Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 386: Trace_3

"The killer should be the third person near the scene."

Luke continued, "Only the blood of the deceased was found at the scene, and no trace of the caught female suspect's blood was found, meaning that the killer did not harm her.

From this point, the killer was not worried about the female suspect betraying him.

I suspect the two must know each other, perhaps even have a close and trusting relationship.

If they were unrelated, the killer wouldn't leave a witness since he's bold enough to kill a police officer.

So, the most important clue now is to find the two suspects in the red Honda car, find them, and we can track down the murderer of the officer."

Reid instructed, "Marcus, send the female suspect's photo to the technical department, have them use facial recognition to quickly determine the female suspect's identity."

"Yes, Chief."

Reid looked at Luke again, "So, you also think this is a premeditated murder case?"

Luke thought for a moment, "There is no relevant evidence at the moment.

What I'm most worried about now is the perpetrator's motive, will he continue to kill police officers?

We must guard against this."

"You're right." Reid's expression turned serious; he exchanged a few words with Luke and then quickly left the office.

If Luke's guess is correct and the killer might continue committing crimes, then all the officers in Los Angeles would be in danger.

This is a challenge to the entire LAPD.

No, a declaration of war!

Reid had to take it seriously, issue an early warning, and at the very least, make every officer vigilant to prevent another officer from being shot.

If it really is a series of murders targeting police officers, then that would be a huge problem.

"Ring ring..." Luke's phone rang.

"Hello."

Jenny's voice came through the phone, "Captain, I've been keeping an eye on Timo Jensen, and there's something going on here.

It's likely a lead in the case."

"Where?"

...

Hector Community.

A black Ford Explorer entered the community, with Luke sitting in the passenger seat.

After driving a bit further, Luke spotted Jenny and Raymond's car. Luke rolled down the window and murmured a few words to them.

Not far from the gray-roofed house, several patrol cars were parked. According to Jenny, that should be the suspect's residence, and to avoid being noticed by the patrol officers, they had been hiding in the car.

Luke and Jackson got out of the car, but instead of directly checking out the gray-roofed house, they went to the neighbors next door.

At this time, many community residents were watching the scene, and Luke said to a Mexican lady, "Ma'am, the peppers in your yard are growing well."

The Mexican lady smiled, "That's thanks to the Los Angeles sunshine.

They not only grow well but are also delicious; all the neighbors love them."

"I envy your neighbors." Luke flattered, then changed the subject, "Do you know the family next door?"

"I do." The lady asked back, "What do you do?"

Luke showed his badge, "LAPD.

Can you tell me about the people in that house?"

"A couple in their twenties. They also love my peppers. Did something happen?"

"We're investigating a criminal case, and they are involved." Luke left it at that and asked, "Do you know their names?"

"I only know the woman's name, Salma Gonzalez."

Luke took out a photo of the female suspect from the red Honda car, "Is this her?"

The lady looked closely, "Yes, that's her.

Poor thing, I've long said she should stay away from that man."

"Who are you referring to?"

"Who else? Her boyfriend."

"Do they have a red Honda car?"

"Yes, I've seen that car parked in the yard, but I don't know if it's theirs."

"Thank you, ma'am, the information you've provided is very important." Luke left a business card and walked towards Salma Gonzalez's house next door.

As Luke reached the door, he was stopped by a Black patrol officer, "Hey, we're handling a case here; who are you?"

Luke showed his badge, "I'm the captain of the Robbery and Murder Department's first squad. Get your person in charge over here."

"Yes, sir!" The Black patrol officer's expression changed slightly, and he jogged into the house, and when he came back out, a white man in his forties followed behind him.

The white man reached out his right hand from a distance, "Captain Lee, I've heard a lot about you.

I'm Henry Joseph, a sergeant from the Southern District's patrol department."

Luke asked, "Is the deceased Jens Hauley under your command?"

"Yes, he was a well-respected officer and one of my most relied-upon subordinates... it's unfortunate." Sergeant Henry finished and asked tentatively, "Captain Lee, why are you here?"

Luke said, "I'm investigating Jens Hauley's murder case and happened to track down this address.

How did you guys end up here?"
