Marvel: Web of Spiders

Chapter 7: 7- Home

(3rd Pov)

Just as Jayce was about to destroy one of the arms, making it unable to function, he felt his spider sense go haywire. Ducking under another swipe, he spun around Olivia to get behind her before zipping away.

BANG

Looking back, he saw the battered and bloody body of Green Goblin slowly displace itself from the wall, falling to the ground unconscious. In the crater where his body was, one could see Olivia Octavious, embedded into the wall and somehow still alive.

"Her arms must have reacted before the impact and shielded her, destroying themselves to save most of her body." Jayce said 'most' because he could tell that there were some heavily fractured and broken bones in her arms and legs.

Sighing, Jayce looked up at the panel to see that everyone was gathering around it. Smiling under his mask, he swung up there, settling down next to Miles. The youngest spider there (Debatable) pressed another button as the big-universe-shredding-machineajiggy changed colors, becoming black and white.

Miles looked up to Noir, nodding at the mostly silent man. "It's time."

Noir walked up and patted miles on the shoulder. "You've become a fine young chappa since first meeting you." He looked down at the rubik's cube, which he had been fighting while holding it the entire time. "I'm going to take this thing with me. Maybe I'll be able to solve this puzzle."

Miles smiled, patting his back. "If you need help, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm sure one of us'll be able to crack interdimensional travel soon enough."

Noir nodded. "Well, I'm glad to call you my friends." He didn't say anything more, simply dropping from the ceiling and falling straight into the singularity.

Miles then looked at Porker. Rubbing him on his head, Miles smiled down at him. "I think I might miss your awkward pig-related jokes man."

Porker chuckled, taking out his rubber mallet. "Take it, promise it'll fit in your pocket."

Miles tilted his head at the notion. Afterall, the thing was nearly the size of his torso. Even still, It did in fact manage to fit inside of his suit's pocket, where a phone was supposed to slide into. "...Well, that's all folks!"

The Spider-Pig saluted us, dropping into the singularity. Peter laughed from his spot. "Legally, is he allowed to say that?"

Shaking her head at their antics, Gwen turned to Miles, giving him a quick side hug. "So, you're gonna tell me how you got into the school? And Alchemax for that matter?"

She giggled. "Nope." She dropped.

"Well can we at least be friends?" He called out.

Just before she crossed into the portal, she turned, waving at us. "Maybe next time, Sparkles!"

And she was gone. Jayce and Peter looked at each other for a moment before slapping Miles on the back. "Good job man!"

Miles bristled, blushing. "It's not like that! I swear!"

Jayce laughed heartily, before becoming a pinch more serious. "Well, it's been all fun and games, but I think it's time for me to go home." He glanced over to see Fisk rushing into the control room, which had been destroyed in the earlier fights.

"I think you can handle him…Give me a call sometime, Miles!" He let himself fall from the ceiling. "I have a feeling we can be great friends!"

The last thing before he entered the portal was Miles' face smiling down at him. Despite the circumstances, he did actually think he could be good friends. That just made him wonder what the Miles from his world would be like.

When he passed through the portal, Jayce could feel the world around him shift, being full of a presence that he had felt before. All around him, his world transformed into a tapestry of glowing webs of all colors, like fractured windows peering into reality itself.

Falling through that space, Jayce could have sworn that he saw a giant spider somewhere inside of the chaos, but he fell into one of the webs before he had a chance to get a closer look.

Suddenly, he found himself falling through the air, somewhere in Manhattan if the Empire State was anything to base it off of. Catching himself with a web, Jayce brought himself up to the top of a building, before noticing that his outfit had changed.

"What?! My suit's gone!" Somehow, he found himself in normal civilian clothes. Patting his pockets, he found a phone tucked inside, with a sticky note attached.

-Sorry for the confusion, but that suit was from another universe and could have caused some trouble. I didn't much feel like weaving its existence into this world, so I've just provided you with a small sum of money. Anyway, have fun explaining your absence to your Mom!-

-Weaver.

"...But I liked it…"

Sighing to himself, Jayce pulled up his hoodie as he walked up to a house, the one that was in his memory, given to him by Weaver. Using the set of keys he found in his pocket, he unlocked the door, closing and relocking it behind him.

"Mom, I'm home!"

Jayce heard something fall to the floor as a set of footsteps rushed towards him. Coming out of a side room, the kitchen, a young woman in her mid 30's rushed over to him. Wrapping her arms around him, he could feel her starting to cry.

"Do you know how much you worried me Jayce?! I thought you had gone off somewhere and died!"

Holding in the sigh he was about to let out, Jayce hugged his mother tighter. "I'm sorry mom, something came up with Pete, and I had to run over. I would have called, but my phone was dead."

She continued to cry for a minute as Jayce led her over to the couch. Grabbing her favorite blanket, he wrapped it around her shoulders before starting to massage her shoulders. All of these were natural actions, as if he'd been doing them all his life.

In truth, he had realized at some point that memories other than his own were appearing in his mind, memories of a life in this world. These memories merged smoothly into his mind, becoming a part of himself as if he had just simply forgot them.

"I'm okay mom. I'm sorry I didn't call you." She had stopped crying now, her worries fading away. With that, came anger and annoyance.

"You better not pull this again, or I'll take all your consoles."

Jayce leaned down, hugging her from behind the couch. "Okay, Mom. I'm gonna go to bed now, I'll see you tomorrow."

"You better call Dr Connors and Dr Octavious to let them know why you had to leave! I'd hate for you to lose your first job after the first day." She called after him.

"Thanks for the reminder mom! And you know I can be mighty convincing… if not I'll just annoy them until they listen."
