Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 051 | Conclusion of the Second Primary Mission

The shattered night sky above the fortified compound of the Rotte Family rumbled as black, thunderous clouds surged inward. Explosions beneath the dark heavens dwindled as the summoned monsters retreated from the battlefield, disappearing amidst the shadows of the evening.

When the guards resisting the incursion noticed the withdrawal of the aetheric beasts, cries of victory echoed throughout the residential compound. Some felt relieved as the fiery flames of destruction burned into the darkness of the night.

A reminder of the assault that had occurred.

The Matriarch of the Rotte Family, alongside several metahumans, lurked deep beneath the secured compound and watched the eventual retreat of the aetheric beasts. Instead of satisfaction, the old lady felt nothing more but dread. It was too easy.

She expected the inevitable confrontation between the forces of SIGIL and her criminal syndicate. Their conflict would only end with one faction alive. Not because of a grudge, but pure necessity. Their secrets must be hidden.

The connection of the Rotte Family with the Clan has to be concealed from the New World. It must remain unknown and kept under speculation.

She didn't want documents of their involvement and their allies to be discovered by the Federation and SIGIL. So, she burned them while also ensuring that those who were knowledgeable of their deep ties would be executed.

Turning her attention towards the rooftop, the Matriarch's weary gaze narrowed. "A noble has died within my residence. The Clan will not forgive me for such transgressions."

She wasn't ignorant of the battle between the Jaeger and the vampire noble. It wasn't as destructive as she expected it to be, but perhaps she was looking at it from the wrong perspective. After all, these aetheric beasts should belong to that Jaeger.

The destruction this intruder had brought upon the Rotte Family was already too much. The elite guards she had nurtured alongside loyal metahumans have met their demise at the fangs of these monsters.

"Sooner or later, the SIGIL will pay for this humiliation." The Matriarch took a deep breath and calmed herself as the piercing dread embedded itself within her heart. Her honed instincts were crying, yet no danger seemed to appear.

It was then she noticed the black storm above their compound. It was local, merely surging above them like a devouring behemoth. Before she could question the shattered night skies, the entirety of the New Janus shook.

Birds soared across the skies as trees rustled and dust descended from the concrete. The Matriarch turned her eyes towards the western district, where she felt the earthquake originated. Immediately, her eyebrows furrowed.

'Western district... Wait, the Winston Family? Have they been annihilated?' She felt a pang of melancholy as the mercenary network of the Winston was amongst the best within New Janus.

After this purge, the city would be left defenseless, and industries occupied by the two families would be torn into pieces by smaller criminal organizations. That was, of course, if the SIGIL even let those small groups take a bite.

Realizing the way of the SIGIL Division, the Matriarch glanced at the storm above and understood that complete annihilation was inevitable. Then, the cries of victory promptly faded as an eerie hollow silence pervaded the devastated residential compound.

One after another, those below the raging storm felt a sense of oppression radiating from above them. Veiled by the black storm clouds, a gargantuan hand stretching half a kilometer across made its descent.

Its skin was pitch-black as the cold air of the night was displaced by its sheer size. Everyone beneath it felt the weight of the looming jet-black hand, realizing that their efforts of resistance were futile.

The thunderous black clouds parted as the monstrous pitch-black hand plummeted from the heavens. Its palm impacted the entirety of the secured compound, flattening it into nothing but mere rubble. The earth shook for the second time, attracting the attention of slumbering civilians.

In mere moments, the Rotte Family and their criminal syndicate were annihilated from the New World. No one and nothing was left alive after the purge, a complete termination of the adversaries that would stand in the path of Block 7.

Above the rooftop of a building looming over the distance, Damien felt the shockwave of the impact rattling strands of his pitch-black hair. He watched as Eclipse flattened the residential compound, nodding in satisfaction before turning his attention to the rescued people.

Most of them had already realized who had saved them. Many were tearing up, some felt listless, while a few bowed and declared their complete loyalty to the black-suited young man.

Carrying his briefcase, Damien merely nodded with a smile since their safety was enough for him. It was the second time he had saved people, and the scale was much bigger than the last.

But it was worth it for the young man.

His path of searching for answers didn't end with knowledge. If he were capable of assisting innocent people, he would do so without hesitation.

"Local authorities will reach this place, and they will assist you in returning to your homes or society. Block 7 will be aiding in your path to stability, that is no doubt." Damien calmly stated, earning more admiration from the ones he had saved.

A complex smile formed over his lips as he turned back and waved at them before a black mist enveloped the entirety of his body. In an instant, he teleported out of the southern district and returned to the entrance of Block 7's tower.

Standing in the desolate entrance of their supposed headquarters, Damien took a deep breath and watched a digital window materialize before his perception. It was a notification about the primary mission he had completed.

| Congratulations, Oberon! You have successfully completed your second primary mission! |

| You have been rewarded 2,500 Terror Points, [Fusion Feature]! |

The edges of his lips curled into a smile, pleased by the rewards granted by the gacha system. 2,500 Terror Points have been added to his growing wealth. With the amount of TP he had accumulated, he had become a wealthy young man.

"I am not the type who would hesitate to spend. Especially when it correlates to my power. But I need to divide my priorities appropriately, so that I wouldn't be overwhelmed by the things I needed to do."

Increasing his strength required adaptation; Damien needed to understand how to utilize the new summoned monsters properly, and that would take time. Instead, before summoning more monsters, he wanted to understand the latest feature of the system.

'Fusion Feature...' He quietly thought as the notification window was replaced by another one. Inside was information regarding the feature, which surprised him.

| Fusion Feature: Grants the capability to fuse compatible summoned monsters of the same category. Enable fusion augmentation or fusion evolution. The former allows the usage of duplicates to enhance the strength of acquired monsters. The latter fuses two summoned monsters of the category and evolves them into a new monster. |

Damien nodded in understanding after reading the description. With the latest feature, he had been granted the ability to augment existing monsters through their duplicates and evolve two summoned monsters by fusing them into one.

It was an interesting feature without a doubt, and it could lessen his pressure. His desire was to create an elite army of monsters. All of them needed to be strong. Not simply one, two, or three.

With the fusion feature, he was capable of doing so without entirely relying upon normal evolution or the friendly status.

'Now that all things have been taken care of. How about I take a look at my status?' Damien couldn't help but smile as the status screen materialized before him.

"Damn, I'm beyond rich," Damien muttered under his breath while staring at the five-thousand Terror Points imprinted in the status display. Half of it originated from the primary mission, while the other half came from the Terror of those who belonged to the Rotte Family.

He had gained about a thousand points from the criminal syndicate alone. It brought him a sense of exhilaration, as his adversaries wouldn't be limited to mere criminals alone.

'Before summoning monsters. I have to report the conclusion of the operation to Alastair first.' He thought as he entered the looming tower with calm. Summary reports were the norm in the bureaucratic organization of SIGIL.

It wasn't something he could avoid.

As Damien arrived at the summit of the concrete tower, he entered the office and saw Francine standing beside Alastair with a glint in her golden-tinted eyeglasses. A gracious smile formed on her face as she saw him stepping into the office.

On the other hand, Alastair's supple lips curved into an arrogant grin, already aware of what her Aberrant had done against the criminal syndicate in the southern district. Though the black-suited young man's attention was punctually directed towards the luxurious sofa.

There, the crimson-haired girl lay in deep slumber. His eyebrows furrowed as he wondered what had occurred to exhaust his junior. 'Was it that earthquake? No wonder... Exhaustion is normal after employing such an attack.'

"Glad to see you well, Damien. So, any good news for your boss?" The gorgeous white-haired lady continued grinning at her Aberrant.
