Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 221 : Council of Reeds

These guys in the Reed Council are really haunting us." Kang the Immortal rubbed his temples as a headache threatened to overwhelm him at the thought of that group of genius "rubber men," despite having endured the baptism of history countless times.

Though the Kang Council has wielded great power across time, it is not without rivals.

The Reed Council—composed of brilliant men from various universes, each wielding powerful science and magic—is their greatest opponent.

If it came to a direct confrontation, the Kang Council could hold their own. But what Kang the Immortal fears most are the Reed Council's cunning minds.

They always devise unpredictable strategies that make it nearly impossible to guard against them.

It just so happened that a man named Alex Ray might draw the Reed Council's attention.

And the Reed Council despises people like Alex Ray—those who try to rewrite the fate of the multiverse—more than anything.

This hatred is nothing new.

Long ago, there was a mysterious man from the East whose existence threatened the multiverse itself.

At first, Kang the Immortal sought to recruit him, hoping to harness his power for his own ends. But the mysterious man rejected the offer, and a fierce battle erupted between them.

Though Kang was defeated, he escaped thanks to his vast wisdom and resources.

Initially, the Reed Council did not invite the Kang Council to unite against this man, but after suffering grievous losses at his hands—countless Reeds fell tragically—they had no choice.

They finally joined forces to eliminate the threat destabilizing the multiverse.

Kang was more than once thankful there was only one such man. Had there been many mutants like him, or companions, the outcome could have been very different.

Now, facing this young man named Alex Ray, Kang the Immortal felt a complicated mix of anticipation and worry.

He planned to use Alex Ray to draw the Reed Council's focus and ease his own pressure.

At the same time, he feared Alex Ray might interfere with his grand designs to unify the multiverse.

Regardless of the outcome, Kang was ready to deal with it.

If the Reed Council did not act first, Kang would destroy Alex Ray himself when the opportunity arose.

. . . . . . . .

Reed Dimension Council

The council's base exists among countless dimensional bridges in the void.

From here, anyone can travel to other universes. It is also where the Reed Council recruits members.

The Reed Council's ultimate goal is to maintain multiversal stability and help other universes solve their crises.

Each Reed here is the smartest being in their respective universe, endowed with immense scientific prowess.

Building a time machine is elementary to them. They also possess a variety of advanced weapons and even three Infinity Gauntlets.

Any one of these weapons can destroy a planet.

Beyond their arsenal, the Reed Council wields a mysterious collar capable of suppressing Doctor Doom's intelligence, rendering him docile and controllable.

Through this device, the Council created a powerful army of Doctor Doom variants, key enforcers of multiversal peace.

At the round table, three Reeds sat silently, each with an Infinity Gauntlet shining with strange light before them. These were symbols of their founding status and infinite power within their respective universes.

Reed from Universe No. 2, dressed in a sharp suit, looked alert.

He frowned slightly and broke the silence first: "So, what urgent matter has called us here today?" His tone was tinged with doubt, clearly puzzled by the sudden summons.

Usually, they had little chance to convene given their vast responsibilities across universes.

But Reed from Universe No. 1 was different.

He closed his eyes in deep contemplation, emanating an aura of otherworldliness.

His bald head and long beard made him look more like a monk than a cosmic power.

After a moment, Reed from Universe No. 1 spoke slowly.

His voice was deep and commanding, each word seeming to carry the weight of a thousand pounds: "I have received intelligence that a man named Alex Ray is attempting to alter the fate of the Spider-Man Alliance. He is trying to disrupt Spider-Man's established events."

Hearing this, the monk-like Reed opened his eyes sharply, a fierce aura bursting forth.

A sharp light flashed in his gaze as if piercing all illusions. He instantly grasped the gravity of Reed's warning: Alex Ray posed a tremendous threat to the multiverse.

"It has been a long time since someone with the power to change fate has appeared," the monk Reed said solemnly. "We must swiftly eliminate such a threat to preserve multiversal stability."

As he finished, the atmosphere around the table grew tense.

"But we lack sufficient manpower," replied the suited Reed.

Some Reeds must protect their own universes, others guard against Kang's Council, and the rest stand ready against attacks from the Mad God at any moment.

There are simply no spare forces to deal with Alex Ray, even if he resembles the mysterious man we defeated long ago.

The suited Reed believed Alex Ray was not that man reincarnate, and their primary threat remained the Mad God.

Many Reeds have died fighting that cosmic entity.

The priority is to eliminate the Mad God first; everything else is secondary.

"And we don't even know which universe Alex Ray comes from," the suited Reed added. "The Spider-Man Alliance is one of our allies. We cannot risk alienating them over a single individual. Also, Kang has been restless lately."

The monk Reed nodded in agreement. He knew the Council was in a precarious position and caution was necessary.

Then Reed from Universe No. 1 spoke again: "Perhaps we should first locate the world Alex Ray inhabits. Once identified, the Reed of that world can handle the problem.

Each Reed has the responsibility to maintain their own universe's stability. Meanwhile, we focus on threats from the Mad God and Kang."

The others agreed.

This approach balanced eliminating Alex Ray's threat without diverting too many resources.

Reed belonging to Alex Ray's world was on his way to an Illuminati meeting room accompanied by a striking man carrying a magenta camera.
