Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse

Chapter 141: Chapter 140: Gwen’s Night Raid

In a place where neither Peter nor the others paid much attention—or rather, noticed but simply couldn't be bothered—Eddie Brock was grinning excitedly, clutching his camera.

Through his lens, he had captured an entire series of photos of the three Spider-Men battling the blood-red monster!

However, later, when Peter was returning the bell, he found Eddie's sneaky peeping rather annoying and casually knocked him out.

Peter checked his camera and found that most of the shots revolved around the bell.

Fortunately, there were no clear images of Toby-Spidey's face. After all, when Carnage went on a rampage and destroyed the rooftop, everything became chaotic, making it impossible for Eddie to capture anything meaningful.

After a quick review and seeing nothing particularly compromising, Peter tossed the camera to Toby-Spidey, leaving the decision up to him.

This world's Eddie Brock was indeed a bit of a sleazebag, but it wasn't Peter's place to judge or punish him.

Toby-Spidey took the camera, skimmed through the photos, and ultimately did nothing—he simply placed the camera back into Eddie's hands.

Noticing the looks from Peter and Gwen, he merely shrugged and said, "Honestly, we don't have any deep-seated hatred. He's just trying to make a living."

Peter chuckled.

Since even Toby-Spidey, the most directly affected, didn't care, Peter saw no reason to interfere further.

Shortly after Peter and the others left, Eddie Brock groggily regained consciousness—only to be met by the arriving NYPD.

Leading the team was none other than this world's George Stacy, Gwen Stacy's father.

Seriously, this guy was busy in every universe.

The intense battle at the scene left the officers exchanging nervous glances.

Thankfully, there were no civilian casualties.

So they turned to eyewitnesses—like the grumpy old man who had fired a warning shot earlier, yelling at Peter and the others for being too noisy in the middle of the night. And, of course, Eddie Brock, who had been dreaming of using his freshly taken photos to get his old job back.

Poor Eddie. His camera had barely had time to warm up before the police confiscated it as "evidence" for the investigation.

They told him he'd get it back once things were cleared up.

Helpless, Eddie could only wait—while desperately hoping he was the only one who had managed to snap those photos.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Peter and Gwen had already parted ways with Toby-Spidey and Gwen Stacy.

They had agreed to return the mutated Garfield-Spidey's body to his original world and investigate the darkness that had engulfed it.

But there was no need to rush.

Peter and Gwen had just fought a brutal battle in the Amazing Universe. Then, after only a brief rest in the Quantum Realm, they had jumped straight into Toby-Spidey's universe.

And then came the fight against Carnage—though, to be fair, it wasn't much of a fight. Carnage was surprisingly weak, and Peter just so happened to counter him perfectly.

Still, back-to-back intense battles had left them exhausted.

So they decided to rest for a while in this universe.

As for the mutated Garfield-Spidey's body, Peter stored it in the Quantum Realm.

Time didn't exist in the Quantum Realm—the only way to measure its passage was through the consumption of quantum energy.

This also meant that objects placed inside wouldn't decay.

After all, decomposition required the presence of microorganisms, and the Quantum Realm wasn't exactly a hospitable environment for them.

As for any microorganisms on the body itself?

They simply didn't exist.

The mutated Garfield-Spidey's corpse had been under Carnage's control for an unknown amount of time. Any microorganisms inside it were no match for the symbiote's power.

Its preservation was practically guaranteed.

So, storing the body in the Quantum Realm? Not a problem at all.

Peter didn't alert Paper Bag Vulture or Pterosaur Norman. Instead, he simply opened a small pocket in the Quantum Realm and placed the body inside.

As for himself, with the help of Toby-Spidey and Gwen Stacy, he took Gwen to a nearby hotel and booked two rooms.

Of course, they paid for it themselves.

The money? A generous "donation" from some street thugs in the Amazing Universe.

The worlds might be different, but the currency—Eagle Dollars—was real, so it wasn't exactly counterfeit.

At first, Gwen argued that they only needed one room.

But Peter flatly refused.

Sure, he had been eyeing Gwen's figure for a while, but she was only 17! No way was he going to make a move now.

Better to take his time.

At least, that was Peter's plan.

But it seemed someone else had a different idea.

As he lay in the bathtub, eyes closed, enjoying the soothing warmth of the water...

His Spider-Sense suddenly tingled!

His ears twitched slightly.

Click.

From the direction of the balcony, he heard a faint noise.

It sounded like... a window opening?

But when Peter focused his senses again, everything was silent.

If it had just been a sound, he might've dismissed it as the wind rattling the window.

But since his Spider-Sense had reacted…

It meant someone—or something—had entered!

And the fact that they were deliberately suppressing their footsteps strongly suggested it was a person.

But who?

He had just arrived in this universe—not even an hour ago.

The only enemies he had encountered:

One and a half.

One (Carnage-Garfield-Spidey) was already dead.

The other half (Venom) had fused with Gwen as her new symbiote suit.

So who could be visiting in the dead of night?

Peter reached for a towel while shooting a web to the ceiling, sticking his entire body to it.

The steam-covered ceiling didn't affect his wall-crawling ability in the slightest.

Meanwhile, his mind raced.

What villains existed in Toby-Spidey's world?

Green Goblin Norman Osborn (Dead).

Doctor Octopus Otto Octavius (Drowned with his research).

Spider-Man 3 had two and a half villains.

Venom? Gwen had already taken care of that.

That left Sandman and the second Green Goblin, Harry Osborn.

Coincidentally, both of them could fly.

Which meant they could've entered through the window without making a sound.

Peter's expression turned serious. Was it one of those two?

His hand instinctively moved to the Leopard Spider Emblem on his chest.

He never took it off—not even when bathing.

Click.

The door to the bathroom slowly creaked open.

A rush of steam billowed out, colliding with the cooler air in the room, instantly forming a mist that shrouded the doorway.

Within that haze, a slender, graceful silhouette emerged, causing all of Peter's tension and defenses to instantly melt away.

A breathtakingly beautiful face peeked through the mist.

She glanced at the empty bathtub, a flicker of surprise crossing her expression.

Then, lifting her gaze to the ceiling, she spotted Peter—clad in nothing but a towel.

A mischievous smirk curled on her lips.

"I'm here~"
