Chapter 140: Chapter 139: Venom Gwen!
"I'll have a proper talk with it first," Peter said, taking the web-wrapped bundle and stepping aside.
The Venom of this world didn't seem as intelligent as some of its counterparts, but it might still have some level of reasoning.
Either way, it was worth a try.
Peter brought it to the large bell inside the clock tower across the street and pointed at the now-empty bell. "See this bell? Just a moment ago, a guy from a parallel universe met his end right here because of me. If you don't want to end up like him, you'd better listen to Gwen from now on. Otherwise, I won't hesitate to rip you off and reunite your whole family in one place."
As he spoke, he extended a finger, releasing a trace of quantum energy.
Zzt!
His finger pierced into the web bundle, and the quantum energy formed a fine venomous sting that jabbed directly into the symbiote.
The dark, inky mass of Venom writhed violently.
Under Peter's careful control, the sting wasn't enough to kill the symbiote outright, but it still inflicted noticeable pain.
Where the quantum sting made contact, the symbiote's body stiffened and lost its vitality.
The Venom symbiote was clearly terrified. It immediately curled up into a tight ball.
"Looks like you understand," Peter said, satisfied with its reaction.
After a bit of "negotiation," they reached an agreement.
As long as Venom wholeheartedly served Gwen and performed well enough to satisfy Peter, he would help it consume other symbiotes in suitable worlds, making it stronger.
This particular Venom wasn't especially intelligent—more of a beast acting on instinct.
But it still understood the basic principle of survival: Stick with him, and there's food to eat!
With that settled, Peter returned to Gwen and handed her the web-wrapped symbiote.
Gwen knew Peter had already arranged everything for her.
Yet, she didn't mind this feeling of being taken care of.
It was strange.
If her father had done this, she would have instinctively pushed back, even if she agreed deep down. She'd at least have argued a little.
But when Peter did it, all she felt was a warm sense of being cherished.
Without hesitation, Gwen tore open a small opening in the webbing and reached her hand inside.
"You—"
Toby Spider watched with horror.
The Venom suit that he feared like a plague was being treated as nothing more than a tool for power by these two Spider-People from parallel universes.
How could they dare?!
He wanted to stop them, to make them reconsider and think this through carefully.
But just as he opened his mouth to speak, Peter stopped him.
Peter shook his head slightly and gave him a look that said, Trust us. Step back.
Toby hesitated for a moment, then decided to trust them and backed off.
Meanwhile, Gwen had already begun merging with the Venom symbiote.
The black substance slithered up her arm like a living, liquid mask, rapidly spreading over her pristine white suit.
In mere moments, it had covered her entire arm.
Then her shoulders, her full curves, her slender waist, her long and graceful legs, and her delicate feet, still clad in ballet shoes.
Finally, it reached her head.
Strangely, the Venom suit did not alter Gwen's original white Spider suit design.
Aside from turning completely black, it looked almost identical to her previous outfit.
A moment later, the Venom suit suddenly began to wriggle again.
Then, the black color across her entire body started shifting at an incredible speed.
When the transformation finally settled, Peter and the others were shocked to see that Gwen's suit had returned to its original appearance!
"This… is Venom's mimicry ability?" Peter thought for a moment before realizing the truth.
Symbiotes theoretically possess the power of mimicry. For example, in one universe, after Spider-Man removed his Venom suit, it snuck back into his wardrobe, disguised itself as his classic red-and-blue suit, and tricked him into putting it on again.
That, of course, led to Spider-Man being influenced by the suit for a second time.
Spider-Man's suit often visually reflects his emotional state or allegiance.
The classic red-and-blue design typically represents a "normal" Spider-Man.
If black is incorporated into the design, it usually means he's harboring a darker mindset.
For instance, Venom's suit or Ben Reilly's darker outfit.
Spider-Men who wear black in their costumes tend to be more aggressive than their traditional counterparts.
—Of course, this is true in most cases, but not an absolute rule.
Whoosh—
The Venom suit wriggled once more, and this time, it transformed into a casual denim outfit.
In an instant, Gwen went from a fierce and heroic Spider-Woman to a charming and adorable girl-next-door.
…Wait, something felt off.
Peter frowned slightly as he watched Gwen approach him with a light, graceful step.
"Gwen?"
"Oh, come on, why are you just standing there? Let's go, I'm exhausted. Time to rest!" Gwen beamed and casually wrapped her arm around Peter's.
Peter: ?
He wanted to refuse, but the astonishing sensation from his arm made him subconsciously reject his own rejection.
"G-Gwen, are you feeling okay?" Peter asked hesitantly.
Gwen tilted her head slightly and looked at him in confusion. "Why wouldn't I be? I've never felt better!"
As she spoke, she gave his arm a light tug.
Peter instantly felt an overwhelming force pulling at him, nearly making him stumble!
That's Gwen's strength?!!
Peter's eyes widened in shock.
He had expected that after bonding with the symbiote, "Venom Gwen" would be significantly stronger than before.
But he hadn't anticipated just how much stronger.
From that brief pull, he estimated that Gwen's strength had reached at least 30 tons!
And that was without her even exerting full force.
Before this, her strength was roughly 15 tons (official data states that Gwen is slightly weaker than Spider-Man in strength but faster in speed. Spider-Man's base strength is set at 20 tons).
In other words, the Venom suit had more than doubled her power!
That was absolutely terrifying.
And this was only for strength, which had always been her weaker attribute!
What about her speed, which was already superior to most Spider-People?
Could she really achieve "Still as a maiden, swift as a rabbit" now?
"Come on, come on, am I really Gwen? Am I feeling okay?" Gwen pulled Peter closer, lowering his posture slightly.
Then, a warm breath brushed against his ear, followed by an irresistibly teasing whisper:
"…Why don't you take a good look in a moment and find out for yourself~"
Peter: ?????
Why did my Gwen suddenly go from a sweet girl-next-door to a seductive queen?!
How did her entire vibe change so drastically?!
