Chapter 26: The Prank
Kikidori sat perched on his obsidian throne, his fingers drumming idly against the armrest. Cerberus, his tiny companion, lay curled up at his feet, occasionally lifting his head to bark at random shadows. The day was unbearably dull, with nothing to occupy Kikidori's mind. The world around him, Flame Island, was as chaotic as ever, but even its erratic energy couldn't pull him out of his boredom.
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I need something to do," Kikidori muttered to himself. Then, an idea sparked in his mind—a devilish, mischievous idea.
With a grin curling on his lips, Kikidori stood up, the obsidian throne creaking under his movement. "Let's see how Earth likes a little... chaos," he said with a dark chuckle. He waved a hand, and suddenly, Cerberus was on his shoulder, the little dog's tail wagging enthusiastically.
"Alright, buddy," Kikidori said as he flapped his wings, sending a gust of wind through the room. "Time to get creative."
Kikidori soared high into the sky, Cerberus still perched on his shoulder. The wind rushed through his hair as he flew toward the realm of Heaven. He had something he needed to do there first.
As Flame Island faded beneath him, Kikidori felt a strange pull toward the golden gates of Heaven. His thoughts turned to Ere'ana, the one being who had somehow kept him grounded through all the madness. Despite everything—the war, the violence, and his internal conflict—Ere'ana was his calm. She had become more than just a friend; she was his anchor in a world of chaos.
As he neared Heaven, Cerberus barked excitedly, sensing the impending visit. Kikidori smiled as they descended, landing softly on the outskirts of Heaven, near the radiant golden gardens where he and Ere'ana had spent countless moments.
"Ere'ana," Kikidori said, his voice soft but carrying. "You still here?"
Ere'ana emerged from the gardens, her halo glowing brightly, her soft wings fluttering gracefully as she landed before him. She smiled, the serenity in her expression warming Kikidori's heart.
"Kiki," she greeted, her voice laced with warmth. "What brings you here today?"
Kikidori grinned. "I brought Cerberus with me. Thought you could take care of him for the day."
Ere'ana's smile widened as Cerberus barked happily, jumping off Kikidori's shoulder and landing in her arms. "Of course, I'd love to. You know I enjoy his company."
With a playful look, she added, "It's nice to have some company that doesn't talk back."
Kikidori laughed. "Yeah, Cerberus has that effect on people." He paused, his expression shifting slightly as he glanced around. "I think I'll stick around for a bit."
Ere'ana nodded and waved her hand, creating a comfortable resting spot in the garden for the two of them to relax.
As the afternoon passed, Kikidori felt a strange weight settle on him. He had been so consumed by his own chaos and pranks that he hadn't thought much about his family. His brother—his older brother, who had died years ago, had always been there for him. His brother had been the one person who actually cared when things got tough. But as Kikidori sat in Heaven, he couldn't shake the image of his brother's face from his mind. He wondered what it would be like to see him again. After all, his brother had been gone for so long—since Kikidori was only seven.
As if the universe itself had heard his thoughts, Kikidori turned and spotted a familiar face across the garden. His heart skipped a beat.
There, standing in front of a group of angels, was his brother. Kikidori's eyes widened as he saw the face of the man who had always been a guiding light in his life—his older brother, standing in the midst of Heaven as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
Kikidori's breath caught in his throat. His brother didn't notice him at first, too caught up in conversation with the angels around him. Kikidori, unsure of what to do, floated over toward him. He wasn't even sure if his brother would recognize him—after all, the last time they saw each other, Kikidori was just a child of seven. He hadn't looked anything like this then.
The thought made Kikidori hesitate for a moment, but with a sigh, he decided to go for it. He flew down in front of his brother, who turned toward him with a quizzical look on his face.
Kikidori held out a hand, offering a fist bump, his heart racing. "Hey, man. Long time no see." He smiled, but his smile faltered as he saw the confused expression on his brother's face.
His brother blinked and took a step back. "Uh... do I know you?" he asked, his voice sounding uncertain.
Kikidori's heart sank. Of course he wouldn't recognize him. The last time they were together, he was just a child. But now, he looked like this—a fallen angel, a demon with glowing purple horns and the weight of the world on his shoulders.
"I—It's me, Kikidori," Kikidori said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Your brother."
His brother's eyes widened in shock. "Kikidori?" He reached out, his hand trembling as he tried to process what he was seeing. "I—Oh my... I didn't know. I never thought—" His voice trailed off as he shook his head. "I didn't think you'd look so... different."
Kikidori smiled bitterly. "Yeah, well, a lot has happened since I was seven."
"I... I'm sorry," his brother said, his voice filled with regret. "I didn't know how bad things were for you."
Kikidori's face hardened, but his heart twisted painfully. "You weren't there, man. No one was. But it's okay. I'm... I'm fine now."
The two of them stood there for a moment, a quiet understanding passing between them. But Kikidori knew that his brother would never truly understand the depths of his pain—not unless he experienced it firsthand. And Kikidori wasn't sure if that would ever happen.
With a heavy sigh, Kikidori turned away. "It's good to see you again, but I've got to go. It's... complicated."
His brother nodded, looking helpless. "Take care of yourself, Kikidori. I wish I could've been there for you."
Without another word, Kikidori took to the skies, flying back toward Flame Island, his thoughts heavy. He had seen his brother again, but it didn't feel like a reunion. It felt like the end of something that had never fully begun.
Back on Flame Island, Kikidori sat on his obsidian throne, still reeling from his brief encounter with his brother. He sighed deeply, the weight of everything pressing on him. But then, a mischievous grin spread across his face.
"Well, enough of that," he muttered. "Time to have some fun."
He snapped his fingers, and seven trumpets materialized in front of him. They were enormous, gold-plated, and impossible to ignore. With a smirk, Kikidori spread his wings and soared into the air.
He wasn't going to Earth—no, this time, he was going to play his little prank from the sky. He floated high above Earth, his eyes scanning the planet below. With a snap of his fingers, he summoned six demons to join him. Each one was armed with a trumpet.
"This is going to be fun," Kikidori said with a wicked grin.
The demons began playing, one by one, blasting a single, powerful note into the air. The sound echoed through the heavens and down to Earth, loud and unrelenting. Kikidori's grin grew wider as the sound reverberated.
"Let's make them think the rapture is happening," he laughed, his voice full of dark amusement.
The world below began to stir. People looked up, confused and terrified. The blaring trumpets echoed in their ears, and panic began to set in. Was the end of the world truly upon them?
Kikidori and his demons continued playing, each note building the illusion. They didn't care about the chaos they were causing. It was all part of the fun.
The sound of seven trumpets echoed across Earth, and Kikidori's laugh rang through the air, knowing full well that his prank would leave a lasting impression.
