who had been terrified just moments before, now stood still, the reality of the prank sinking in.
Kikidori chuckled to himself, flying back to Flame Island. "I hope they all enjoyed their moment of panic." He shook his head. "Humans are so gullible."
Back at Flame Island, Kikidori landed gracefully, his wings folding behind him as he approached his throne. He sat back down with a smug grin on his face, the thrill of the prank still fresh in his mind. It had been a while since he'd caused such a stir, and the adrenaline had been worth it.
Meanwhile, in Heaven, Ere'ana was enjoying her time with Cerberus. She was sitting on a grassy hill, watching the chihuahua chase after butterflies. The sight was serene, and for a moment, she allowed herself to forget about the conflicts in the universe—the war, Kikidori's uncertain future, the tension between Heaven and Hell. It was a rare moment of peace, and she cherished it.
As she sat there, petting Cerberus, she couldn't help but think about Kikidori. She wondered what he was up to, if he was okay, and whether or not he was still thinking about her. The connection between them was undeniable, even if neither of them openly admitted it.
"Is he really that far gone?" Ere'ana thought, her fingers absentmindedly scratching Cerberus's back. "Or is there a part of him that still wants to change?"
Cerberus barked, breaking her train of thought, and Ere'ana smiled, her heart warmed by the dog's excitement. She loved moments like these—simple, peaceful, and free of the constant war between Heaven and Hell.
"Sometimes, I wish things could be different," she whispered to herself.
Back at Flame Island, Kikidori was sitting on his throne, still laughing softly to himself. The human prank had been a perfect distraction, but now that it was over, he was left with a feeling of emptiness. He had spent so much time creating chaos and destruction, but now he was craving something else—something deeper.
"Is this all there is?" Kikidori asked aloud, the question lingering in the air.
He leaned back in his throne, running a hand through his hair, his purple horns catching the light. His mind drifted to Ere'ana once again, to the time they had shared. A part of him missed her, even though he hated to admit it. He knew he couldn't let himself get too close to her—he was a demon, and she was an angel—but the connection they shared was undeniable.
Kikidori sighed, letting the thought go. "I'll figure it out later."
For now, there was nothing left to do but wait for the next moment of excitement, the next chaotic burst of energy that would take him away from the quiet emptiness of Flame Island.
As he sat there, his mind drifting between thoughts of Ere'ana and the chaos he could create, a new idea began to form. It was time for something bigger—something that would shake the very foundations of Heaven and Hell. And Kikidori was ready for it.
