Chapter 1430: One Last Bout
When Zhen Liu put out the call, the effect amongst the Kaijin was immediate and sudden.
They were all busy doing their own things at this point in time, but once they heard that a battle was about to go down, they immediately dropped whatever they were doing and got moving as fast as they could.
For some this distance was relatively short, like Nepherage and Blazejudicator.
[Apologies, but we must go and attend to the Executioner.]
[Let's move!]
The two of them were in the process of helping out the miners with their renovations but were more than happy to drop it if their creator was in trouble.
And from what they could see through the eyes of their allies, they were more than justified in doing so.
For some of the other Kaijin, they were a touch farther, but we're still close enough in the area to make moves.
[Oi, Mysticlassic! We have to move; the maestro is in the middle of a fucking rager!] Hurricroak called out as she ran down the hall of the library, looking significantly more pumped than she did during the fight with Olstenna earlier.
[Why is that our group name?] Razorstella asked her compatriots as she quickly sharpened her claws and legs. [I can kind of get the "classic" portion since I'm a ballet dancer and Springerdermain is a magician. But Screamira, aren't you like a…banshee or something?]
[I technically,] Screamira admitted as she cleared her throat and polished her horns. [But I think I can also count as an opera singer?]
[Isn't your Core dedicated to Rebellion, though?] Springerdermain asked as did some preliminary stretches.
[Yup.]
Hurricroak and the Mysticlassics were simply relaxing in the library, so the call to action was more than welcome to them.
As for the last group of kaijin, the ones that were outside of the library and had duties that pertained to mortal affairs… let's just say that their sudden departure had multiple meanings to multiple people.
[I do hope our clansmen are able to handle the rest of the day's work without us,] Arachanidame pondered as she ran through the desert sand like a bolt of greased lightning.
[We left instructions; it should be fine.] Lacerage reassured her as her wings flew faster than the wind. [Now pick up those legs before I outfly your ass.]
…For context…
"Hey, have you seen Lady Arachanidame and Lady Lacerage? There are some questions in regard to how we're supposed to process this order from across the ocean. Something about the matriarch wanting to see if the steaks from Stampeding Bison taste different in comparison to the ones from Roaring Tide."
"Oh, yeah, they left like…five minutes ago? They did, however, leave a very detailed list of instructions on how to handle this order."
"Well, that's a relief… wait, why did they have to leave?"
"Master Zhen Xing and Master Zhen Tai returned about an hour or so ago and announced that they had managed to find Master Zhen Liu and that he had managed to fix up a method for them to travel back and forth between them in an expedient manner."
"Oh good."
"But then like…five minutes after that, Lady Archanidame and Lady Lacerage made announcements that they were leaving their posts for the time being because something about Master Zhen Liu being caught up in some sort of trouble."
"I…wait, shouldn't we be sending people to assist too?"
"No, because it's Master Zhen Liu. That man has survived worse and will probably go out of his way to make sure none of us get hurt in the process. We would very much be obstacles if we tried to get involved. Especially if the way the secretaries were moving are an indicator of just how bad things are going to get."
"...fair enough."
...Now back to the fun part…
As the kaijin rushed to rejoin their lord in glorious battle, the ones that were already in the fray were having a wonderful time.
Well… as wonderful a time as one could have when they're being actively assaulted on multiple sides by a bunch of wild abominations that had a penchant for eating each other in order to get stronger and stronger by the second.
To their credit, though, neither Zhen Liu, Frosttusk, nor any of the Gallop Brothers were injured while in the process of fighting off all of the kaijin-turned-abominations as they woke up from their petrified states one after the other.
However, they couldn't keep this up for long.
[How many of these bastards are there?!] Pegasoar roared to his brothers and allies as he flew through the air while being chased by a pair of abominations that greatly resembled giant flies. [Oh, will you guys just piss off already!]
At some point during this chase of the flies, Pegasoar got sick of these buzzing bastards and decided to turn around and blast them out of the air with bullets made of air.
[Too many to fucking count!] Depth Strider responded to his brother's inquiry as he charged his spears with aether and [Chaos]. [But I swear we're cutting them down!]
With a shout and a swing, Depth Strider launched a pair of water blades that bisected the arms off of an abomination that looked like an octopus and a gorilla had a demented child.
The octopus-ape abomination let out a howl of pain that sounded like a lovecraftian nightmare as their arms were amputated mid-battle. Making matters worse, some of the more opportunistic abominations began to feast on the severed limbs…and started growing hairy arm-tentacles of their own.
It was all very disgusting.
[Okay, I get that feeling that actively slicing and dicing these bastards is probably a terrible idea going forward,] Depth Strider noted as he blocked the attack of a weird hooked-arm abomination. [Try not to cut them.]
[Yeah, well, burning them seems to actively fuel their appetites too!]
As Rail Horn was making this prior statement, he was in the middle of landing a burning double jump kick into the abdomen of one of the enemy abominations, one that resembled a giant spiky armadillo.
The armadillo abomination was more or less roasted inside of his shell from Rail Horn's attack, and the smell of this meat attracted the attention of the other abominations.
In a matter of moments, and in detail that is way too graphic to write out, the armadillo abomination disappeared down the gullets of several other abominations.
[Yeah, this is getting grosser and grosser by the second.]
Fortunately for the Gallop Brothers, Zhen Liu and Frosttusl had stumbled upon the method on how to beat these bastards.
'Frosttusk, a little help here!'
[Of course, minn jarl! Freezing Blast!]
Understanding that most of the attacks we was going to be dealing with were [Chaos]-based, Zhen Liu figured that busting out [Alf Laya Wa-Laya] would be prudent…and it was.
With a swing of his [Taboo], Zhen Liu captured several blasts of acid being fired his way and and threw it back into the faces of several vicious lizard-like kaijin.
'Eat it!'
Unfortunately, shortly after doing so, a vicious wolf-like abomination appeared and attempted to devour his arm in a single bite.
Thankfully for him, Frosttusk managed to interfere in time.
[Hands off, pup!] Frosttusk trumpeted while releasing a surge of cold air that encased the abomination in a thick casing of ice.
The iced wolf abomination was launched backwards several dozen feet by the sudden blast of air, and was sent whistling past several dozen confused abominations before landing in the worst possible location: impacting the rift.
It was at this moment of contact that Zhen Liu realized what had to be done in dealing with these abominations.
The moment the frozen abomination made contact with the rift, a terrible surge of [Chaos] lashed out and essentially erased the wolf from existence.
No body, no [Core], just pure [Chaos].
[Whoa!]
[What happened to that guy?!]
[I think he just got...unmade. Try to stay as far away as possible from that rift.]
'Wait a minute...'
As horrific as it was to see the abomination return to [Chaos] in such a brutal manner, this was exactly what Zhen Liu needed.
Granted, this was an absolutely terrible idea.
'Alright, I think I know what need to do in order to win this battle,' Zhen Liu informed the kaijin while switching from his [Taboo] to his [Astra].
'I just need you guys to tee them up. I'll handle the rest.'
[Are you crazy, minn jarl?!] Frosttusk protested, running at full speed due to several of the enemy abominations thinking it was a good idea to blast with him fire moments ago. [One wrong move and there's a very real chance that you'll be dragged down into that abyssal rift. And none of us will be able to help you.]
As Kaijin, beings of [Chaos], they were more vulnerable to this hole in reality than Zhen Liu, who had a corporeal body.
If Zhen Liu got sucked in, his body would get battered by [Chaos]. If any of the Kaijin got caught...they would dissolve like sugar in water.
It was a shitty situation, overall.
'Well, it's the best idea I got in the moment,' Zhen Liu assured Frosttusk as he prepared multiple paper cranes. 'Just trust me!'
