Kai Lane: Beginning

"It would be best if I didn't let anyone die either."

Despite their calm demeanor, Kai and Emma knew this wouldn't be a simple battle. People were on the verge of death in many places. The situation was dire. Not everyone could resist the Second Stages.

The five Blue Lightnings who had escaped Jack and his group posed a grave risk to the developers.

A black light hissed past the five Blue Lightnings and appeared on the opposite side of the plane. There stood Kai, his hair blowing wildly in the intense wind coming from the plane's hole. He held Sirius in his hand without even turning around. The next second, the wind's thrust caused the five Blue Lightnings' heads to fall from where Kai had cut them.

"That kid is insanely strong!"

The axe-wielding madman shouted with fear and excitement. He couldn't even see how the blonde boy was moving. He doubted he could resist if the boy attacked him.

"Come face me!"

"Huh?!"

At that moment, a delicate girl's voice could be heard. When the axe-wielding maniac raised his head, a beautiful, petite, blonde girl stood before him. She was so beautiful that she stunned even this centuries-old man, but her eyes were as cold and hateful as she was beautiful. Only the mother ship remained, and the enemies on this ship had already been killed. The Axeman was the only one left who could fight Emma, but only because he was buying time with a technique that was burning his life away.

Ten more people were on the ship now. Three of them were in charge of the Green Lightning. Jack had killed one and was now fighting another. The other was being beaten by the remaining developers, and it was clear that the situation was going to get worse before it got better.

After fighting the Axeman, Emma looked up at the seven people hovering there. Her eyebrows furrowed instantly.

Kai shook his head. Then, as if transforming into a beam of light, he appeared in front of one of the seven.

The seven men definitely hadn't expected Kai to be so fast. He suddenly stepped in front of one of them and buried his knee in his face. Before the man could react, Kai sent him flying straight into the gaping hole.

Strangely, though, the man hit something as he was thrown toward it. It was as if he had hit a void. This was something Kai had expected.

"You can't fly this far."

They were thousands of meters above the ground, and the Hunters would have to travel for a long time to reach them. They couldn't stay airborne that long.

Their hovercraft was here! It was inside their plane and invisible. They were probably locked onto the plane with something: A rope or a mana weapon.

'I know what I have to do now. All this time I've been pushing myself and searching for hope, hoping there would be a way.'

'There was no way from the beginning. The future I saw from the beginning is about to come true. I saw this future while I was losing my sense of wonder.'

Despite everything, one thing was certain: Kai's feelings were different now. He was someone filled with emotion. Then, he slowly began to lose them and withdraw from people. He became withdrawn and protective of his emotions. He showed no interest in the Baby Monster who had been by his side since birth. He didn't open up to the woman he loved, and he couldn't trust anyone.

And why now, despite everything? Why was he making them feel this way? Every developer present could see it. They could all feel it. Not just them, either. Everyone on the other planes felt the mothership reaching out to them. Something bright was there.

Jack was the first to realize it, but it was too late. A golden beam of light emanating from Kai's body spread throughout the developers, giving them strength. Kai turned his head slightly and smiled gently. His smile was like a pleasant breeze caressing their skin. Everyone could see the excitement in Kai's eyes.

"I have no hope anymore. I just want you to be safe... Farewell...."

Kai and Jack lunged forward simultaneously, but Jack couldn't catch up. The Black Mana Sword spun in Kai's hand and cut through the air, carrying Sirius with it. Wind, water, fire, and earth spread out in all directions, cutting through another section of space behind the plane. At the same time, however, the jet attached to the plane began to fall. Realizing this, the Seven Hunters rushed toward the jet.

'Thank you, Sirius. Goodbye, Grandpa.'

The sword slipped from Kai's hand and plummeted from the sky. Kai let go, too. From that point on, he couldn't escape. The Man Who Fell from the Sky was about to embrace death...

Just as Kai had given up all hope, Jack appeared at the edge of the ship. Kai's feet had already left the ground, but he could still reach Jack's hands. As long as he held on, he could survive!
