Chapter 29: The Suspect
Victor led me to a small, secluded cabin on the outskirts of the pack's territory. The cabin belonged to one of the pack's most trusted members, a wolf named Lucas.
As we approached the cabin, I could sense that something was off. The air around us seemed to vibrate with tension, and I could feel Lucas's eyes watching us from the shadows.
Victor knocked on the door, and Lucas answered, his expression guarded.
"What do you want, Victor?" Lucas asked, his voice neutral.
Victor's eyes narrowed. "We need to talk, Lucas," he said. "About the message on the wall."
Lucas's expression didn't change, but I could sense a flicker of fear behind his eyes.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Lucas said, his voice steady.
Victor's eyes locked onto Lucas's, and I could sense a challenge being issued.
"Don't lie to me, Lucas," Victor said, his voice low and menacing. "We know you're involved. The question is, how deep are you in?"
Lucas's expression faltered, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of fear in his eyes.
"I...I didn't mean to," Lucas stammered. "I was just trying to protect myself."
Victor's eyes narrowed. "Protect yourself from what?" he asked.
Lucas hesitated, then spoke in a rush. "From the Order. They're not what they seem. They're hiding something, and I didn't want to be a part of it."
I felt a surge of shock. What was Lucas talking about? What secrets was the Order hiding?
