Chapter 316 : Take good care of Morgan for me
"Run!" The sudden shout exploded in Tony's ears like thunder, instantly snapping him out of his indecision.
He turned sharply and saw Ant-Man darting through the air like a tiny speck, pursued closely by the bulky figure of Deadpool—the same loud, unpredictable mercenary he had sneered at moments before.
The Peter Parker of this timeline naturally spotted the ant-sized figure fleeing from Deadpool and immediately understood an intruder was among them.
Of course, this version of Peter didn't realize that the Tony standing before him was actually the intruder.
He quickly moved toward Ant-Man, grabbed him, and activated the flight mode of the Iron Man suit.
However, just as they soared upward, Ant-Man issued a sudden warning: "Watch out!"
Before Tony could react, a flash of lightning streaked across the sky, and a figure suddenly appeared in front of them at blinding speed.
It was Pietro. Using his superhuman speed, he instantly closed the gap and delivered a powerful kick to Tony.
The force of the blow was so strong that neither Tony nor Ant-Man could resist it—they were slammed hard against the ground.
"It's bad that I've been found out," muttered the future Tony as he lay on the ground. Fortunately, his suit's protective shield activated immediately, preventing injury.
After all, this future Tony had upgraded his Mark suit countless times.
Still, seeing a crowd of superheroes closing in on him now filled Tony with a wave of pressure.
"No, wait, everyone, I'm Tony. This is all a misunderstanding—I was just testing a new gadget," the future Tony tried to calm the tense situation by pretending to be the Tony Stark of this universe.
But just as he finished speaking, a familiar voice cut through the tension.
"If you're Tony, then who am I?" The voice was unmistakably that of this universe's Tony Stark.
He removed his helmet, staring at the identical Mark suit before him, along with the miniature arc reactor glowing on the chest plate.
The presence of this Tony Stark sent a wave of aura that locked onto future Tony, intensifying the pressure instantly.
As future Tony weighed his options, this universe's Tony suddenly clapped him on the shoulder, speaking with a casual tone: "I get it, you're a fan, right? Your tech is impressive—your suit can even fly, and your reactor looks really similar. But honestly, your colors aren't as good as mine. Mine's way cooler."
There was a subtle difference between the future Mark suit and this universe's Mark suit.
Future Tony relaxed a bit hearing those words; clearly, this Tony thought of him as a fan.
Though future Tony bristled a little at being called a fan by himself, he nodded to avoid causing more trouble.
The Tony of this universe grinned and said, "Tell me where you want me to sign. You've got skills—ever thought about working for Stark Industries? There are always copycats of my armor, but this is the first time I've seen one so realistic. You must be my biggest fan."
He then waved to the others in Hell's Kitchen and said, "It's cool. He's just a fan. You guys head inside. I'll talk with him a bit."
Future Tony couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed hearing this narcissistic self-praise.
He thought bitterly, So I was really this full of myself before. But to avoid revealing his true identity, he had no choice but to let this Tony sign his Mark suit's armor plate.
After signing, the Tony from this universe gave him a firm pat on the shoulder and looked at him seriously.
Future Tony briefly thought he was about to be exposed.
But instead, this Tony embraced him warmly and led him into the Lucky Dinner Restaurant.
Relieved, future Tony and Ant-Man exchanged glances.
"Seems like the eyesight in this universe isn't great. They didn't recognize you," whispered Ant-Man teasingly, a playful grin on his face.
Future Tony wondered if his other self really hadn't recognized him or was just pretending.
But it didn't matter anymore. Just as they were about to leave, this universe's Tony paused at the entrance of Lucky Dinner and called back to future Tony: "Take care of Morgan!"
The name stopped future Tony and Ant-Man cold.
Ant-Man's eyes went wide.
They realized their cover was blown—Morgan was Tony's daughter.
"Damn, he knows who we are," Ant-Man said, surprised.
Future Tony stared toward the Lucky Dinner with a complicated expression.
Of course he noticed—this Tony Stark was smart as hell. But why would this universe's Tony want to help him?
And how did he know about Morgan? After all, future Tony hadn't even married Pepper yet at this point. The strange knowledge made him curious about this timeline, as if the people here were somehow more... magical.
But there was no time to ponder. They had to get to the rendezvous point quickly.
Their mission had failed. Now it was up to Dr. Banner and Captain America to succeed.
Lucky Dinner Restaurant
"Why didn't you expose him? Don't you want to question your own future?" Doctor Octopus asked Tony with curiosity.
He had already suspected when he saw the Mark suit, and when the group from the future appeared, he was certain.
"No," Tony said meaningfully. "Our futures are different."
"What do you mean??? Wasn't that guy just a fan of you? Wasn't he?" The only one still confused was this timeline's Peter Parker—he still didn't fully understand.
When he said this, laughter erupted through the Lucky Dinner.
S.H.I.E.L.D.
Captain America from the future ran into trouble too when he encountered someone who looked exactly like him—but the other was a woman.
