Chapter 23: Ch. 23 - Late night talk with Ajuka
The meeting continued for almost an entire hour before finishing it with Zekram discussing one last problem.
Who else is the devil's biggest problem but God of the Bible himself? Well, technically it is their problem, not mine since I'm sort of acquainted with the said God.
"Although I'm a hundred percent sure that the Four Satans would perish in battle against him, I'm not sure if Big G would meet the same fate, so we need to create contingencies to make sure he would be eliminated from the board." It was Zekram who spoke, if other devils were to hear his words, no doubt he would earn countless slurls and insults calling him blasphemous and such. No sane devil talks of the Four Satans without respect, only the insane ones. In this case, Zekram could be categorized as the latter.
"Big G, can we even take on that old guy?" Gideon's lips quivered as doubt starts to rise within him. Why does it feel like they're now trying to touch some parts that aren't meant to be touched.
Normally, he joined this Faction along with his daughter because he also sees the same vision as Zekram about the future of devils, as one of the head pillars himself, he doesn't want to see the underworld littered with devil's dead bodies, as it would mean the entire extermination of their race. Hence, he agreed with Zekram and risked his entire family by joining his faction.
However, Zekram is now talking about fighting Big G of the Bible himself, when their supposed purpose is just to prevent the grim future of the devils under the rule of the Four Satans.
As for me, I didn't think much of the problem, it would be awesome to tell everyone in the room that I know God and even got a lifetime G-word pass from him, however doing so would risk suspicions toward me, so I resisted the temptation.
Zekram noticed the doubt in Gideon's face, as a matter of fact, Gideon wasn't the only one as others in the room were also in doubt whether about his true purpose or simply if they could take on such as opponent with just a few of them.
Clicking his tongue in discretion, he spoke again.
"I can understand everyone's uncertainty but allow me to clarify a few things first." Tapping his finger on the table, he continued.
"First of all, out of everyone in this room, I'm the one who know the most that we can't take him on, I met him myself and even lived to see the day as Lucifer and Michael fought to death while he sat on his throne with indifference in his face, as if what he's watching is merely an entertainment on him." I can see Zekram balling his fist while trying to supress his anger from leaking out, though even without it, I can still feel the ominous aura surrounding him at this moment, finally giving me a small glimpse of his strength.
He's strong, stronger than that red-haired Sirzechs over there. I squinted my eyes at Zekram, who thankfully, didn't notice my stare as he simply continued.
"That's why I was not encouraging us to directly fight against him, but to simply weaken him before his battle with the Four Satans," Zekram stayed silent for a few seconds, as if allowing everyone to register the meaning of his words before continuing.
"You see, in our world, there are only two being who stood at the pinnacle of the universe and I'm sure some of you already know who they are." His words quickly made my eyes widen in surprise.
Wait, so there are beings who are stronger than God? I thought he was the strongest in this world? If so, who are they? Other gods perhaps? Maybe it's the Norse mythology? No, they're not that strong. Greek? I don't think Zeus is even a match to Michael, not to mention, God himself.
I didn't dwell any longer as Zekram finally revealed the answer.
"Those are the Infinity Dragon God and the Great Red." I watched as a series of nods agreed with his statement.
Infinity Dragon and Great Red? So the former is a dragon god while the latter should be some being clad in red, right? I mean, this being must be called the Great Red for a reason.
"Two Dragon Gods, standing shoulder to shoulder in terms of strength." Oh so it's a dragon god too, interesting.
"What are you trying to imply here, Zekram?" Suddenly, Zephyr, the head of the Glasya-Labolas clan, interrupted with an annoyed tone, probably because Zekram seemed to be yapping at this point.
"Patience, Zephyr, I was on the climax of the story. You see, a few weeks ago, I discovered a being far stronger than those two Dragon Gods combined." His words immediately earned a collective gasps from the listeners as he continued.
"Allow me to name this being as the Apocalyptic Beast. I discovered this being inside the Dimensional Gap, the home of the two Dragon Gods, I wasn't sure why but this being was in a state of hibernation, no physical touch or disturbance can wake this beast up."
"At least that's what I thought at first, but when my vial of holy element that I collected from a church pope got close to the beast, its scales reacted violently, spitting flames through its gaps, flames that are hot enough to burn half of my face, if it wasn't for the Phenex Tears that I brought to myself all the time, you would be seeing a Zekram with a deformed face in front of you." Zekram then placed a large black item enough to occupy the entire surface of the table, even extending further beyond the table's edges, making everyone slide their chairs back as to not get hit by it.
I saw myself leaning forward along with the others to get a better look at the black material in front of us.
I can feel something dangerous and weird aura emitting from this material, so much that even Sirzech's destructive demonic energy pales in comparison.
Now only one question is left in everyone's minds. What is this material and why do they feel like suffocating just by being near its presence. Thankfully, Zekram soon explained.
"What you are looking at is the Apocalyptic Beast's scale, a single scale." Everyone's eyes widened in surprise, including me.
Who wouldn't be? This scale is so large that not even 50 more of myself is enough to cover this scale's surface!
"Are you sure this is a single scale? It's almost twice the size of a normal dragon's claw." It was Ajuka who spoke in disbelief, as a scientist, he probably can't believe such scale actually existed, similar to human scientist discovering beings or things they never thought would exist.
"I have no reason to lie to all of you. This Apocalyptic Beast may be dangerous, but if we use this beast right, we can use him to weaken Big G of the Bible. As for killing the old guy, trust me, it would take more than this beast to kill Big G." Zekram finished his words by leaning back on his chair, a confident smirk up on his face.
Not enough to kill God, huh? Hopefully that would be the case because there's no way in hell I would let God die, I don't think it would be a good idea for the old man to die and leave this world. Even though I'm a devil myself, I can't see myself trusting these people, especially Zekram, that eyes of his is enough to tell me that his ambition goes far beyond than just taking control of the devil race and repopulating them.
I need to be cautious around him.
"Weakening Big G and indirectly killing him." It sounds too good to be true. I hear Serafall mutter to herself.
So while everyone was occupied by the Apocalyptic Beast's scale and Zekram's 'wise' words, I took this opportunity to get a bit closer to Serafall and initiated a conversation.
"How are you feeling?" I asked, gaining her attention.
"What do you think?" She then glared at me. Seriously? You're on about that?
"Will you stop glaring at me if I apologize right now?"
"....Sigh. I'm not angry at you, I was just mad that the moment of surprise is now gone." She then stopped her glare and sighed, finally explaining the reason for her illogical anger.
"Moment of what? What do you mean?" Although I'm thankful that she's no longer angry at me, but it was now replaced with confusion.
"W-well, I was thinking of telling you that I'm a member of a super secret organization meant to protect the future of the devils, inviting you and effectively making me your senior or something..." Blushing heavily, Serafall looked anywhere but my eyes while tapping the tip of her index fingers against each other and as soon as she finished her words, she nervously chuckled.
Seriously? All those irrational glares are just because you didn't get to amaze me by making yourself mysterious and having me under you?
As much as I want to complain at her, however, I simply sighed. There's no point crying over it, as it would just make my look immature to complain about such little things.
And besides, I can't see myself yelling at this cutie patootie of a devil. I can already imagine her big and round violet eyes shimmering as tears are threatening to spill from her eyes under my 'harassment'.
"...Ehem, anyways, what do you think about Zekram's words. About God and this Apocalyptic Beast." I casually spoke, unconciously forgetting about one thing.
"That's weird, you didn't react when uttering Big G's name again?" Serafall squinted her eyes in suspicion, as I suddenly froze upon realization of my slip-up.
"I uh....been building immunity against it, these past few weeks, its quite hard not to mention his name accidentally, so I might've grown immune to the zaps. I stil do feel them though, just not that painful as the first time I said it." Thanks to my lying skills, I managed to convince Serafall, who despite still having lingering suspiscions, didn't press any longer about it and instead, veered the topic back to the original course herself.
"I think Zekram just wants the best for our race, so as long as it benefits the future of the devils, I'll stay in this faction for his vision." I think what she's trying to say is that as long as Zekram sees his vision coming true, Serafall won't be leaving any time soon. And I can't help but to agree with her.
"Will you still stay at our home?" Out of nowhere, Serafall suddenly asks.
"Why are you asking that?" I replied with a question.
"W-well, Zekram did said that you would be the representative of the human race and, I also heard what my cousin Dimitre tried to do to you, so I hope you won't bear any grudge against us just because of my cousin." Looking at her, bowing her head out of shame, I finally couldn't resist myself from patting her head as I replied.
"I don't actually mind about your cousin and his wrongdoings, you know what they say, 'A Lion doesn't concern himself with the opinions of the sheep'." Deliberately ignoring her heavy blush, I gave her a one last pat before shifting my attention to someone approaching us.
"Ajuka." I nodded my head.
"Chamber, if you don't mind, but can we have a private discussion after this meeting. This involves quite a bit about your question to me back then." I can sense how he held himself back from revealing more, however this was enough for me to know what he was talking about.
The possibility of turning a human turned devil back to his original race, which is human. Now I can see why he held this information back, I don't think Zekram would stand idle if he hears about turning devils back to humans.
I guess I'll be having a late night talk with the devil's most outstanding scientist.
