Chapter 310 : Strange: Alex is my boss, go to him if you have any problem.
Dr. Bruce Banner stared angrily at Stephen Strange. He hadn't expected that the Ancient One had agreed to lend the Time Stone, only for this Strange to refuse to help them.
"Master," Banner said, stepping forward impatiently, "if Strange won't go, then give it to me. We'll return the Time Stone once we're done."
But the Ancient One raised a hand, stopping him.
Banner looked at her, confused.
"I said I'm lending it to you," she replied calmly, "but Strange must go with you. That is my condition."
Banner sighed in frustration and turned to Strange. "Why?"
Strange opened his mouth to respond, but the Ancient One cut him off. "Let your real body come over first."
Strange froze, clearly embarrassed. Banner looked back and forth between the two, even more bewildered.
What the hell is going on in this universe? Not only were there more superheroes, but even this Strange looked startled and hesitant.
Strange clearly wanted to resist. As long as his real body didn't show up, he had an excuse to avoid traveling to another dangerous world. But just as he was about to speak, his eyes met the Ancient One's—and he immediately backed down.
With a reluctant wave of his left hand, Strange summoned a glowing portal.
Future Banner rubbed his eyes in disbelief as another Stephen Strange stepped through.
The newly arrived Strange gestured—and the one who had been standing there vanished like mist.
Was their Strange not actually dead? Had only a projection been lost?
"Master," the real Strange asked with a wry smile, "is it truly necessary that I go? Couldn't we just leave the Time Stone here and let them figure it out?"
The Ancient One didn't reply. She simply smiled knowingly, as if she had already seen through every excuse.
Strange sighed. He knew full well that although she seemed serene, her will was like iron. Once she made a decision, nothing would change it.
"Fine. I'll go." Strange turned to Banner. "But you should know—taking the Time Stone to your universe doesn't mean it'll help."
Banner frowned. "What do you mean?"
"I'm guessing you no longer have any of the Infinity Stones in your universe. That's why you came to ours looking for the six, right?" Strange asked.
Banner nodded.
"Well then," Strange said dryly, "don't count on getting the Space Stone or the Mind Stone."
Banner blinked. "Why not?"
"Because," Strange said, "they're both in the hands of the same man."
"Who?"
"Alex Ray."
"Who the hell is Alex Ray?" Banner muttered. "That's not the first time I've heard his name. And why does he have two Stones? Is he trying to conquer the universe?"
"Sounds like you know him," Strange remarked. "If you're that curious, why not go find him yourself? Maybe you can try convincing him to lend you the Stones."
"Wait—you know him?" Banner asked urgently. "Can you take me to him? Could you help persuade him?"
Strange let out a short laugh. "Unlikely. Alex Ray is my boss. And technically, my uncle."
"Wait, what?!" Banner was stunned.
In Banner's own universe, their Stephen Strange was someone who stood above most others, aloof and untouchable. They had always seen each other as collaborators at best—not equals, certainly not subordinates.
But here, this Strange had a boss? And he acknowledged him willingly?
Who the hell is Alex Ray?!
Strange gave Banner a deadpan look.
To Strange, calling Alex his "boss" was a bit of a formality. He didn't owe Alex obedience—but he did owe him respect. This universe had shaped him differently than his other self. He no longer had the ego of a spotlight-hogging sorcerer.
Truth be told, Strange didn't even do much under Alex Ray. He called him boss mostly to avoid trouble.
But Alex wasn't a tyrant. He was someone who genuinely helped his allies. He didn't treat people like subordinates—he saw them as comrades.
That's why Strange wasn't really trying to put Banner down. He just didn't want to get entangled. He knew Banner and his team would end up looking for Alex anyway.
Might as well pass the problem to him.
Besides, Alex was always in one of two places: either Kamar-Taj or Hell's Kitchen.
And as far as Strange was concerned, those were the only two safe havens left in this world. Everywhere else was chaos.
Seeing Strange's expression, Banner knew he wasn't joking.
"So... how do I find him?" Banner asked quickly. "I'd like to speak to Mr. Ray in person."
"Well, he's at the center of the battlefield..." Strange said, glancing in that direction. Then, as if realizing something, he amended, "Actually, never mind. He's already here. You can talk to him yourself."
Another portal opened beside Strange.
And out stepped a dazzling golden figure clad in Kamen Rider armor—Kamen Rider Legend, in all his radiant glory.
Alex Ray.
The golden armor shimmered like sunlight, and his presence radiated strength and command. He looked like someone who didn't just fight gods—he made them rethink their life choices.
