Chapter 493: Travel and Non-Travel Travel Chapter Thirty-Eight Sea Battle_4
"It seems the gelatinous monster has temporarily let go, this is an opportunity!" Lynch grabbed a barely injured guy next to him and pushed him towards the hatch: "Tell the captain to start the ship quickly!"
Because even the iron cabin walls were starting to deform, with a noticeable dent not far from the mage. The gelatinous monster had only used enough force to break wooden planks before, leaving the iron plate unharmed. Next time, when it uses full strength, Lynch will have no way to stop it.
After thinking for a bit, Lynch gave a quick reminder, "Always be cautious about patching leaks, and be careful of burns," then dashed to the deck. Not far from them, the gelatinous monster broke through the waves like a towering giant wave crashing down in a tsunami. Little Soka was frantically shooting arrows in the air, but her attacks seemed futile against the colossal wave. Zilvra looked at Lynch, smiled slightly despite the bleeding wound on her foot. Only Macken kept throwing ropes into the sea, trying to quickly rescue the crew who had fallen overboard.
"If you want to eat us, then try it!" Lynch stood at the ship's position, the place closest to the gelatinous monster: "If this is to be my end, then you will go to hell before me!"
With that, he unleashed a wall of fire at his feet, igniting the wooden outer layer of the entire ship. The crew stared in shock, not understanding what Lynch intended to do. Was he choosing to end his life to avoid the agony of being dissolved? Apart from Knight Macken, who was still tossing the rope into the fiery waters below and pulling with all his might despite the risk of burns, everyone else was dumbfounded.
"Start the ship quickly! Leave these waters!" Lynch shouted to the captain: "There's a layer of iron below the planks, it won't burn through the ship immediately. But if we don't hurry, who knows what might happen!"
"There's no wind, so what can I do?" The captain's eyebrows and hair had already started to curl up due to the heat; standing at the highest point, he felt the intense temperature the most: "Can you create some wind?"
Lynch measured the distance to the gelatinous monster, then nodded: "Hold onto the ship, we're going airborne! Zilvra, be careful!"
He then threw a lightning ball into the sea beneath the ship's stern.
"Come chase us if you have the guts! You snotty blob!" Lynch cursed at the gelatinous monster in front and gripped the ship's railing tightly. An enormous explosion occurred underwater, sending a huge wave between the stern and the gelatinous monster. Although there was no wind, the Nautilus was still driven forward, while the gelatinous monster was pushed back a bit. The tremendous turbulence caused the ship to creak in agony, as if testing its endurance to see if it could break free before the monster's resolve shattered the hull.
The second, third, and fourth explosions occurred at the stern, but the gelatinous monster kept following closely. Lynch already sensed the ship's limits; neither fire nor the impact of the waves would spare the Nautilus from destruction. A silver light sphere appeared in his left hand, ready to unleash his full power on the monster before him. If unsuccessful, he would only have enough mana left to fly his companions skyward.
Whether due to the overwhelming flames or the prey's resilience, the gelatinous monster finally gave up on the small ship before it. Perhaps it calculated the risk of devouring its prey versus the potential damage to itself, but the mage doubted such intelligence from the monster, considering it a mere instinctive retreat. As Lynch gathered his magic power, the gray gelatin finally slowed down, gradually falling behind and disappearing from the sea's surface. Lynch switched to chain lightning, detonating a splash around the ship with it, dousing the flames on the hull.
"Is it truly over?" Knight Macken's arms were covered with red burns, yet he kept a grip on the life-saving rope for the overboard crew: "Will that monster come back?"
"I don't know; maybe getting out of here quickly is the only choice." Lynch looked at the dilapidated Nautilus, which just hours ago was a brightly lit banquet hall. He said, "Macken, I'll give you a hand, let's pull those people up quickly."
