Chapter 313 : Alex took the initiative to end the war
"A quick fight to get rid of these aliens?"
Alex Ray understood the subtext in the Ancient One's tone. The Bruce Banner in front of him didn't trust them—not in their motives, nor in their ability to truly help.
The only way to win him over was to show overwhelming power. They needed to prove to this future Avenger that deception was beneath them.
"What a pain," Alex muttered with a sigh.
He'd originally refrained from acting against the Chitauri because he wanted to give his allies more time to train—and earn more friend points. Without Banner's presence, Alex might have continued holding back, only intervening if Thanos himself arrived.
As far as Manhattan's destruction went? It wasn't Alex's concern. Civilians had already been evacuated, Hell's Kitchen was secure, and he had done his part.
Alex glanced in the direction of Hell's Kitchen. Right now, the residents there were enthusiastically slaughtering the Chitauri invaders. To them, the alien army was just walking moneybags. Life without cash was far more unbearable than facing death.
And why not? They were human, too. Who said people from Hell's Kitchen couldn't defeat aliens?
The Chitauri relied entirely on advanced weaponry—but Hell's Kitchen wasn't lacking in arms either. With the Continental Hotel as their neutral ground and scientists working behind the scenes, the locals had access to top-tier gear. Thanks to the X-Corporation's resources, they could buy firepower rivaling any military force.
Alex knew better than anyone: people only stayed united by shared interests. No one would risk their lives resisting an alien invasion out of goodwill alone.
And he wasn't about to do charity work, either. After this battle, he'd file for federal reimbursement. Meanwhile, his people were already salvaging Chitauri tech and downed warships.
But enough time had passed. Everyone who wanted to cash in had done so. It was time to end this farce.
Floating in the sky, Alex looked down at the tide of alien warriors. Their savage eyes burned with hostility.
He exhaled slowly, and his voice echoed across the battlefield.
"It's getting late. Time to send you home."
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, summoning the dark forces within him.
Black magic began to stir—like a dragon awakening from slumber, roiling beneath his skin. As the power surged, a deep, dark halo enveloped his body. Alex Ray was no longer just a man; he was the embodiment of darkness.
His aura intensified. The air twisted around him, forming a massive vortex.
All the superheroes on the field felt the shift. The crushing pressure of his power turned every head.
"Alex is making a move."
"Big bro's stepping in!"
"The boss is finally acting!"
"Guess that's the end of the fight."
"Dammit! My points are almost gone—I need to down a few more ZetaRays!"
It wasn't just the heroes. Even the satellite feeds caught Alex wrapped in shadowy power.
"Holy hell, Alex looks like the final boss."
"My mom asked why I was kneeling in front of the TV. I told her I was scared."
"Just watching him gives me chills. Is this what the Lord of Hell's Kitchen looks like?"
"What kind of ultimate move is this?!"
The world was watching. As the crowd speculated on his next move, Alex opened his eyes. A sinister gleam flickered in his pupils.
He let out a low chant—and from the earth, shadows began to rise. Like demons crawling from hell, they surged toward the Chitauri below.
The Shadow Legion moved like lightning, each figure brimming with dark energy.
They tore through the Chitauri like a storm, each strike claiming a life. In mere moments, the alien ground forces were wiped out.
The sight stunned both mutants and heroes alike.
One by one, they retreated from the battlefield's center, yielding the fight to Alex.
Even the displaced residents began returning to Hell's Kitchen. If Alex was acting, they knew the danger was over.
But no one expected him to eliminate the enemy so effortlessly.
"When did Alex learn that spell?" Doctor Strange asked, voice low with concern. "Manifesting assassins from shadows... it's like the ultimate stealth technique."
He couldn't help but shiver. What if, while meditating in seclusion one day, his own shadow turned on him?
"There'd be no defense."
"This move is insane." Watching the army of shadows sweep the field, Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker couldn't help but envy it. Compared to conjuring shadow killers, his webs suddenly felt very underwhelming.
Across the globe, everyone held their breath. Eyes were locked on the screen. Alex Ray—his name now etched into the collective consciousness—had become a living legend. Every move he made gripped the hearts of billions.
Expressionless, Alex watched as the Chitauri were shredded like dry leaves in an autumn wind. But more aliens poured from the black hole above, wave after wave.
"We need to close the rift," Alex thought grimly. If he didn't seal the portal, this war would never end.
He inhaled deeply and raised his right hand.
A silver-white energy began to glow in his palm, swelling as it drew in power. Then—above him—a colossal spectral hand formed in the sky, so large it blotted out the sun.
As he slowly clenched his fist, the black hole began to shrink.
The rift screamed like a wounded beast as invisible forces closed in on it.
Each tightening of his fingers constricted the portal further.
With one final surge of energy, Alex slammed his fist shut—and the black hole collapsed in on itself, vanishing into nothing.
The world fell into silence.
Only Alex remained in the sky, silhouetted against the fading remnants of the rift.
The viewers were dumbfounded.
"No way…"
"I just watched him crush a black hole with his hand like it was a piece of fruit."
"This can't be real. This has to be CGI or something. Humans can't do that. Can they?"
It wasn't just the civilians who were stunned. Even the Ancient One—Sorcerer Supreme—was shaken.
Unlike the rest, she knew the truth.
Alex's manipulation of space was thanks to the Space Stone.
But his mastery of it… that was something else entirely.
It had taken her over 2,500 years to even begin unlocking the full potential of the Time Stone.
And yet, Alex Ray—Lord of Hell's Kitchen, wielder of chaos magic, mutant, warrior, strategist, and dimensional wild card—handled the Space Stone like it was a part of him.
