Love is Worth Waiting for

Chapter 19: End of Formalities

Sunny was beyond excited that his idea had worked. He had woven the enchantments into a manifested shadow so he could hold it together even when it was meant to break. This allowed him to weave enchantments that were utterly nonsensical and flawed that the spell could later interpret.

The [Manifestation] and [Bound] attributes had been a result of the spell interpreting the basic weave of a memory and him connecting the memory physically to his and Morgan's shadow. The rest were more complicated

[Cycle of Life and Death] and [Meaning of Life], or in his case [Meaning of Death], were originally one enchantment. They were woven using inspiration from the Crown of Twilight, but the spell seemed to have split it apart and altered it to fit with some of the other enchantments.

[Together in Death] was another change made by the spell, it was originally a loose copy of the enchantment from Undying Chain, but it seemed to have been altered to fit the concept of the rings.

[Part of a Whole] was a new addition by the spell, it added an enchantment where it saw gaps, sticking to the theme of the memory.

The core theme that the memory was based around was [Unbreakable Bond] which was probably the only enchantment the spell left untouched. It was used as a guideline to alter the other enchantments and to form a cohesive whole.

Sunny looked at his attributes once again, beside himself in joy.

Attributes: [Lord of Shadows], [Flame of Divinity], [Blood Weave], [Bone Weave], [Soul Weave], [Onyx Shell], [Fateless], [Hand in Divine Unity].

[Hand in Divine Unity] Attribute Description: [The broken Princess of War found The lonely and forgotten Prince of Shadows. Through their interactions the detached princess found herself, and in the blinding radiance that followed, exposed Shadow. Forced by circumstance, the prince offered his hand to the princess…]

Attribute Traits: [Bound], [Manifestation], [Cycle of Life and Death], [Unbreakable Bond], [Part of a Whole], [Together in Death], [Meaning of Death]

However, there was one thing that kept distracting him from the runes. 'My lips really hurt.' Even with [Onyx Shell], Morgan's flaw was nothing to scoff at. He felt his lips swelling, and forced them to retain their shape.

He was in pain but it quickly healed itself due to [Blood Weave]. 'I know for next time at least.' But then he was struck with a thought.

[Part of a Whole] made it so he and Morgan were treated as the same person in all mystical ways. This meant that he would be treated as her by her aspect, and would no longer be affected by her flaw.

'Oh phew, I don't want to experience that every time I touch her,' His eyes widened as he became aware of his thoughts. 'What do I mean next time?! There will be no next time! Although…'

He decided to simply stop thinking and focus on the event before him. Morgan had recovered before him which was surprising, and had already manifested the attribute as an obsidian ring that rested above her white gold one.

He followed suit and manifested the ring. It did nothing because most of the traits of the attribute were passively active without manifestation, but it was technically a wedding ring so he had to wear it.

Morgan had turned to face the saints she had brought and his avatars that had been placed around the room. "I would like to thank the Shadow Clan for this opportunity and the benefits this alliance will bring."

She nodded towards the Lord of Shadows. "I'm sure both of our clans will be rewarded greatly once the war is won." The Lord of Shadows stared at her before speaking.

"Valor's saints should be able to return on their own." Sunny wanted to get the saints out of his citadel so he wouldn't have to continue maintaining his incarnations.

Morgan simply smiled and walked off of the raised platform. "Let us see outside first and then we'll be out of your way."

Morgan was holding back the flood of emotions she was experiencing, delaying the breakdown for later in her own company.

She still couldn't bring herself to look Sunny in the eye. Every time she did it reminded her of the kiss and she barely held back the storm of emotions that came with the thought.

Still, she couldn't help her mind gravitating towards it again, specifically to a certain part of it. 'Is it just me or are his lips made of stone?' She remembered the feeling of a cold, hard surface resting against her lips instead of warm, soft skin.

'It must be one of his attributes and probably the reason he was able to do it in the first place.' Morgan distracted herself once again by thinking about his peculiar attribute.

It doesn't seem to be in effect all the time, only manifesting when something would otherwise cause him damage. She frowned slightly, 'That means every time I touch him he'd feel like stone.'

Then something akin to an epiphany hit her. She had the same revelation about the obsidian ring's [Part of a Whole] trait as Sunny did earlier. 'So I'll be able to kiss him properly next time.'

She only let the thought briefly cross her mind, but it sent her emotions spiraling, forcing her to suppress them for what felt like the millionth time that day.

She shifted her attention to the strategic location of the citadel, having made her way out while she was caught up in her thoughts.

The location of the citadel was hard to place, but there was no doubt of its strategic importance. Within the sphere of darkness surrounding the temple, the skies refused to open, creating an effective haven within the harrowing danger of Godgrave.

Granted, the lack of the annihilating sunlight made the nightmare creatures that lived within the shadow, many times more dangerous. However, the Lord of Shadows had taken it upon himself to purge the surroundings.

Morgan smiled brightly. 'How perfect. It seems this marriage was the best thing that could have happened to me.' She took one last look at the surroundings, before pulling on her anchor and returning to the waking world.
