Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 054 | Monster Army Expansion

"I-I can't just take Damien's blood, Master... He's my partner!" After a moment of hesitation, Hecate resisted the proposal of the seventh Paragon. Her pale face was as crimson as a tomato while she waved her arms in opposition against whatever plans they had in mind.

Alastair maintained her smirk but narrowed her gaze and rejected the rejection of the crimson-haired vampire. "It must be done, Hecate. This isn't about embarrassment or awkwardness. Do you remember the blood rites of vampires?"

Facing the questioning tone of her Master, Hecate hesitantly nodded in agreement. "Once a vampire tasted the blood of something. They would become addicted to it. Those who fed on human blood for the first time will continue to do so. And vice versa."

"That's right... Let's say you fed on human blood. Can you control yourself just as well as before? Your great self-control is thanks to your ignorance of how human blood tastes. No matter how delicious the scent is."

"In the end, the scent is nothing more than a figment of what it could be. However, once you tasted human blood, the question would be answered. It truly is significantly delicious. You would be a full-fledged vampire who sees humans as mere bloodbags."

Alastair explained her reasoning for why she didn't want her vampire student to drink human blood. Their first taste of blood tends to control their future preference. She'd rather avoid having her cute vampite become one of those freaks from the Clan.

"B-but why Damien, though?" Hecate mumbled to herself, understanding what her Master meant but unable to agree with feeding on her partner. She didn't want to treat him as a delicacy. She'd rather starve than have their relationship devolve into such a horrific bond.

"Don't misunderstand, Hecate. I did not choose Damien merely because he is your partner. Did you forget his identity?" Alastair raised her eyebrows and questioned the crimson-haired girl before her.

"An Aberrant..." The young vampiress muttered under her breath, realizing where her Master was heading. Damien was an Aberrant whose blood was rare yet brimming with energy.

Instead of feeding on one or two humans, one session might be able to make her wholly satiated. But a question remains unanswered.

Gathering her resolve, Hecate stared directly at the pearl-like irises of her Master and inquired. "Does Damien even agree to your proposal? No one would want to have a vampire feeding on them."

As if expecting her inquiry, Alastair's grin curved wider as she chuckled. "He already accepted his fate, but wanted your consent. You and Damien should talk about it. After all, the matter is about the two of you."

Before Hecate could utter a response, they felt a sense of pressure enveloping them and the entirety of the looming tower of Block 7. Alastair smirked in satisfaction while Francine gave a gracious smile.

"It seems that he broke through his limits. Sooner or later, he will be carrying your weight, Hecate. In your current state, it all depends on your resolve to become stronger. But your determination remains under scrutiny." Alastair gazed at the crimson-haired vampire.

Hecate felt a tangled weight shackling her heart. She didn't want to be left behind and become a damsel in distress. She needed strength and the potential to grow. However, it was a path that required a certain price.

"Master... Damien and I will handle your proposal as we see fit." Without hesitation or delay, the crimson-haired girl left the office and returned to her private quarters, intending to digest what had just occurred.

Francine glanced at the grinning white-haired lady and sighed. "It seems that all is going along your plan, Miss Alastair. Although I would have preferred a gradual growth of strength, everything proceeds under your decision and authority."

"Power isn't without its price, Francine. You should know best about its cost." Alastair replied and changed the subject. "We should continue our recent discussion regarding the future of New Janus."

"Understood," Francine nodded in understanding and began outlining their strategies to ensure the dominance of Block 7 within the city. They would have to counter the influences of both CORE and the FNA, so it would take effort for their plan to be completed.

Meanwhile...

Inside his private quarters, Damien's sable-tinted gaze watched as notifications after notifications bombarded his perception. It flooded his mind, rattling his ears like cicadas. The noise and displays were troublesome, but he didn't care about them and ignored the clamor.

What was important was the details written on each notification.

Beyond these notifications of summoned monsters were duplicates of varying monsters. But Damien wasn't bothered by having almost half of his Terrestrial Summoning as duplicates since the fusion feature existed.

Instead, his attention was primarily directed towards what he was rewarded with from the banners. There was no doubt that his army of summoned monsters had expanded and grown, numbering over a dozen monsters from three different categories.

With a widened gaze, Damien observed each and every one of them. His lips couldn't help themselves as they curled into a satisfied smile. Alongside the monsters he could command were their personal skills for him.

He was stacked with versatile abilities that would have made his former self a few minutes ago somewhat weak and underprepared. Regardless, it was time to catch a sight of what his current status was.

'It would probably be a lengthy status display.' His muted emotions couldn't control his growing satisfaction. But he also halted himself from becoming too arrogant. After all, it was just the start of what was about to come.

"Two Three-Star Terrestrial Monsters and One Two-Star Extraterrestrial Monster... I can't wait to check them out later." He muttered under his breath before shaking his head and checking out his current status.

The status display materialized in front of his perception, listing his summoned monsters and acquired skills from each one of them.

"Damn..." The number of monsters wasn't the one that surprised him. It was his long-listed Skill Index. Adapting to these numerous personal abilities would take quite some time.

'It would probably take a few weeks for me to understand each individual skill and utilize them properly,' Damien thought while staring at the Skill Index with intrigue. He was barely able to control himself, but patience was paramount.

The purging operation against two of the cardinal families within New Janus had recently ended with a complete victory for Block 7. The city's authorities were probably handling what was left behind while his boss planned for the future.

It was better to take his time and rest for the moment. Waking up and brimming with energy later in the morning was far more preferable for testing his newly acquired skills from the recently summoned monsters.

Resting on the comfortable embrace of his bed, Damien felt his weariness hit hard after his excitement of the summoning wore off. He also recalled the awkward proposal of Miss Alastair regarding the sustenance of his partner, Hecate.

'Tomorrow is bound to be troublesome.' He quietly thought while staring at the ceiling in a daze. There were several things he was looking forward to in the future. Each of which got him closer to his dream of uncovering the truth of Heaven's Fall.

Damien hadn't forgotten the path he had determined himself to take. To discover the hidden truths of the New World and the black towers that loomed over it. It would be a rough road for the young man. But he wasn't one to retreat from a path he had taken.

As his eyelids closed, veiling the sable-tinted irises that resembled a pair of obsidians, the young Aberrant lost himself to drowsiness and fell to slumber.

The gears of destiny had begun to revolve themselves as the name Oberon was about to be engraved in the New World. The destruction of two cardinal families of New Janus would echo as a reminder of the power the seventh division of SIGIL held.

From the strongest of humanity, to the demonic fallen heir of Espada, and the two monster rookies of Block 7. Each has the capacity to bring about chaos to the New World.
