Chapter 172 Ice Elemental [Part 2]
At the same time, Xavier had already dashed forward.
He faced the real threat, the ice elemental; he could go for the giant golem, but Xavier knew the Elemental was stronger than the golem.
When Xavier got closer, he saw the elemental floating above the frozen ground. The air around it froze solid as Xavier moved closer, sharp icicles forming in the air like blades.
The elemental raised its hand, and dozens of those ice spears shot out at once.
Xavier moved fast, his body blurring, deflecting some with his sword while dodging the rest. But the ice wasn't just sharp, it was filled with chilling magic.
Each one that hit the ground exploded, freezing the earth into jagged spikes meaning even if the ice touched his leg, that part of his leg would become frozen.
"Damn…" Xavier muttered as he came to a stop, smirking despite the danger.
He couldn't get close enough to the elemental without one of the icicles touching him.
The elemental roared, lifting both arms, and a massive storm of frost exploded outward.
The wind was freezing, and the rest of the icicles shot outward with the wind, tearing across the battlefield.
[Dark Mist]
Xavier braced himself as his mist burst out covering his entire body, but instead of standing in one spot waiting for it to be over, Xavier moved forward through the ice.
Xavier already had a feel for his sword, so he could now activate one of the sword's powers, which was the one he used to kill the Cerberus.
His sword began to glow as he charged through the storm, closing in, and once the frost wind was gone, his mist created a path in front of him, and before the ice elemental could make a move, Roman swung his sword.
[Crimson Slash]
Xavier wasn't close to the elemental, but his sword did the job, creating a slash out of blood, but he didn't get the elemental's body.
The moment Xavier swung his sword, the elemental moved out of the way almost instantly, but he was still able to slash the elemental's arm off.
But it didn't matter as the wound instantly healed. The ice reformed, even stronger and the elemental raised its hand again.
The elemental countered with a beam of pure frost, unlike the frost wind, this attack froze the air.
Xavier barely rolled aside, his cloak freezing at the edge. The ground where he stood moments ago turned into a solid wall of ice.
A smirk formed on his face, and his blood pumped faster. Every attack from the elemental could kill him, but he didn't stop. After facing a three-headed demon dog, this was nothing.
Star had defeated the golem as Xavier heard the loud sound from the golem's fall, and she was ready to rush over, her golden flames still burning bright. But Xavier raised a hand as he noticed her.
"Stay back. This one is mine," he said.
Star frowned as she was already planning to blast the elemental with her flames. She could kill it instantly this way, but Xavier wanted to.
The golden flames around her body began to fade, her body shrinking down, scales pulling back until she was human again.
She stood with her arms folded, watching, her chest rising and falling hard from the fight, her golden flames took a toll on her.
Xavier gripped his sword tighter and faced the ice elemental.
The ice elemental floated higher, its eyes locked on him. Xavier wasn't rushing towards the elemental; he was going to take his time and crush it.
It raised both hands, and the frozen floor cracked. Spikes of ice shot up from the ground ass around Xavier, sharp as blades, aiming straight for Xavier's legs.
Xavier leapt back the moment he sensed the spell, twisting in the air, his sword flashing as he cut two spikes aside as he landed, the spikes continued forward but Xavier didn't stop cutting them down and moving.
One of the spikes grazed his arm, the edge freezing part of his sleeve solid and he tore it off and landed on one knee, smirking.
"You'll have to do better than that," he muttered looking at the elemental.
Star and Mira were now at the edge of the dungeon watching Xavier.
The elemental answered with a shriek that shook the chamber. Its chest glowed, and from its mouth came a beam of frost so cold it turned the air to glass.
The beam tore forward, ripping through the dungeon like a cannon.
"Shit!!..." Xavier vanished with [Wind Stride], his form blurring as he dashed away, and reappeared to the left.
The beam hit the wall instead at the other side of the dungeon, freezing it solid.
The moment Xavier landed, the ground beneath him cracked. Ice chains burst upward, wrapping around his legs. The elemental snapped its fingers, and the chains tightened, frost biting into his skin.
Xavier gritted his teeth and with one hard swing, he shattered the chains, shards of ice flying out. But the elemental wasn't done.
It clapped its hands, and a blizzard storm erupted, winds howling, snow cutting across towards Xavier. The air was so cold he could feel it burning his lungs.
[Dark Mist]
The black mist wrapped around him again, shielding him from the worst of the storm and it died down the next moment.
The elemental raised one hand, creating a massive ice spear, larger than a tree, sharp enough to split stone. With a roar, it hurled the spear down.
Xavier didn't move; instead, he braced himself, holding his sword with both of his hands. The moment the spear was close to him, he unleashed another slash.
[Crimson Slash]
He swung hard, the crimson wave tearing through the air, cutting the giant spear in half. The shards rained down, exploding into frost as they hit the floor.
Xavier smiled as he had had enough. He was using all this time to test the elemental spells; he didn't want to rush in without proper planning, as he would have to get in close.
Xavier readied himself, but before he could dash forward, the elemental suddenly moved its hand, and the air in front of him shimmered.
An ice clone of himself appeared, his own figure holding a frozen sword.
