Chapter 492: Travel and Non-Travel Travel Chapter Thirty-Eight Naval Battle_3
"First, use the planks to brace it, and be ready to fill any gaps at any time!" Jebor tightly gripped his crumpled sailor's cap, unable to take his eyes off the skeletal gelatinous creature above: "God of the Sea, what curse is this? Have mercy on us poor souls!"
"Everyone except the necessary crew for sailing, get off the deck!" Macken shouted loudly, replacing a new plank, encouraging the stunned crew as he swung it into place: "Pull yourselves together, hasn't this monster still failed to deal with us so far?!"
Lynch wobbled to his feet, using his Powerful Wand to support himself. Although the skeletal gelatinous creature had returned to its original form, not needing his force field wall for support anymore, the mage still felt a deep sense of helplessness. "Undead! Absorb the creature's stamina as quickly as possible and send it plummeting into the depths of the sea."
Despite the ghosts and shadow creatures giving their all, the gelatinous monster was simply too massive, essentially a conglomerate of corpses, showing a certain resistance to the undead's attacks. The gray gelatinous mass couldn't counterattack the already disembodied undead, but it could still choose to ignore these tiny nuisances and advance slowly yet irresistibly.
"Wall of Fire!" Lynch ignited a blazing fire on the transparent force field wall; the sudden heat forced the gelatinous monster to recoil in fear. It seems like these sea-dwelling creatures still remembered the threat posed by flames. Yet, driving away the gelatinous monster with fire would take a long time, and the flames on the force field wall wouldn't last long due to the lack of combustible materials.
The "Sea Snail" suddenly listed sharply, accompanied by the sound of something breaking. The clear "crack" sound tightened every crew member's nerves. While there might be ways to deal with the monster on the ship, any crew who fell into the sea were doomed to become the gelatinous monster's prey. Lynch could make a few people fly, ensuring at least he, Zilvra, and Macken could safely leave the sea region. But without a ship, they couldn't survive on the open sea.
"Damn it! It looks like we have to risk everything!" Lynch shouted to Macken: "Knight, protect Zilvra on deck, if anything happens to her, I won't spare the Paladin!" With that, Lynch rushed into the cabin without waiting for Macken's response.
The ship's hull already had several cracks, and seawater had risen to ankle level. But with the gelatinous monster's presence, the leakage would temporarily not be a major issue. The sailors held repairing planks, patching the cracks, yet these fragile things were insufficient to stop the gelatinous monster's infiltration.
"Damn thing!" Lynch directed a lightning beam at a wall crack. In the water, only this kind of magic retained its power. The gray gelatinous substance was blown away, the paralysis effect making it spasm and retreat. Seawater poured in, but the sailors, who had been waiting by the side, resolutely held it off.
The situation at the bottom of the ship was even worse, with a large crack on the keel. If the gelatinous monster exerted more force, the keel would break, completely crushing the ship. Lynch quickly put his hand on the ship's bottom, pulling out the Creation Law scroll, beginning to transform the ship's material type.
The skeletal gelatinous monster had numerous bone fragments inside, hindering its agility, giving the mage time to cast his spell. However, in such haste, Lynch didn't have time to convert the ship into something ultra-durable like Mithril, the Iron Dragon Bone was the limit of his capability.
"Is this enough?" The crew, with incredulous expressions, touched the hardened ship's surface: "How can something made of iron float on water?"
"Whether it floats is a matter for later!" Lynch tucked the scroll back into his robe: "First, we have to deal with the monster in front of us!"
With a booming sound, the entire Sea Snail flew sideways, creating a towering splash on the water's surface. The people on the deck were soaked through by the ocean. Thankfully, most clung to the ropes and weren't thrown off the ship. But those below in the cabin were unprepared and hurled against the iron ship walls.
Lynch once again used the power of his "left hand" to dismiss the impact he received, standing steadily at the cabin's bottom. Many sailors smashed their heads on the iron plates and were severely injured, with many collapsing from the blows.
