The closest team was from Class B, whose name Itadori didn't even know.
The distance was less than two meters.
"Let's execute the plan. Get started."
Itadori gave the order.
"OK!"
Momo pressed the button for the thruster behind her, propelling the team nearly ten meters into the air with an exaggerated burst of wind pressure.
"Don't let them get away!"
"Activate your Quirks in the air!"
"Wait, what is he planning to do?!"
Many students refused to give up and prepared to launch attacks mid-air.
However, some sharp-eyed spectators noticed Itadori's movements.
"The World!"
As Itadori raised his hands high, a deafening cheer erupted.
The eyes of the riders from nearly ten teams remained focused on him as he hovered mid-air.
But suddenly, they felt piercing pain throughout their bodies.
Nearly ten riders collapsed to the ground, their faces contorted in agony.
The stunned audience in the stadium watched the scene unfold on the big screen. Injuries on shoulders, abdomens, and collarbones were visible, and each downed rider had a white dagger embedded in their body.
These daggers were customized inventions shown to Itadori before the game, now put to devastating use.
Meanwhile, Itadori's team landed gracefully on the ground.
The riders surrounding them, who had planned to attack, were incapacitated. Each had been neutralized in an instant.
The arena fell into a stunned silence.
After a long moment, Midnight, the referee, reacted first. She waved her hand and shouted:
"Team Muroma Ningren, the rider fell! Eliminated!"
"Team Sakaizaki Izu, the rider fell! Eliminated!"
"Team XXX, the rider fell! Eliminated!"
"Team XXX, the rider fell! Eliminated!"
"Team XXX, the rider fell! Eliminated!"
In a flash, more than half of the teams were disqualified.
"What just happened?"
Present Mic, the commentator, was completely dumbfounded. Even Aizawa, standing beside him, had his eyes narrowed in astonishment.
"What on earth did we just witness?!"
The audience buzzed with disbelief, trying to make sense of what had occurred. Why had so many riders collapsed at once, all injured by daggers?
"Take the injured students away, and eliminated teams, exit the arena!" Midnight commanded, restoring some order.
Medical staff arrived with stretchers, carrying away the injured riders. The remaining disqualified participants, drenched in cold sweat, looked terrified rather than disappointed.
Being attacked without even realizing it had left them shaken to their core.
For the students of Class B, the shock was especially profound. Unlike Class A, they had not experienced a life-threatening encounter like the one against the League of Villains.
The stadium, once bustling with activity, was now eerily quiet.
Itadori's gaze swept over the remaining teams:
- Todoroki Shoto, Kaminari Denki, Iida Tenya....
- Izuku Midoriya, Ochako Uraraka, Tokoyami Fumikage, and Yoarashi Inasa.
- Bakugo Katsuki, Kirishima Eijiro, Mina Ashido....
All formidable opponents, with many from Class A and a few from Class B still in the mix.
These teams had avoided attacking initially, shortening the effectiveness of *The World's* time-stop ability. As a result, Itadori hadn't managed to neutralize them during his first attack.
"Should I use it again?" Itadori muttered under his breath.
His teammates, Momo, Mei, and some of the other inventors in the crowd, were utterly confused. Even as allies, they couldn't grasp what Itadori had done.
From their perspective, the team had simply used Momo's thrusters to soar into the air. By the time they descended, more than half the competition had been wiped out.
"What kind of Quirk does he have?" One of the Hero Association's monitors asked in disbelief.
"Keep observing! We need to uncover the secret of his ability!" Another replied, teeth gritted in frustration.
The remaining participants in the arena looked at Itadori with visible fear.
The earlier assumption that his Quirk was teleportation had been thoroughly debunked.
"What…what should we do, Todoroki?" Iida Tenya asked, his face pale and voice trembling.
"Maintain distance! Don't engage him directly!" Todoroki replied with a stern expression. But inwardly, he was conflicted—this strategy only emphasized his fear of Itadori.
"How terrifying…" Mineta whimpered, clutching Shoji's shoulders for dear life, "Don't mess with that psycho! Pick a different target!"
Shoji nodded in agreement, "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing."
Their team had the lowest score and desperately needed points to advance. Like Todoroki's team, they began scavenging for the headbands left behind by eliminated riders.
But before they could secure their loot, a sudden explosion scattered the headbands in one direction.
"Yoarashi Inasa!" Multiple voices cried out in unison.
"Sorry, these are ours!" Yoarashi declared triumphantly, using his whirlwind to gather the headbands and deliver them to Izuku Midoriya's team.
Midoriya's team's score skyrocketed to second place.
This sudden turn of events shifted the remaining teams' focus toward Midoriya's group.
But not everyone was content with such calculated tactics.
"Get ready, twin bastards! I'm coming for that ten million!" Bakugo roared, his pride ignited.
Despite witnessing *The World's* power, Bakugo's self-esteem demanded he challenge Itadori head-on. Using his explosive Quirk, he launched himself from Kirishima's shoulders, aiming directly at Itadori.
"Is he insane?!"
"O'Dynamite Head, bring it on!"
"Yeah, let's see what that transfer student's Quirk is all about!"
Bakugo's reckless charge drew cheers from the crowd, who were eager to see how Itadori would respond.
"Itadori?" Mei asked, awaiting his next command.
"Oh…" Itadori smirked, summoning *The World* once more.
Bakugo's fiery assault was intercepted by Sero Hanta's tape, which yanked him back just before contact.
"What the hell, tape freak?!" Bakugo shouted, furious at Sero for interfering.
"Don't be reckless, Bakugo! There's a fine line between bravery and suicide!" Kirishima scolded.
"What did you say?!" Bakugo snapped, his frustration boiling over.
"We can't beat him if we don't even know his Quirk!" Mina interjected, "We need to focus on advancing to the next round!"
Bakugo seethed, glaring at Itadori before turning his attention to Midoriya's team, "Fine! But I'll settle the score with you later, twin freak!"
Itadori, now seated casually, watched Bakugo retreat with an amused expression, "Too bad." He muttered, "He's beyond *The World's* reach."
