Chapter 10: Chapter 10
The police officer as expected appeared infront of him in a ghastly expression
"What did you just do"he said glaring at Zhi Hua
"I just think that being accomplices in murder makes us closer" Zhi Hua said innocently
"What if I leave you to die"
"Obviously I would be questioned before I do and then I would be forced to reveal our close relationship"
"Why did you even have to kill her. She was already on your side and it would just add more to your troubles" he said.
" She would have realized something was wrong eventually and I don't trust her to expose myself besides I have someone I can leech off of" Zhi Hua said the last part winking at the shocked soldier.
"I might send you out but you're on your own at the other end" he said waving his hand.
Zhi Hua could already feel his body becoming weightless when suddenly the phone he had with him since he woke up came on. He removed it from his pocket in time to see the only app on it coming on then then a black mist burst out of the screen and made a circle on the ground. It seemed to dissipate at first but then as time grew it began to form a stable circle.
"How could you have 'that' knowledge" the police officer said with his face growing pale. Zhi Hua himself was confused about all this but he got one thing and that was, this phone contains knowledge that wasn't meant to exist but he was still on his way to the other side so he doesn't care.
Feng was lost in thought. She also realized that there was something fundamentally wrong with that mist but she felt close to it like there was something about that wrongness that she could relate to but that would mean that she's not meant to exist so why doesn't she have negative effects too.
Suddenly the air became heavy and a choking sensation spread among everyone. It started with a line in the sky then it split open slowly in the process of forming an eyeball.
Feng felt such a strong emotion of repulsion that she had to be on her knees wanting to vomit. There was also fear too, a fear so deep that she and that covered most of the scope of her emotions but the most part was that she never wants to be involved with whatever the eyeball in the sky is.
Zhi Hua had it considerably worse. The eye in the sky seemed to be clashing with the mist and he's a conduit of it so the pressure is also hitting him more than the others. Zhi Hua feels like he might die very soon because he can hear his bones grinding and he started to cough out blood with both his hands and knees on the floor.
"I might really die if you keep this up"he said to the mist.
It seems to have heard him because the circle became stable and the mist swallowed up the two just as the eyeball fully opened and the iris looked wildly around before closing back and fading away.
...............
It seems like he escaped and he made sure to cover his tracks. How long has it been since I found something fun to do, something that could escape from my grasp. It turns out being in control gets boring after a while but no matter, after all you have returned and you became even more fun. Isn't that right, Zhi Hua.
The man with golden hair and eyes began to smile as he thought this.
................
Zhi Hua woke up again in a fright. Honestly it really isn't easy to get used to a giant eyeball in the sky especially when it was the same one that almost killed you 4 years ago. He took a shower then went to eat breakfast which was made by Feng after learning from the aunty downstairs.
"Brother, have you seen my shoes" Feng said coming into the kitchen wearing her chef's uniform
"Under your bed" I said raising an eyebrow and she went back into the next room to check coming back with shoes this time.
"I'm off to the restaurant. If you keep delaying then you will get fired again" she said tapping her feet at me.
"I've known you for just 4 years+ and you think you found all my tricks eh" I said washing my plates then I ruffled her hair messing up the bun it was in.
"I don't think, I know" she pouted swatting my hand away and repacking her hair
"Tsk, keep up this arrogant attitude and you might never have a boyfriend" Zhi Hua said while she just showed a disgusted face at him.
"You two can fight all day if I don't send you away. Jeez if you weren't siblings you'd be married" Aunty Chen said coming in to shoo Feng away.
"Bye aunty, bye brother" Feng said waving as she walked away.
"Such a talented kid, working as a chef in those big restaurants. Life really isn't fair" Aunty Chen said shaking her head. Zhi Hua told her that they were abandoned by their orphanage and have no money or place to go to because they were robbed of the only money they had. He honestly felt bad for deceiving such a kind old woman but he had no other way to explain his grevious injuries to her. Anyway they had been living here since.
Zhi Hua walked to the convenience store that he had the day shift in. He would have liked to work somewhere that doesn't give 10 bucks an hour pay but his face scared the customers into him being fired, jeez like it's his fault he looks like a serial killer. So the only choice left was here. He doesn't need to care that much about money because Feng is making a substantial amount of money with her job and they already paid their debts to Aunty Chen and her husband for rent and the hospital bill so now they have a place to live, food to eat and enough money to spend moderately.
Honestly he wouldn't mind staying here but there are four problems with that; first of all he has to find his memories, Second of all is the huge eyeball in the sky that is constantly observing this world and staying under it for too long makes his body hurt and Third of all is the piece of shit mist. Zhi Hua still remembered how he was one step away from death and then he was ruthlessly tossed to this place left to fend for himself. It was Feng that dragged my battered and bruised body to a dumpster then knocked on doors to look for help before I was spotted by Aunty Chen.
The last problem is the fact that there are no concepts of novels in this world. There are books like history and learning books but the concept of novels don't exist. Zhi Hua doesn't read those types anyway, he can just watch television or something. The problem is that there is no concept of magic either. By that I mean the word 'magic' doesn't exist so no anime, light novel, manga, manwha, Nothing.
Infact these people lack any form of creativity. The books on machine they have were all copied from the worlds they went to. Their history had no progression as if they just sprouted one day and randomly imitated random stuff for example I have modern style of clothing but there are no phones yet. They can build a modern toilet but haven't been able to make a dishwasher or washing machine. I don't even know where to begin with it but I'm still discovering.
To make matters worse is the fact that we live in the slums without any single hero around, with the people having vague knowledge on the subject.
All this just attributed to his desire to go home faster. As an otaku, he can't live like this anymore.
