Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 311 : Strange will take over as the Sorcerer Supreme

Dr. Banner from the future stared seriously at the golden knight before him. He could feel the pressure radiating from the figure—it was overwhelming. Even if he transformed into the Hulk, he doubted he could win against this golden knight.

The future Banner couldn't help but marvel at the level of technology in this universe. To create such intricate armor… incredible.

This golden knight must be the boss that Strange had mentioned—Alex Ray.

He hadn't expected Alex's scientific capabilities to surpass even those of Tony Stark in his own universe.

Alex stepped through the portal and immediately saw Strange and the Ancient One waiting. He promptly canceled his transformation, reverting to his normal appearance, then respectfully greeted the Ancient One.

He gave Strange a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Wow, I didn't think the real you would show up today. I thought you'd just send a clone again—hahaha."

Strange chuckled with a hint of embarrassment. He hadn't intended to come personally, but the Ancient One insisted.

Alex finally turned to the man beside them. "Hello. You must be Dr. Bruce Banner from another universe."

Banner blinked, momentarily caught off guard. He hadn't introduced himself yet, so how did this man know him?

And more importantly, Alex—who appeared quite ordinary in his untransformed state—was somehow Strange's superior?

Still, the future Banner managed a polite smile. "Hello, Mr. Ray. Yes, that's right—I'm Bruce Banner, from a parallel timeline."

"I heard you possess two Infinity Stones," Banner said. "Would you be willing to lend them to us? Don't worry—we'll return them."

"They're on me," Alex replied calmly. "But why should I lend them out? And even if I did, what could you possibly offer in return?"

Alex already knew he would probably end up helping them eventually. But he didn't want to hand over the gems so easily. Things gained without effort are often taken for granted.

Besides, he wasn't naive. Taking the Stones out of this timeline could cause unpredictable consequences.

This universe was his base of operations.

Banner hesitated. "I promise to return the Stones. As for compensation… how about my team and I help you handle the alien crisis?"

He wasn't sure what Alex needed or what he could offer. It was all he had.

Alex chuckled softly. "Take a look around. Do you think we need your help?"

That made Banner pause. He hadn't paid much attention to the environment earlier—he'd been focused on keeping a low profile and pleading with the Ancient One.

But now, urged by Alex's words, he looked closer—and what he saw left him stunned.

There were individuals transforming just like the Hulk. A woman with clouded eyes controlled lightning with ease. Other people were spewing fire, their eyes glowing with power. Some manipulated electricity effortlessly.

Wasn't Thor the only one who could do that?

And speaking of Thor… had he gotten skinnier in this universe?

Why hadn't Banner had this kind of support during his own battles?

Manhattan looked like it was on the brink of destruction.

And yet… there were no other Avengers here besides Tony. No sign of Captain America. No Hawkeye.

"What the hell is going on?" Banner's eyes widened. "Who are these people? Why are there so many Chitauri? Did you trigger some cosmic backlash? We didn't face this many during our battle!"

The shocked look on his face was unmistakable.

"Relax," Alex said. "These are the heroes of Hell's Kitchen. Some are mutants."

"And as for the Chitauri being so aggressive?" Alex's lips curled into a confident smirk. "That's probably because I took the Mind Stone from them not long ago."

"Now," he added, "do you still think I need your help? To be honest, the situation is quite favorable for us."

Banner fell silent, deep in thought.

For a brief moment, he even considered trying to take the Stones by force.

But when his eyes met Alex's, he hesitated. Alex looked unassuming—almost fragile—but the strength Banner sensed in him was overwhelming. And it wasn't just physical power. There was something deeper—an intangible, commanding presence.

At that moment, the Ancient One, who had remained quiet until now, finally spoke.

"Go, Alex," she said. "Head over there."

Strange lit up instantly. If Alex left, he might not have to go.

But then the Ancient One continued, and Strange's smile froze.

"Strange will go with you. You two will go together. I feel more at ease knowing he's with you."

She gave Alex a meaningful glance. His presence had already altered this universe's trajectory. Without him, perhaps the future Bruce Banner described would've become their own.

But with Alex here, even Strange had grown more cautious, and the overall direction had shifted for the better.

Truthfully, the Ancient One had already decided from the start. She wanted Alex to take Strange with him to broaden his horizons.

If Strange went alone, she might've honored Banner's request directly.

But with Alex involved, she had no doubts the task would be handled successfully—and Strange would benefit from the experience.

Strange had grown too comfortable, too reliant on his path. How could someone like that resist Dormammu?

Only by confronting his counterparts in other universes might he truly grow.

Alex had initially intended to refuse the mission. But when he heard the Ancient One's conditions, he had no choice but to agree.

Once this mission was complete, she would appoint Strange as the new Sorcerer Supreme.
