Chapter 568: Begin Arrests, Snipers
Two days later, at 8:30 AM, Western Federal Nevada, a few kilometers south of Wellington City.
On the rooftop of an uninhabited villa, Reesi was holding a pair of binoculars, looking at another villa in the distance, complaining:
"I think I see a military base."
At the end of the binoculars' view was a villa structurally similar to the one beneath Reesi's feet.
However, this villa was luxuriously decorated, with lush vegetation, and black men patrolling the corridors, lawns, gates, and rooftops everywhere.
There was a large number of black guards, but their exact number was unclear because they each had their own patrol areas.
But within less than three minutes of observing, Reesi had already seen more than a dozen different faces.
"The number has been found out."
Not long after Reesi's complaint, Chenier, dressed in a suit and disguised as a female salesperson with glasses, came over with a bag of food and said:
"I investigated the daily food supply for that villa, and there are about 30 people."
"Fu*k!"
Reesi cursed softly, put down the binoculars, walked down from the rooftop, and looking at Luo An and Michelle, who were sitting in front of a computer studying something, said:
"About thirty black mercenaries, wearing bulletproof vests and carrying submachine guns… Is Hamid Hogan that afraid of death? Should we contact the military?"
In the villa beneath Reesi's feet, besides the five members of Team 13, there were just two SWAT teams totaling 10 people.
15 against 30, even a child knows the odds are not good, especially since the equipment of those black men wasn't inferior to theirs.
"I've already called for reinforcements, three SWAT teams totaling 30 people are on their way."
Luo An waved his hand to interrupt Reesi's suggestion and added:
"Moreover, it's probably not that Hamid Hogan is afraid of death, but rather that he has been put under house arrest."
"House arrest?"
Reesi and Chenier were slightly startled:
"What's going on?"
Michelle turned the computer around to show the two women, explaining:
"Previously when Luo An had Reesi apply for search and arrest warrants, I found out that since the day Councilman Shemor and President Lucille disappeared, Hamid Hogan started to liquidate assets and raise money by various means."
Luo An added:
"Spending 300 million dollars on a piece of wasteland would indeed cause financial tension, but he could still manage it for a while.
However, within just a few days, Hamid Hogan sold villas, luxury cars, stocks, bonds, and even took out high-interest loans.
All these actions point to one issue, the owner of the 300 million dollars is not him."
Reesi suddenly nodded:
"300 million dollars is not a small amount, it's normal for the real owner behind it to be very upset and imprison Hamid Hogan."
Chenier thought for a moment and added:
"I also found out something else just now.
The managers responsible for delivering food to that villa said they couldn't understand the language spoken by those black men there, it wasn't English."
Reesi frowned and guessed:
"Not English? Could it be French?"
"Not French either, *#%¥*..."
Chenier mentioned a few difficult words, shaking her head:
"These are the words that the managers noted down. I have studied some French, and these words are not pronounced in French."
"*#%¥*..."
Luo An repeated Chenier's words, frowning and pondering for a few seconds, then said:
"It seems like it's one of the languages from the Niger-Congo Language Family."
Hearing this, Michelle and Chenier looked at Luo An in surprise, and Reesi incredulously asked:
"You know African languages?"
"Not really, just have some understanding."
Luo An shook his head; previously, he had memorized and learned some languages from Caroline, who knew the languages of the East and had also studied the Niger-Congo Language Family, one of the world's largest language families, and Luo An had heard about it from her.
"Cool."
Reesi showed admiration on her face towards Luo An, giving him a thumbs up, then guessed:
"So, the mastermind behind imprisoning Hamid Hogan, the real owner of the 300 million dollars, is a rich person from Africa?"
"Africa doesn't have many wealthy people, but there are plenty of various warlords."
Luo An casually replied, and just then, Winslow climbed up from the staircase and said sternly:
"Team leader, the support has arrived."
"Good."
Luo An nodded in satisfaction and commanded:
"Michelle, stay at the villa, contact Customs and Border Protection Bureau, investigate the identities of those black mercenaries.
Reesi, Michelle, Winslow, grab your weapons and gear up, get ready for action!"
"Understood!"x4
————
Half an hour later, four troop carriers slowly parked on the distant highway, surrounding the target villa from four sides.
"Sniper, halt operation."
Inside a villa used as a temporary stronghold, Luo An and others were studying the layout of the target villa when suddenly a voice from a SWAT team member came through the earpiece communicator:
"There's a vantage point in the target villa, possibly harboring an enemy sniper, I can't reach the designated position."
"Sniper?!"
Hearing this word, everyone's expressions changed in the temporary stronghold, they observed the layout of the target villa for a few seconds, a SWAT captain's expression suddenly turned cold:
"The rooftop at the upper right corner of the target villa, very suitable for a sniper to hide, that position has a broad view, as long as the enemy stays there, our later attack will be very difficult."
Reesi's expression changed slightly, understanding the implication of those words, and asked with a frown:
"Is there a suitable location nearby to take out that sniper?"
The SWAT captain's face looked grim:
"There is a location, but our sniper reaching that position would be visible to the enemy sniper, and it would come down to who reacts faster, only one would survive."
This kind of one-for-one tactic made everyone's faces extremely grim, Reesi, Winslow, and others had no good solutions, they ultimately turned their gaze to Luo An.
"I'll handle it."
Looking at the layout on the map, Luo An pondered for a few seconds, without any chitchat, he directly said:
"You guys at the front will feign an attack to attract attention, I will circle around and take out the sniper."
"What?"
"But..."
Hearing this, several of the SWAT on the scene immediately looked astonished; Winslow, Reesi, and others' faces changed dramatically and instinctively wanted to object, but were suppressed by Luo An.
Wearing a bulletproof vest, grabbing a sniper rifle and handgun, equipping a dagger, smoke grenade, and stun grenade, Luo An commanded in a stern voice:
"Begin the operation!"
"Understood!"xN
Everyone at the scene, whether in disbelief or with faces full of tension, still responded loudly, Luo An picked up his weapons and quickly dashed out.
Receiving clear orders, a group of SWAT team members immediately grabbed the blast shields, ran off the vehicles, and rushed towards the target villa from all around.
Seeing this, a series of loud shouts resonated within the villa, and a group of black mercenaries grabbed their weapons, moved to predetermined positions, and fired bullets.
Bang bang bang—
Bang! Bang! Bang!
For a moment, the sounds of gunfire, shouting, and crossfire echoed through the entire area.
At the same time, in a corner behind the villa, Luo An silently laid down the body of a black mercenary.
Looking up towards the attic top of the villa, wiping off a few drops of water left from a medicine he had just drunk at the corner of his mouth, Luo An smiled faintly, like a ghost not drawing any attention, successfully infiltrated the villa.
Bang! Bang!
On the top of the villa attic, a completely dark-skinned sniper, only his eyes and teeth visible, fired two shots, both missing the intended target, immediately grimaced in annoyance and muttered a few African curses under his breath.
Because they were ordered to feign attack temporarily, and knew there was a sniper, while shooting, the SWAT team members were also very cautious about their own protection.
"#¥%*!"
With yet another shot missing, the black sniper got even more irascible:
"These damned fellows..."
After reloading a new bullet, just as the black sniper was about to shoot again, he suddenly felt a gust of cold wind on the back of his neck.
The black sniper's hair stood on end, his pupils contracted, just as he was about to stand up, a greeting suddenly rang in his ear:
"Hello, Mr. Sniper."
