Chapter 20: Storm of Emotions
The ceremony ended quickly. Morgan wasn't surprised by the Lord of Shadows' desire for them to leave quickly, they were there for the ceremony and not anything afterwards anyway. If she wanted to have more formalities afterwards, she would have hosted it in bastion.
Either way, the ceremony was more impactful than anything she could have thought up, the amount of secrets she became aware of were astounding too. The Lord of Shadows had referred to himself as the acting high priest. This revealed a lot of things.
First, he wasn't necessarily qualified for the position and was only acting in the stead of the real one. Second, there was some order tied to the Shadow Clan that required the existence of a high priest.
However, to Morgan right now, none of these things mattered. 'I have to go see him.' The need to see Sunny was the only thought on her mind.
She was shaken immensely, but she had to confirm some things before anything else. Morgan made her way over to the cafe, it was well beyond the closing time, but she didn't care.
Every extra second it took for her to get there was torturous, but she could wait. She had been waiting her entire life after all.
She made her way to the door and pushed it. It didn't move so she went to use her aspect on it, but it opened before she had the chance.
"Please refrain from breaking down my do-" Sunny didn't manage to finish speaking before she tackled him to the ground.
Sprawled out on the floor, Morgan's hair was messy and covered her face. There was no trace of her usual calm demeanor, which seemed to shock Sunny into inaction.
Morgan wasted no time, ripping off her gloves and throwing them across the room, she shakily placed her hands on his face.
Nothing happened. His face was perfectly intact and hadn't even turned to stone either. Morgan could feel Sunny's soft skin beneath her fingers and let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
An enormous wave of emotions crashed into her, she had connected the dots before, but only by touching him now did the realisation dawn on her. He wasn't affected by her flaw.
It was as she had finally shed the immense burden that she had been carrying for the past decade.
Morgan no longer had any pretenses to keep or emotions to hide, so she simply burst into tears. She buried her face in Sunny's chest and held onto him.
He was trying to say something but she didn't listen, she simply held onto him. Morgan held onto Sunny as if he would disappear if she ever let go.
Her expression wasn't pretty. She was crying, but a jagged and ugly smile, that was somehow more genuine than any other she had made before, was plastered on her face.
Sunny's shouts finally became loud enough to hear over the sound of her sobs and through the haze clouding her mind.
"Morgan! Stop! You're destroying my clothes!" She loosened her grip slightly and he managed to pull her off of him. He immediately jumped back as she tried to grab him again.
She looked up at him with a betrayed expression on her face, but soon realised what she had done.
Sunny had already dismissed the memory that concealed his presence to prevent it from being destroyed, but his shirt wasn't as lucky.
It was cut in thousands of places, barely hanging onto his body and no longer fit for acting as a proper shirt anymore. Sunny took off what remained of his shirt and Morgan stared intensely.
She hadn't expected him to have so much muscle hidden in his thin frame. His chest was defined, and the muscles were drawn taught. There was an inhuman level of strength that was somehow contained in a small amount of muscle.
He looked like a statue that was painstakingly carved out as a sculptor's masterpiece. However there was also a detailed tattoo of an obsidian serpent that coiled around his chest and up his arm.
'Is that the mark of the Shadow Clan?' She briefly noted before her mind was taken over by other thoughts. Her breathing became more heated and a red tint found its way onto her cheeks.

'What's happening?! Why is she like this?!' Before Sunny could take in the situation, Morgan pounced on him, bringing him to the floor once again. He had tried to sidestep, but her speed had caught him unprepared.
Morgan pinned him to the ground and before he could speak, pushed her lips onto his.
The cafe grew silent. It was only a few minutes later that Sunny could be heard gasping for air.
A saint's ability to hold their breath was far beyond that of an ordinary human. Sunny himself could fight underwater for upwards of an hour before having to catch his breath. Morgan, however, had somehow forced him to gasp for breath much earlier.
He desperately tried to take air into his system, but Morgan didn't allow him more than a second. The cafe was soon silent once again.
After many more minutes, Sunny was simply unable to function anymore without air. As a last ditch effort, he augmented himself with his shadow and attempted to push Morgan off of him.
She managed to hang onto him despite his best efforts, but after a long struggle, Sunny pushed Morgan away.
'How is she so strong?!' It didn't make any sense to Sunny.
He had six soul cores that greatly increased his strength, in addition to the augmentation from a shadow which doubled his already colossal might. Morgan was clearly using either her aspect or some sort of charm to be able to pin him down.
Sunny was still panting from their encounter, his breath hot and his face completely red. He felt embarrassed and humiliated, but those emotions left him as he saw Morgan's sorry state.
He caught his breath and finally spoke in a calm tone, 'Are you ready to talk?'
