Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse

Chapter 138: Chapter 137: Killing the Carnage Symbiote

"So, this guy's full name should actually be... Carnage Garfield Spider?"

Boom!

A loud explosion echoed from beneath the massive bell.

Immediately after, Peter and the others felt the ceiling beneath their feet shake violently. Cracks spread outward from beneath the bell, rapidly expanding in all directions.

Peter and Gwen remained calm. With a light leap, they landed safely in an unaffected area.

On the other side, Toby-Spider swiftly grabbed Gwen Stacy, carrying her away from danger.

"Jie jie jie—thank you all for listening to Peter Parker's story. Now, it's time for Carnage to take center stage!" A towering, blood-red figure stood on the floor below, laughing maniacally.

Peter looked down at the hysterically laughing Carnage Garfield Spider, his face showing not even a hint of surprise at his sudden escape.

If he hadn't managed to break free, now that would have been surprising.

Even though this Carnage Garfield Spider didn't have the same overwhelming presence as the original Carnage symbiote, he was still a ruler of his parallel universe.

Since sound waves were his weakness, he must have taken some countermeasures against them.

The fact that the Doc Ock from that world knew about his weakness yet still got killed spoke volumes.

After finishing his taunt, Carnage Garfield Spider didn't immediately attack Peter but instead lunged in another direction—

Straight toward a webbed bag that contained Venom!

Whoosh—

He was fast, but Peter was faster.

A quantum web shot out, pulling the bag up into his hand.

Peter shook it slightly. "You want this? Come and get it."

"Hmph! Give it to me!" Carnage Garfield Spider snarled and abruptly changed direction, pouncing at Peter.

"You really think you can just take it? You're bold, I'll give you that." Peter clenched his fist, and the vibranium suit on his body began to glow.

Force acts in both directions.

As Peter repeatedly struck the giant bell earlier, the vibrations it emitted had been continuously absorbed by his vibranium suit.

Though each absorption wasn't much, the accumulated energy was substantial.

In fact, even if Carnage Garfield Spider hadn't tried to break out, Peter was nearly ready to lift the bell himself.

Boom!

"Ahhh!"

Carnage Garfield Spider was fast coming up, but he was even faster going back down.

Peter's punch landed with force likely reaching hundreds of tons!

With just one blow, even though Carnage Garfield Spider tried to adjust his position midair, his left arm was still struck directly—completely shattering it!

"Ughhh—AAARGHH!" Carnage Garfield Spider froze for a moment before letting out an agonized scream.

Peter didn't dwell on the minor misstep. With a flick of his wrist, countless webs shot out, tightly binding Carnage Garfield Spider.

Snap!

He then extended his other hand, pressing it against Carnage Garfield Spider's face.

Activating his bio-electric charge to the maximum—

He ripped downward with all his might.

Riiiip!

The entire blood-red face of Carnage Garfield Spider was torn clean off, revealing a face beneath that both Peter and Gwen found disturbingly familiar.

"It really is Garfield Spider!" Peter was slightly surprised.

The pale face before him was unmistakably the same as the Garfield Spider they had encountered not long ago in the Amazing Universe.

However, compared to that young and energetic Garfield Spider, this one exuded an eerie, chilling aura that made anyone instinctively frown.

Even now, his face was twisted in madness. "Hahaha! You can't kill me! You can't kill me! I am a demon risen from hell! I am Spider-Man from the underworld! The Carnage King who will rule the world!"

Peter sneered. "I know two Spider-Men who have returned from hell, and compared to them, you're not even worthy of carrying their shoes."

As he spoke, he delivered another punch, sending Carnage Garfield Spider sprawling to the ground.

Then, retracting his hand, he shot out a web and pulled up the massive bell that had fallen into the ruins below.

"Give me a hand," Peter said, keeping Carnage Garfield Spider pinned down while motioning for Toby-Spider to step forward.

"What do I do?" Toby-Spider asked as he approached.

"Just like how you removed the Venom suit earlier—take off this Carnage suit," Peter instructed.

"Got it," Toby-Spider nodded in understanding and quickly got to work.

The two of them grabbed hold of Carnage's body from both sides, pushing their bio-electric charges to the limit.

Meanwhile, Gwen picked up a stone and repeatedly struck the bell.

Carnage Spider-Man had already been weakened by Peter's relentless attacks. Now, trapped by three Spider-People, he had no strength left to resist.

He could only let them do as they pleased.

It was clear that the Carnage suit had been bonded to this mutated Garfield Spider for a long time.

Their connection was so intimate that they were almost fused into one.

Even with Peter and Toby-Spider using all their strength, it still took them over ten minutes to forcibly separate the two.

Without the Carnage suit, the mutated Garfield Spider collapsed limply to the ground, motionless.

Peter didn't bother checking if he was alive or dead.

He had already done his best by separating him from the Carnage suit and giving him a chance to survive.

After all, from the story Carnage had told earlier—clearly just to stall for time—this version of Garfield Spider wasn't exactly a good person.

—Maybe he had been a good person once, but harsh reality had pushed him step by step into becoming what he was today.

Without hesitation, Peter wrapped the Carnage suit in his quantum web and hurled it into the bell, which now hung suspended upside down in the air.

"ROAR!"

The Carnage suit had once devoured its "father," Venom, and though it was merely a DNA extract, it had already developed traits similar to the symbiote species.

After reaching a certain stage of growth, even without a host, it could still move independently.

Now, inside the massive bell, the Carnage suit screeched as it struggled to climb upward.

However, without a host, it resembled something akin to a Grimer from Pokémon—its lower half was shapeless sludge, while its upper half retained a vaguely humanoid form.

Peter clenched his fist once more.

This time, the glow emanating from his hand was not from the energy stored in his vibranium suit—

It was from his own quantum energy!

[Quantum Sting]!

Peter leaped into the air, his quantum energy forming a radiant sphere in his palm, and he smashed it directly into the Carnage suit's roaring face.

Sizzle—

Like countless barbed spikes, the quantum energy rapidly penetrated the Carnage suit at the point of impact.

Its DNA chains unraveled at an alarming rate, its cells solidifying and breaking down.

In mere moments, the once blood-red Carnage suit had transformed into a frozen, crimson statue—stuck motionless at the base of the bell.

It never moved again.
