Making a Personal Decision Part 1
64
Feliciana saw her leader return after speaking with the mission headquarters. She hoped from the bottom of her heart that the leader, just as John said, would make the best possible decision.
She knew that for someone to be designated as the leader of an association's urination, this person could not be ordinary, the association was very strict in this regard, it was not just a matter of level, she thought.
There were a multitude of high and low classes and levels within the association, but for someone to occupy a position that manages the lives of their companions and civilians, this person must be endowed with impeccable skills.
Knowing this, Feliciana was not bothered when she learned that her leader was someone inexperienced, of course the device on the leader's wrist was still a source of concern, but she believed that there was a good explanation for it, otherwise the above command would not designate him as a leader.
The association recruited some criminals to work and atone for their sins under its banner, but typically these hunters would be heavily guarded by a responsible agent and raid low-level dungeons or fill personnel shortages in a specific area.
"I contacted headquarters, Felix said there is a probability of there being someone with three stars here"
The leader's words hit Feliciana and John at the same time, they felt their faces draining of blood, she clutched the staff tightly to her chest looking at the leader and listening carefully to his next words.
"As you suggested, the ideal would be to retreat and wait for a high-level agent to come and deal with the situation."
Hearing such words Feliciana sighed internally, she knew that the enemies were coming towards her at this very moment, her spells had been alerted, but luckily for them, the enemies did not know her position.
Retreating now while they had the advantage would be the right thing to do, as the three-star hunter only just noticed her, a one-star hunter, most likely he didn't slang her personally.
Feliciana assumed and hoped that the three-star hunter had underestimated them and only sent low-level hunters after them, with John and their leader, retreating now wouldn't be a problem.
Unfortunately for Feliciana, nothing in the world went as she expected, the world always invented something to put her in a situation that her efforts would not be enough for her to deal with.
"But I'm not going to do that," the inexperienced leader said, much to John and Feliciana's shock.
"What ? Why not?"
The words escaped, she just thought but unintentionally gave voice to her thoughts, the leader looked at her making Feliciana shrink a little, but she still stood her ground.
"Alex, are you serious? Do you really want to risk facing a three-star? I know you're a genius, but you're not the sword saint who can handle a three-star, and neither are we."
John spoke looking at the leader with a sharp gaze, Feliciana was envious, she wished she had such courage to voice her thoughts without caring what other people would think.
"I understand what you mean, but allow me to be honest about one point," the leader said, exuding a majesty that made Feliciana and John listen to him without complaint.
"I understand that you are scared and retreating is really the best thing to do, I know that very well" the two paid attention to the leader's words that carried not only majesty but were also charged with emotions.
"For me, this is not just an association mission that I have to fulfill, but something personal."
Hearing this point, Feliciana's mind spun, she wondered if the leader was someone who devoted himself to a mission body and soul.
"My sister is one of the girls who was kidnapped and is possibly here, I can't afford to back down, even if it's dangerous I will do everything I can to save each of the girls here."
Feliciana almost choked upon hearing this statement, and there was more because the leader continued after a brief pause.
" Just like me, John, you are a two-star agent. I will hand over mission command to you. You can stand back and wait for a three-star agent to be initiated. I do not intend to risk your lives in exchange for something personal."
The Leader's words made Feliciana shiver, they weren't mere words, she could feel it, although she couldn't explain it at the moment, she looked at John to see what the answer would be.
Feliciana tried to put herself in John's shoes to see what decision she would make, would she retreat to save her life or would she follow the leader on a suicide mission?
She didn't have enough time to make a decision before John congratulated her.
"You are the leader here, if you have already made a decision then that is what we will follow, whether personal or not, we will follow it"
Feliciana looked at John's beautiful, comforting smile and wondered if she had heard correctly, the leader then looked at her.
"Let's move on, maybe there won't be anyone with three stars at the end of the day, maybe we're just being alarmists"
It's not what she meant, she definitely didn't mean it, but the fear that maybe she was wrong made her say these words.
"Are you sure? We don't have much time left, they got here at some point, it could very well be late in the next few seconds." The leader looked at him inquisitively.
Feliciana really wanted to know where John and his leader have the courage to risk their lives, the leader was explainable since his sister was kidnapped, but John because he is allying in something suicidal like facing someone with three stars.
Feliciana resented herself for not being able to voice her thoughts; in fact, what bothered her most was not knowing what was really the right thing to do.
"Don't worry, we're hunting agents," John said, looking around. Feliciana didn't say anything, she just waited for what would happen next.
"My concealment spell has expired, now we can be seen on security cameras and if someone has very high perception attributes we might be noticed," Feliciana said apprehensively.
