Marvel DxD: The New Sorcerer Supreme

Chapter 24: Ch. 24 - Back to the human world!

[I just made a poll in my patreon if they want Chamber to stay as a devil or turn into human. Guess which won, stay as a devil. Anyways, looks like I'll have to scrape my plan for him to turn into a human and instead, let him stay as a devil. I hope this decision will be appreciated by everyone.]

[Also let me address the issue of slavery and such. There will be no such thing happening because the evil piece that was used on Chamber was a mere prototype, possessing only the benefits such as turning into devil and such. The concept of slavery would be introduced in the official release of Evil Pieces after the Civil War.]

"This is my new prototype of the Evil Piece, this one here is what I will call a King Piece." Inside Ajuka's laboratory, I watched with my amused eyes as Ajuka picked up a small red chess piece from his work table and showed it to me.

Taking it to my hand, I brought it closer to my eye and decided to use my magical senses on them.

However, it would soon be a mistake as instead if sensing Demonic Energy, instead, what I sensed was countless numbers and equations made of Demonic Energy threatening to burst my brain.

Immediately putting to a halt, I rubbed my eyes as I couldn't believe sensing magic was able to hurt me mentally.

As if realizing my intentions, Ajuka came over and explained.

"I see that you just tried to sense what's inside. I forget to tell you not to do that. I spent almost a year perfecting the equation for an Evil Piece." He then proceeded to explain more about the Evil Piece.

Not to brag or anything but I'm quite smart and good at math so not only I was able to keep up with him but also added my own thoughts about it.

"Wait. So you're telling me, this Evil Piece was created with the combination of Equations and your self-created runes?" I stared at the man in shock. I mean, who wouldn't be? I know how hard it is to learn runes or else Odin wouldn't held in such a high regard.

Runes are technically like coding in a computer and a single-character rune can be interpreted as an entire program.

Now imagine knowing thousands of runes and even capable of combining them that complement each other, hence the reason why Odin was known as one of the strongest Gods back in my world.

As for this world? I'm not sure yet maybe if I get the chance to meet him, I'll know how strong the Odin of this world is.

Getting back to the topic, being able to create his own runes is enough for me to acknowledge this guy's strength.

"I didn't exactly created it, I just used Odin's rune language to make my own. Without it I don't think I would be able to create one myself." Is that blush I'm seeing on his cheeks? Weird, I must be seeing things.

"Whether or not you used Odin's rune language as a reference, learning Runes itself is hard enough not to mention making one yourself." I replied with a shake of my head.

"How about you then? You were able to decipher the equations I set on the Evil Piece which took my months to come up with. Your own intelligence doesn't fall behind mine." Ajuka coughed and change the topic, turning me into the main subject.

"To be honest, it's not that impressive. I'm just good at math and stuff." Ignoring the dull look he threw at my way, I continued by asking a question.

"So what does this Evil Piece do then? From what Serafall told me, she used the Bishop piece. This one seems a bit different." I asked, referring to the Evil Piece I'm holding on my hand.

"…To be honest, I was thinking of discarding that Evil Piece. It's too strong and a bit unstable."

"I call it the King Piece. Unlike the other pieces that can only be used on different species except for Devils. The King Piece can only be used on Devils only and what it does is increase their Demonic Power ten to a hundred times depending on their current class."

"Let's say for example, a low-class devil uses this King Piece, it could immediately promote them from Low-class to High-Class. While it could promote a Mid-class to near Ultimate-class. As for High-class and above. Well, I don't suggest using the King Piece. It's a fifty-fifty."

"Fifty-Fifty?"

"Yes. Fifty percent chance they reach way beyond the Ultimate class and probably on the same level of the Satans or Fifty percent chance their body will overload and explode into pieces. Causing an explosion that could possibly erase an entire city from the face of the world." As soon as he was finished speaking, I deadpanned stared at him.

"Really? So in other words, the King Piece is a bomb. With just a few benefits added to it."

"…Yes." His answer just made my stare more deadpan.

And here, I was thinking of giving him a favor in exchange for this King Piece. Well, I'd certainly not take my chances of increasing my strength through this King Piece.

Maybe I should just create one myself, solving it should be easy enough, I just need to reduce its effects but in doing so, will also remove the negative effects.

So instead of continuing the topic, I changed it to another.

"Say, you won't mind if I take a quick look at your research about the Evil Pieces." Please agree. Please agree.

"….If you can understand them then I see no reason to refuse. I placed all my research papers and materials on that shelf." Pointing his finger at a nearby shelf, I saw many things placed on each layers.

Most consisted of folders and notebooks while the rest are broken pieces of chess pieces such as Bishops, Rooks, Pawns and many other.

However, what caught my attention was a certain chess piece that doesn't look like it was broken or ruined.

The only thing that made it different from the Evil Pieces was that this chess piece transparent and not red in color like an Evil Piece.

My curiosity got the better of me and I couldn't help but take it from the shelf.

I can feel like this transparent chess piece is the same as the Evil Piece except that it doesn't contain any Demonic Power nor any Equations or Runes.

It's like an empty Evil Piece.

As if to prove my theory, I used my magical senses towards it and sensed nothing from it, except that the material was something I've never seen before.

"Ajuka. Can I ask what this one is?" Dying of curiosity, I finally turned around and asked the creator himself.

Ajuka cast a simple glance at the piece and explained.

"Do you remember when you asked me if Evil Piece can be reversed and turn devils back to humans?" In which I nodded my head, prompting him to continue.

"I've thought about it and decided to see if I could do something about it. Unfortunately, not only I ran out of the necessary materials, but I also don't have any humans to experiment with." Ajuka shrugged his shoulders as he replied.

"What do you mean? Can't you simply just kidnap a human and do the experiment?" Right as I finished my words, Ajuka stopped whatever he was doing and monotonously stared at my eyes.

"Really? Out of everyone who would ask me that question, I wasn't expecting it to come from you, who used to be a human." His words made me scratch my cheeks in embarrassment.

Well, he's quite right. I sounded a bit harsh and cold there.

"As for why I didn't 'borrow' a human from the human world, although I'm a devil and a scientist, that doesn't mean I'd forget about my own morals. I don't want to invent things that was only created through the blood and deaths of the innocents."

Wow, I was not expecting to hear such profound words from a devil. Maybe I should start changing my perspective when it comes to devils in this world?

I've been comparing the devils of this world back to the Marvel Universe.

Maybe the devil race in different worlds are only similar in name but different in personalities.

"So halfway through the research, I stopped and abandoned the idea of turning devils back to humans. Instead, I just focused on improving the Evil Pieces." With that, his explanation was finished.

Like an NPC of a video game, the moment the interaction and questions towards Ajuka was done, he went back to his work table and resumed work.

As for me, I was left staring at the 'empty' chess piece on my hand.

A revelation was slowly passing through my mind.

Perhaps, I might finally be able to find a way to turn myself back to human. With the bonus of retaining the benefits, of course. Wouldn't want to get nerfed now do we?

"What are these Evil Pieces made of anyway? I can see that they're much more durable than a diamond." My questions once again gaining Ajuka's attention.

"Oh you mean those crystals? Actually, I only found them through luck when I was visiting Agreas Island, a city from the Agares Territory, I noticed that they're peculiar and different from normal crystals. Not only that, they're also very compatible with Demonic Power. Most materials would either be corroded or break down once exposed to Demonic Power, for some reason, this crystal doesn't." Ajuka's explanation about the crystal made me remember a certain material from the marvel world.

Uru Metal!

The same material that was used on Thor's hammer, Mjolnir and his future weapon, Stormbreaker.

Uru metal was famous not because of its durability but because Uru Metal becomes more stronger and durable, the more magic it had inside.

Though it is unknown how much magic it could carry but its feature alone is enough for it to be known as the Metal of the Gods.

So basically, this chess piece-shaped crystal on my palm might be on par with the Uru Metal.

"So you found it first? Have you found it a name?" My question seemed to make the scientist stop and think for a few seconds before answering.

"I can't come up with one for now. Maybe I'll name once the Evil Pieces are released to the public."

Resisting the itch of naming it myself, I placed the crystal on another table and grabbed a few folders containing Ajuka's research about the Evil Pieces.

It took me a few hours to read them all and understand them.

By the end of the time, I was left with a single conclusion in my mind.

Ajuka is terrifyingly smart! Probably smarter than Tony Stark himself!

***

I took an entire day staying at Ajuka's laboratory and let me tell you this. I feel like I'm now as smart as Tony Stark.

His laboratory is no doubt a treasure trove to people like Tony Stark and other renowned scientists.

Thankfully, I'm a devil now. So a whole day without any sleep didn't bother me much.

Now that I left his laboratory with a few experience and more knowledge under my belt, I'm confident to say that give me more time and I might find a way to reverse the effects of the Evil Pieces all while retaining its effects.

Maybe I should consider building my own laboratory once I'm rich enough.

Did I also tell you that Ajuka gave me a few insights about magic circles and their properties? I just need time now and I can start the process of creating my own magic circle.

Instead of visiting the Sitri family as I'm certainly missing that short oddball, I decided to visit Grandpa Rad and the siblings first.

Instead of using the portal, I used the teleportation circle instead.

Why? You may ask.

You see. Portal consumes more Demonic Energy compared to a Teleportation Circle. Which is understandable since Portals can not only instantly transport someone but also items, objects, and even energies.

So portal is not only used as a transportation but also as an offense and defense spell. You can redirect range attacks with the help of portals and your enemy's own spells against them.

A few seconds passed and the teleportation circle finally consumed me and I reappeared to a different yet familiar place.

Grandpa Rad's farm house.

However, my eye suddenly caught a small flash of light through the house's windows.

What is that?

A bad premonition suddenly appeared in my heart and rushed towards the front doors.
