Chapter 206 : The man with the pink camera
Before heading upstairs, Alex Ray didn't forget to comfort the visibly distressed Harry Osborn.
Naturally, Alex understood what was going on. Harry was reluctant to leave behind the version of his father, Norman Osborn, from another universe.
"Harry, what's wrong? Shouldn't you be happy that you saved your father from another world?" Alex asked, though he already knew the answer.
"No... I'm just worried that the Green Goblin persona will reemerge. That helmet was only a prototype, and we don't know how long it will hold," Harry replied, trying to appear strong, not wanting to reveal his vulnerability.
"Instead of sitting here worrying, why not bring him here for treatment? We could ask Professor X to eliminate the Green Goblin's personality once and for all."
Just as Alex finished speaking, a flash of light lit the room—and Norman Osborn, still wearing the prototype suppression helmet, suddenly appeared before them.
Alex had used the system's home function to summon him.
Norman looked around, confused. "Where am I? Why am I here?"
But the moment he saw Harry, his expression changed completely—lighting up with joy. "Harry! My son!"
He rushed forward and embraced him tightly.
Harry felt his father's warmth and couldn't hold back the tears that welled up in his eyes.
He hadn't expected to see his father again. He knew it was all thanks to Alex Ray.
Looking up at Alex, Harry said sincerely, "Thank you, Mr. Ray."
Alex smiled and shook his head. "Don't thank me, Harry. It's what I had to do. Now, you two take your time to talk. If you want to explore this world later, just let me know."
With that, Alex turned and walked upstairs, leaving father and son the privacy they never had in their original universe. Now, they finally had a chance to talk—really talk.
On the second floor, Alex sat on the couch and reviewed his recent gains.
This trip to Garfield's universe hadn't gone entirely smoothly, and the rewards were relatively modest.
The system had recorded six new characters: Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Dr. Curt Connors (the Lizard), Doctor Strange, Iron Man (Tony Stark), and Norman Osborn.
But Alex could only unlock three of them for now; the remaining three were still sealed.
It would take time—and system resources—to unseal them, meaning Alex couldn't summon them to his base just yet.
It was worth noting that Tom Holland's Peter had only reached a five-star friendship level. In fact, Alex had only received the system's notification confirming the friendship after returning to his own universe.
This trip had only yielded three family points.
However, in another timeline, Alex had seen a future version of himself arrive on Earth and meet the Spider-Man League.
Strangely, most of the Spider-Men he met had already become one-star friends with him—even though he didn't know how. Still, Alex was confident that he could eventually win them over with kindness and perseverance.
His next mission was to find Mister Negative, Cloak, and Dagger—and persuade them to join his forces in Hell's Kitchen.
Only by doing this could he prevent the impending disaster.
At this point, Hell's Kitchen no longer required Alex's constant attention.
With so many powerful allies now tied to the region, there was no force on Earth that could stand against them.
Alex could proudly declare that through his tireless efforts, Hell's Kitchen had become a transcendent power. Nobody wanted to face the wrath of Hell's Kitchen anymore.
The days when Hell's Kitchen was a "starter zone" were long gone. Any hero with real skills would think twice before trying to take it on solo.
Initially, Alex had planned to investigate the mysterious Illuminati, but now he had to prepare for the arrival of two extremely troublesome individuals: Tsukasa Kadoya and Daiki Kaito.
Both were well-known for the chaos they left in their wake—one was dubbed the Destroyer of Worlds, the other a world-class thief.
Tsukasa Kadoya (a.k.a. Kamen Rider Decade) earned his reputation because every world he visited seemed to collapse behind him. Though it wasn't entirely his fault, the title stuck.
Even someone as powerful as Kamen Rider Zi-O had to destroy and reshape his own universe when Tsukasa arrived. If Tsukasa's power hadn't been drained by half, Zi-O might never have succeeded in reshaping anything.
Alex, unfortunately, did not possess the power to rebuild a universe.
Daiki Kaito (a.k.a. Kamen Rider Diend) was no easier to deal with. Constantly scheming to steal treasures from other worlds, he had a particular interest in the Marvel universe's countless artifacts and relics.
Alex understood his own limits.
He had no illusions about being able to defeat Tsukasa in his Kamen Rider Eternal form, even with the Lost Driver and Eternal Memory. The odds were slim.
Sure, the battle might start off balanced, but if Tsukasa activated his Decade Complete Form—with cards covering his body and that signature purple aura—Alex would be in serious trouble.
He had considered calling for backup to even the odds.
But he quickly dismissed the idea.
This was a Rider's duel between men. Introducing external superpowers would taint the honor of the fight.
Besides, Alex hoped to raise Tsukasa's favorability through this clash, which could help him obtain more Rider cards in the future.
That was way more efficient than relying on the system's gacha mechanic.
With that in mind, and determined to grow stronger, Alex decided to try his luck once more.
"System, I want to draw a lottery!"
"Congratulations to the host for obtaining: Evol Driver."
Alex scowled at the new belt in his hand and cursed the system. "Are you kidding me? What's the point of giving me the Driver without a Fullbottle?"
"Draw again!"
"Congratulations to the host for obtaining: Kirabasu Spider Fullbottle."
Alex examined the crimson Fullbottle in his hand, deep in thought. Maybe he really could infiltrate the Spider-Men's base in disguise.
He began brainstorming names. Should he call himself Hell Spider-Man? Or Kirabasu Spider-Man?
While Alex was pondering this—
Inside S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, two figures stepped out of a glowing rift in space.
"If I hadn't sensed a new Rider being born here, I wouldn't have been able to come," muttered a man wearing a magenta jacket and a camera around his neck, his hair as rebellious as his attitude.
"This universe smells like it's filled with treasures," the man beside him said, scanning the surroundings with a toy blaster slung lazily in his hand.
"I'm warning you, Kaito," the first man said, narrowing his eyes. "There are people here who are stronger than both of us. Don't get yourself killed—I'm not going to save you."
At that moment, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent approached them and said sternly, "Hey, you with the pink camera—and you too, blaster guy. Follow me. I'll take you to debriefing."
