Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 218

Gwen hadn't expected that in just a short time away, Spider-Man's base would be completely transformed. She stood at the threshold, stunned by the destruction before her.

If it hadn't been for repeatedly confirming the coordinates on her Dimension Watch, she would never have believed this was the same familiar Spider-Society headquarters.

Her eyes scanned the area—what was once a clean, orderly operations center was now in utter chaos. One half of the base had been split apart like a crushed tin can.

"Come on, we have to see what happened!" Gwen urged the Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire versions of Peter Parker anxiously.

Her chest tightened with worry. She didn't know if her teammates—her friends—were even still alive.

Garfield's Peter sensed her concern. Though he wasn't close with many in the Spider-Society, he did know one person here—Alex Ray. And he was worried whether Alex had been caught in the attack.

Tobey's Peter, on the other hand, had a different suspicion. Something told him this wasn't the result of an enemy invasion… but something that Alex Ray himself might have caused.

After all, in his experience, only Alex had the power—and audacity—to cause such chaos in the Spider-Society's headquarters.

Still, he wasn't about to jump to conclusions without evidence.

The three of them quickly moved through the wreckage, searching for any surviving Spider-Men.

They knelt beside the unconscious variants, lifting them gently and asking questions—but found no answers. No one could explain what had happened.

With no clues to guide them, they could only press forward, dragging injured Spider-Men from the debris and hoping someone could talk.

Finally, after what felt like hours, Gwen found someone who was still conscious.

Spider-Woman was hunched over a shattered console, doing her best to stabilize the spider web system. Her eyes were focused, brows furrowed, clearly pushing through pain to complete her task.

Nearby, Hobie Brown—Spider-Punk—was slouched against a wall, his body bruised and trembling. Despite the exhaustion on his face, his spirit hadn't broken.

Gwen approached him carefully. His tattered clothes barely concealed the tremors in his limbs, and his clenched jaw spoke volumes.

She knew Hobie had been through hell.

"What happened here? Was it an enemy attack? Where's the boss?" she asked, her voice cracking with urgency.

She needed answers. Needed to know if Alex Ray was still alive.

Hobie didn't respond. He simply shook his head in silence.

The gesture chilled Gwen to her core.

Her heart raced. Was Alex dead? Had the entire Spider-Society been wiped out?

Was this all her fault?

Had Miles Morales' decision to defy fate and alter his canon events triggered a multiversal backlash?

Her mind spiraled into guilt. She'd gone to see Miles, tried to help him. But maybe that one act had doomed them all.

She gritted her teeth, the regret gnawing at her.

Just then, the Peter from Earth-616 (the "lying flat" version) approached, carrying the injured Aunt May variant.

"No, no," he explained, trying to reassure her. "Hobie doesn't mean he's dead. He means nothing bad happened to Alex."

Gwen exhaled in relief, but as she turned to look at the collapsed base around them, she found that hard to believe.

Nothing happened?

The place was practically in ruins. The spider web system was hanging on by threads.

The lying-flat Peter shrugged and said, "It's true. We just had a little 'exchange' with Alex Ray."

"A competition? You're telling me this destruction came from a friendly sparring match?" Gwen replied, incredulous.

"Wait—what? You're saying Alex Ray took on everyone here?" Garfield's Peter couldn't believe his ears.

"Yep," said the lying-flat Peter, looking dejected. "I've come to terms with it. We're no match for him."

"That guy took down our entire Spider-Society—including Miguel O'Hara and his inner circle—with two moves."

Even for someone who preferred to slack off, the realization shook him. Seeing someone so young and absurdly powerful was... humbling.

Gwen looked at him, then turned to Hobie. "Seriously? Just two moves?"

Hobie said nothing—but his clenched fists spoke louder than words.

Gwen had thought that Alex Ray and Miguel O'Hara would be at each other's throats after a battle like this.

But as she rushed into the main chamber, she found something entirely different.

The room echoed with laughter and casual conversation. Spider-Men crowded around Alex Ray like fans at a concert.

If not for their bruises and torn suits, she might have thought they were celebrating a party, not recovering from a massacre.

"Brother Alex Ray, your armor is insane! Is there any chance I could study its structure?"

"Mr. Ray, here's my card. You ever want to visit my universe, I'll show you around."

"Alex Ray, are all the people in your universe as strong as you?"

Alex smiled at each of them, wrapping his arms around shoulders, as if they hadn't just been trying to subdue him minutes ago.

Meanwhile, his system interface flooded his vision with alerts:

"Congratulations, host. Scarlet Spider Ben Reilly has added you as a friend."

"Congratulations, host. Iron Spider Peter Parker has added you as a friend."

"Congratulations, host. Evil Spider-Man Peter Parker has added you as a friend."

"..."

"Congratulations, host. Spider-Man 2099 Miguel O'Hara's friendship has reached four stars."

"Congratulations, host. Gwen Stacy's friendship has reached five stars."

"Congratulations, host…"

The notifications stacked rapidly. Alex's cheeks twitched from smiling so much.

"All right, all right, we're family now," he said with a wave. "Drop by my universe anytime. I've got a few more mechs like this one."

"You guys aren't weak. Just keep training—don't give up."

Spider-Man 2099 stepped forward, rubbing his sore shoulder and glaring at Alex. "You were too rough. You wrecked the entire base."

Alex raised both hands in mock innocence. "Hey, I held back, okay? I could've hit harder."

In truth, he'd only used a fraction of his abilities—just his Kamen Rider Killbus Spider form. No chaos magic. No Kyoka Suigetsu. No Mjolnir. No telepathy, haki, or space manipulation.

If he'd gone all-out, the entire dimension might've folded.

"Anyway," Alex continued, "I won the bet, didn't I? Time to pay up."

Miguel scowled but nodded. "Fine. I'll make the announcement when the others wake up. But this is on you—you were ruthless."

Alex laughed again, surrounded by new allies, new power—and a slowly forming multiversal family.
