Chapter 1429: One Last Hurrah
For many, many reasons, Zhen Liu was rather justified in wanting to just mercy kill all of Dante's wild kaijin spirits.
Every single last one of Dante's Kaijin were designed explicitly to cause suffering and pain, not just to others, but on themselves as well
Dante didn't just infuse [Cores] into aether beasts for shits and giggles, he did it because of two reasons.
First, he couldn't do what Zhen Liu could do to create kaijin. Because he wasn't a true Kaijin Lord, Dante could only twist and distort things that were already ablle to fight on their own.
In other word, between a baby and a broadsword, Dante would go for the baby and turn it into a Kaijin.
Second, and this was the more relevant reason, Dante did so in order to have the pain and suffering of the original aether beasts fuel their new kaijin forms.
Logos and Pathos had informed Zhen Liu, after he had returned home, that the reason why the Kaijin turned back into aether beasts after being defeated a certain way was due to how Dante'd [Cores] physically and mentally twisted and mutated the aether beasts into fighting form.
Every step these monsters took, every breath, every single little movement caused surged of pain to rock their body and make them mee feel miserable as well.
This misery though, was what fueled Dante's Kaijin. Partially, at least.
When Zhen Liu heard about this, he couldn't help but think of Dante's Kaijin as being the equivalent of a shoddy hybrid car.
Except, instead of running on gas and electric, it was a mix of misery and [Chaos].
And unfortunately for these Kaijin, their source of either had gone and dry up...mostly.
Regardless, as Zhen Liu stared over the collection of hibernating kaijin and the hole of reality that was leaking [Chaos] by the second, he considered simply just caving in the place and being done with it all, [Cores] and all...assuming a cave-in would be enough to plug in a hole through reality.
...
'Question, would me bringing down the cavern and forcing a whole fuck ton of rubble into it be enough to collapse the hole into it self?'
<=Is the rubble infused with [Chaos?=>
'No...'
=Then no, it won't work.=
<You're going to have physically touch it or use an appropriate treasure to deal with a hole like that.>
'And I don't have any...hold up...'
=Milord, before you continue your train of thought in regards to closing the hole, but have you considered just...converting all of Dante's Kaijin into being yours? Youve
...
Before committing the action to do so, however, Zhen Liu remembered that he and the curators had just finished making a key for the [Library of Nowhere].
It had the power to open and close doors connected to the oddly populated realm, but Zhen Liu was now wondering if it was possible to do the same to portals that he never created.
'I wonder...'
Summoning the oversized [Key to Anywhere], Zhen Liu could feel the spatial power flowing through it's handle and into his palm.
By sheer coincidence, the hole in reality suddenly started to become a touch more agitated.
'Alright, here's the plan: I'm just going to go up there and see if it's possible to seal it up using the power of this—'
THUNK!
'What the fuck?'
Just as Zhen Liu was about to detail his idea to the Gallop Brothers and Frosttusk, tasking them with either guard duty or destruction first, the hole in reality was the first to make a movie.
From the depths of this strange hole, a single orb of energy suddenly popped out and float around for a bit.
'Uh oh...'
Zhen Liu could immediately guess precisely what this orb was and was oddly tempted to try and interfere with it in some way.
On the other hand, the Kaijin weren't entirely sure what they were looking at to and were freaking the fuck...which was weird.
Well, two of them were freaking out, anyways.
[What the fuck is that?!] Railhorn roared at the sight of the strange spectral orb that had just popped out of the reality hole, immediately entering a defensive stance at the same time.
[Don't know, don't care, I think we need to kill it,] Pegasoar agreed while revving up his internal engine.
Surprisingly, even Depth Strider and Frosttusk looked a bit perturbed by the presence of this strange orb. Albeit, their stoic personalities made it so that they wouldn't immediately panic at the sight, opting to instead quietly and calmly get ready to fight.
Evidently this was the most prudent course of action.
As the spectral orb continued to float around for a bit, it eventually decided to stop doing so above one of the petrified kaijin statues. It then rapidly descended and merged with the stoney being, bringing it to life in a mere matter of milliseconds.
[Gasp!]
'Oh, I got a real bad feeling about this...'
The kaijin that had just been given a chance to live again resembled a terror bird in Zhen Liu'd eyes and began to act like one.
Darting it's head back and forth, the Kaijin looked confused as she began to realize that something rather important was missing: a particular bond.
[The boss...is dead?]
Once this realization became fully digested though, the terrot bird Kaijin suddenly began to release a hideous laugh.
[Hehehe...hehehehe...BAHAHAHA!]
[What the fuck...] Zhen Liu's observing Kaijin couldn't help but to say under their breaths as they watched this clearly manic episode.
[No more Dante, no more whiny brat!] The kaijin began to manically scream with increasing intensity, the [Chaos] around her becoming more and more agitated. [Now I'm free! Free! FREEEEEEEEE!]
As soon as the bird kaijin screeched out at that last proclamation of freedom, the aura around them began to rampage in a manner that Zhen Liu and Frosttusk immediately recognized upon sensing it.
"[ABOMINATIONS!]"
Accompanying this rampaging aura came rampaging mutations.
[ReeeeeeSKREEE!]
Before, the terror bird kaijin looked mostly humanoid with a long bird neck and head, while having arms and legs that were covered in feathers and ended with razor sharp claws.
After the mutations kicked in, the resulting bird abomination looked more like a gorilla than a humanoid, and the sharp beak of the bird head started growing rows and rows of razor sharp teeth.
Making matters worse, the moment this abomination finished transforming, a bunch of other spectral orbs began to pour out of the rift and towards the other petrified kaijin.
[Oh fuck.]
Noticing this surge of activity, Zhen Liu immediately put out the call to the other kaijin that were available to fight at the moment.
'ALL HANDS ON DECK. REPORT TO THE GATE IN THE LIBRARY, NOW! DANTE LEFT US SOME PARTING GIFTS!'
[SKREEE!]
Detecting Zhen Liu's mental waves, the terror bird abomination became immediately incensed and rushed towards the Kaijin Lord with the aim of swallowing him whole and letting their crushing gizzard do the work.
Unfortunately for it, Zhen Liu was rather well guarded.
[Don't...think so!]
Before the vicious beak of the bird-like abomination could do its work, Frosttusk moved in first to block the attack by using both of his massive hands to push against the crushing vice of a mouth.
Layers of ice and frost began to form around the beak as he did, while the abomination's long tongue attempted to reach out and lick the furry mammoth viking.
Unfortunately for the bird, the cold radiating off of the viking Kaijin was too much for the delicate flesh of its tongue.
Granted, this was going to be the least of the bird's problems.
[Gallop Brothers, now!]
[We're on it!]
Due to how the bird abomination was attacking, it had stretched out its neck to a length that made it incredibly easy for opportunistic warriors to take advantage of.
In this case, the Gallop Brothers used this opportunity to coordinate a three pronged attack.
[Burning Charge!]
[Howling Gale Cutter!]
[Ocean Piercer!]
The Gallop Brothers' coordinated attack consisted of a ball of flames, a blade of wind, and a spear of ocean water.
The triple attack impacted the bird-like abomination's neck from three sides, immediately decapitating it.
[BOOYAH!]
Despite this victory, though, this wasn't the of the battle.
No longer having a head, the bird abomination began to stumble backwards, showing signs of regeneration.
[Oh come on!]
Chomp!
[Oh...that's not better.]
Before the bird-like abomination could finish healing itself, another abomination carrying the traits of an iguana suddenly attacked and devoured the bird-like abomination.
During the process, Zhen Liu and his Kaijin could see an array of feathers grow from its body as its mouth began to resemble that of a bird.
And this iguana-bird wasn't the only abomination before then.
Scattered about the cavern, they could see other abominations beginning to revive...and devour each other all the same.
The sight was... quite sickening to see for the kaijin.
'Well, there goes my moral dilemma,' Zhen Liu attempted to joke in the face of horror. 'Time for a mass burial.'
