Law of Tragedy

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Min breathed a sigh of relief at the unexpected help but contrary to what she hoped, a swarm of them shot out and she let out a scream then fell to the floor shaking in tears as they converged on her.

Feng tossed the sniper and picked up an automatic rifle. She jumped down and went closer to her then fired head shots calmly at the horde creating a wall of them. When the case finished, she tossed it away then she reloaded and fired again in a split second while she bit her lip on worry at what her crazy brother is doing.

Zhi Hua was hiding under the table looking at the space above the police officer as if urging with his eyes that the creator make sure, they both got out safe. Occasionally there would be someone knocking against the door or being slammed into it but the people inside remained quiet. Eventually it seems like the noise reduced, Zhi Hua thought they might have gone outside and it's only a few left. He crawled out and quietly stood up to stretch them went to the glass at the door to check.

He found blood, body parts and bullets. He tapped the police officer and motioned him to follow quietly. He heard the other person follow too but ignored him and then opened the door while holding the gun, they quietly walked down the corridor tensely until they saw one of the door's pushed open. Zhi Hua was already shooting but his finger magically couldn't press the trigger, he was surprised but understood the reason when he saw the scientist covered in blood stumbling out.

"How did you get here" the police officer asked

"I was called in here after pestering for a long time. It was my first time so I was nervous so I wanted to hide in here and calm down first" he said sheepishly.

Zhi Hua thought about it and yet he still found that explanation sketchy. Why would you hide for 30 minutes at the least just because you're nervous. Zhi Hua realized that protagonist halo is real and it's considerably mighty.

They became a group of four and proceeded outside taking care of any wandering zombie along the way. The situation turned grim when they realized that the outside was in a more dangerous situation with zombies roaming about attacking people but they could see the mechanic and highschooler helping Min fight back. Zhi Hua looked around for blonde hair and saw it on the roof of a building close to them so he sent her a wink.

Feng began to feel tired, she was stronger than other people but at the end of the day she was still in the category of a human so therefore she has limits which she was approaching. She noticed something else coming out the door after a while and positioned the gun to shoot, looking through the glass on the gun revealed her brother winking at her. Feng was surprised then relieved then gagged at him winking at her then finally pouting that her brother was an idiot.

Suddenly, the zombies cleared up faster or maybe it was due to the help of the police officer and the little kid but Zhi Hua knew why. Zhi Hua chuckled thinking that the little girl was just too worried and decided to show her real ability now that he's safe. He made his way to the woman in the floor and helped her up.

"Sister Min it must have been hard but don't worry, I'm here now so leave it to me" Zhi Hua said in a gentle tone squeezing her hands and looking her in the eyes. Min was in tears and hugged him tightly while he rubbed her back. He gave the others who were looking at him a shy expression of two lovers being caught while Min was even more exaggerated with her whole face turning red.

Zhi Hua was about to speak again when someone slammed head first into his stomach. Zhi Hua might have looked like it was nothing but he was actually tired and hurting due to lack of food and zombie killing so he fell down hard with no resistance.

"Brother are you okay" Feng said concerned but he can see her expression up close and she was smirking. Zhi Hua retaliated by pulling her cheeks until she scurried off him rubbing her face grumbling.

"You should be more careful" Min said helping Zhi Hua up while she just snorted

"It's only sister Min that cares about me unlike this ungrateful brat" Zhi Hua said not forgetting to get points in.

"What's going on here" the leader of the civilian said walking up to us. Feng pulled my sleeve and I examined this player, he seems to want to take credit for something.

"I just got here and saw my friend here taking the zombies alone head on and now you come here trying to question us. What if she got hurt or died trying to protect you then what would you say" Zhi Hua said in a furious tone, he resolved to steal all the momentum in it so that he wouldn't have any room to object.

"I wasn't...." He started

"I guess you weren't trying to but your tone gave off that vibe. If she risked her life for people like this then maybe it wasn't worth it" Zhi Hua said emphasizing the 'weren't' and 'wasn't'.

"You little.."

"I didn't see you being this aggressive when the zombies attacked so why are you angry at me. It must be because I'm telling the truth and that's why you're so offended" Zhi Hua said shaking his head. The player had enough but he was stopped by the police officer.

"The person we should be really angry with is the general. I caught him in the act and these two can serve as my witnesses that the general was the cause of all this" the police officer said.

"That's right, I was called by the general today to continue his experiment on zombies when the zombies were suddenly released" the scientist said

"I don't know about the zombies but we have here a soldier that turned against the general" Zhi Hua said pointing at the soldier that had been following behind them since. He winked at him

"Yes that's right, it was all the general's idea" the soldier really had no tears to cry left to shed angrily for this little brat. He was sure that he was hinting about something with the zombies since it was only two of them that knew the truth so he hurriedly went along with him.

"Min is a hero who fought to save us all while we desperately looked for evidence about the mastermind. We wouldn't have made it if she didn't distract the zombies to allow us escape"Zhi Hua ended it giving appreciation to both sides.

Suddenly some people randomly looked at the sky. Zhi Hua already guessed that the main storyline should be over now. They had revealed the culprit with evidence while Min heroically saved the day.

"Look, brother Ji I'm first" Min said hugging him then pointing at the air.

"I'm second" the soldier said surprised

"Feng can you see the screen" Zhi Hua whispered and she nodded then he told her to tell him the name of the soldier.

"We can finally go home" Min said smiling. Zhi Hua realized the others were seemingly distracted and the characters in the storyline were frozen with only the players active.

"But I don't seem to see your name on the list" Min said confused as the place she stood began to light up. Zhi Hua looked at her calmly and thought about whether he should do it or not.

At the end of the day;

"Sister Min is grateful for what I did right. I basically carried you so you can do anything to show your appreciation right" Zhi Hua said bringing out the gun tucked in his pants

"Of course, I'll do anything" Min said a blush coating her cheeks as she remembered the many times he took care of her and how she realized she liked him more than she thought.

It's best the ride back has no extra baggage.

"Then please die for me too" Zhi Hua said raising the gun to put a bullet in her head.

Min was just thinking about how she would tell her parents that she wasn't a failure unlike her big brother when she felt her vision go dark. She never even realized how she died or that she was betrayed.

Now I've made us true accomplices, Zhi Hua thought smiling at the police officer.
