Chapter 567: The Owner of the Watch, The Possible Truth
Las Vegas FBI Branch, borrowed office.
In front of the desk, Michelle points to the red and black webpage on the computer and says:
"Luo An, I just found out that the employer who hired Issoff-Jason to kidnap the female reporter Igilia is the same guy who hired Etwan to go to your villa in Washington D.C. to look for the cross."
"The same person?"
Michelle nods and then taps a few keys on the keyboard, bringing up another post, adding:
"Moreover, this employer is also the same person who used this underground crime website to post a job to kidnap the male model Paul Becker."
Winslow grins beside her:
"Feels like this underground crime website is really a gold mine."
Luo An thinks for a moment, and asks:
"Can you find out the identity of this spending employer on this site?"
"Sorry, I can't."
Michelle spreads her hands, indicating her own average abilities; Mona might be more certain.
"Then let's take a look at this interrogation record."
Luo An's expression unchanged, he takes the information obtained from the recent interrogation of Issoff-Jason from Chenier and says:
"Issoff-Jason stated that after he successfully kidnapped the female reporter Igilia that day, he brought her to the vicinity of a highway northwest of Las Vegas according to the employer's request.
On that highway, Issoff-Jason saw a black car.
A man came out of the car wearing a mask and took the female reporter Igilia to his black sedan.
Apart from the masked man, there was another man sitting in the back of the car, whom Issoff-Jason did not see clearly, only noticing a watch worth 400,000 US Dollars on his hand."
"A watch worth 400,000 US Dollars?"
Upon hearing this number, Reesi's eyes widen in astonishment, and Michelle is also somewhat incredulous:
"Issoff-Jason didn't see it wrong?"
"He wasn't dazed at the time, his vision and memory were fine, he probably didn't see it wrong.
Moreover, this employer frequently places orders on the crime website and doesn't seem to be lacking money."
Luo An hands Michelle the location of that highway, saying:
"So, next we're going to investigate whether there were any suspicious vehicles or individuals on that road the night of the incident."
"OK!"
"No problem!"
Everyone nods in agreement and returns to their seats to check the surveillance footage of the nearby area.
Before long, Chenier made a discovery:
"Everyone! I found that car!"
"Nicely done!"
All immediately shuffle their chairs closer to Chenier, who brings up a segment of surveillance footage on the computer room's screen, explaining:
"This is from the surveillance camera outside a gas station near that highway.
Shortly after the trade mentioned by Issoff-Jason ended, this black car appeared in the surveillance."
Looking at the flash of the black sedan in the corner of the surveillance video, Luo An asks:
"Can we find out who owns the car?"
"This is a car registered under a certain real estate company."
Before Chenier could answer, Michelle is already a step ahead in pulling up the background of the car.
Soon, a photo of a white male with golden short hair, a high nose bridge, deep eye sockets, and a distinct mixed-race appearance appears on her computer:
"Hamid Hogan, 46 years old this year, the behind-the-scenes boss of that real estate company, and also..."
Michelle quickly types a few keystrokes and plays a video for everyone to see:
"This is from an interview with Hamid Hogan by a media outlet 8 months ago."
In the video, Hamid Hogan sits in a suit in a chair, calmly and smilingly engaging with the host, who is asking questions, and zealously advocates the view that federal housing prices will not decrease but only increase over the next ten years.
During his talk, Hamid Hogan occasionally shakes and moves his hands.
In these gestures, the golden watch on his left wrist is particularly conspicuous.
"Wow."
Reesi's eyes lit up as she said:
"Although I don't recognize this watch, I can tell at a glance that it's definitely very valuable."
"You're right."
Beside her, Chenier tapped a few keys, and quickly brought up information on the watch:
"A Casio commemorative model, priced at $499,990 US Dollars, with only 28 pieces worldwide."
Everyone present fell silent for a moment. Winslow, looking at the nearly one hundred million in assets on Hamid Hogan's computer screen, asked with some confusion:
"So, what is the conflict between this Hamid Hogan and Councilman Shemor and President Lucille?
Not only did he kill both of them and their bodyguards, but before that, he also had people kidnap the female reporter Igilia, who had had relations with them, and the male model Paul Becker?"
Michelle, Reesi, and Chenier furrowed their brows, unable to understand the reason behind Hamid Hogan's actions.
Luo An picked up a folder from his desk and said with a smile:
"Ladies and gentlemen, this could be the reason."
Everyone turned their heads to look at Luo An, who didn't keep them in suspense. He opened the file and distributed the papers inside to everyone, explaining:
"Do you remember I mentioned before that I found some connection between Councilman Shemor and President Lucille, besides being siblings, in another respect?
This connection is that one is a politician and the other is a business person."
Reesi and Winslow didn't quite understand what Luo An meant, but Chenier and Michelle were suddenly energized, thinking of something:
"Luo An, are you saying..."
"Correct, it's collusion."
Luo An nodded, using that not-so-nice word, and continued to explain:
"I found out before that Councilman Shemor has a good reputation in Nevada, because he has built many affordable houses for the lower-class citizens, as well as accommodations and food for the homeless.
But besides that, Councilman Shemor also proposed the construction of many high-end residential buildings, parks, entertainment venues, and other facilities.
Before the information was spread out, even before the facilities were built and when the land was still barren, that piece of land would always be bought by companies under President Lucille's name. Quite a coincidence, isn't it?"
Winslow and Reesi suddenly understood and nodded in realization, understanding the situation described by Luo An:
The brother decides on the area to be developed, the sister buys the land in advance, and when the news is announced, the land price doubles, making money easily.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I have also figured out the reason for Hamid Hogan's murders."
Beside them, Michelle tapped a few keys, and explained:
"FBI internal database shows that four months ago, Hamid Hogan spent three hundred million in funds to purchase a piece of land on the outskirts of a city in Nevada from a company.
Insider information pointed out that the Nevada government planned to develop that area into a new commercial and tourism zone.
A month ago, the location of the development zone was announced, but it turned out to be in another city, in a different area.
Hamid Hogan put in a lot of effort to buy the land, but the money spent was all in vain."
"Tsks tsk tsk..."
Winslow and Chenier shook their heads repeatedly, and Reesi said with contemptuous laughter:
"The development zone that was announced, was it once again bought by a company under Lucille in advance?"
"Not only that."
Michelle typed a few keys and added:
"The FBI internal database shows that the useless piece of land Hamid Hogan spent three hundred million on, was actually owned by a company whose real backer was also Lucille Krista."
After looking at the information in the computer, Reesi's face was filled with sardonic smiles:
"Selling off a piece of land that is actually useless to Hamid Hogan, making him take the fall.
Then using the money scammed from him to buy the correct land to be developed, sitting back and waiting for the land value to appreciate.
Lucille Krista, this woman is really ruthless, making a double gain."
"Otherwise, how could she have tangled with Rekasha O'Dell for such a long time."
Luo An smiled. Before Lucille Krista's death, she and Rekasha had caused chaos in the entire state of Nevada, even nearby California, Arizona, and other commercial industries.
The story behind it belonged to the dog-eat-dog world, but people still had to be caught. Luo An patted Reesi's shoulder:
"Go apply for a search and arrest warrant."
"Wait a minute!"
Just as Reesi was about to get up, Michelle stopped her first and handed the computer to Luo An, saying with seriousness:
"Before we act, I think this information is more important."
