Isekai Dungeon Architect

Chapter 3: Dogfood.exe

-Swiiiiiiiiiiish…

The wind howled like a banshee with a bad sound card. My body was the crashing file download nobody asked for, plummeting straight toward the ground.

My lungs locked up. A strangled scream fought its way out, stuffed with all the lonely angst of a girl who really didn't want to die twice in the same week.

Blue sky smeared into gray stone—then into a gaping chasm yawning like an unpaid internship.

"The hell?!" I managed before—

-SHRRRRRRP-!

-DHAAM!

Impact.

If you could call "being faceplanted into a bed of roots sharper than corporate gossip" soft, then yes. I landed on something "soft."

"Argh…"

Though pain now cracked across my ribs. Vision blurred. Around me was the new world that sounded like a 10-year-old mixer that was repaired thirty times over the years: screeches everywhere, growls, the hiss of blades cutting wind.

I was alive, but barely.

'Welcome to the new world, population: me and everything trying to kill me.'

I had fallen into a forest this time, a forest that most certainly wasn't as friendly as it may have looked from above.

'To make things worse, I was in the middle of nowhere right now.'

And the worst part of it all? There was a blue, holographic, translucent screen hovering right before my eyes.

[World integration will now begin.]

[Your status window has been created.]

There weren't any VRMMOs in my previous world, but there most certainly were many AR games.

People were crazy about them, and I was no exception.

"But this isn't just augmented reality. There really is a blue holographic screen before me!" I was so excited, I thought I had just seen a fun mukbang video.

Perhaps this was it, the eternal escape that I had always wished for~.

"Okay, Aria," I grinned like an idiot, "this is happening. This is really happening."

[Ding!]

When that gate appeared before me, I didn't think my life would turn into an isekai. But hey~! Things happen for a reason, right~?

Perhaps if not a corporate promotion, there was an eternal protagonist suffering and adventures written in my destiny.

"Hmm… a lot to process here."

The status window was before me, and I guess this is the same as having a game panel? But is this status window from this world or the skill those three face being… the administrator gave me?

[Ding!]

[Skill: Assistance System (EX) has detected the owner's question.]

[A <World guide> (P:100,000C) has been shared with the owner.]

[Skill: Assistance System (EX) is triggered for the first time. There will be no charges collected.]

As I watched the three (pink) holographic windows pop up before me, ones that were pretty unique from the blue ones that had appeared previously, I knew something different had happened this time.

But before I could process anything further, a gust of wind started blowing right where I was standing.

-Oooooooooooooooong!

A bright light with the same pink color as the one the screens had appeared, its radiance so great I'm sure it attracted a few beasts around me.

Then, out of the thin air, pages formed, words appeared on these pages, then they combined, and with a blank, hard-bound, black cover that had the words 'World guide' inscribed on it in gold, the book fell to the ground, surprising and astonishing me to no end.

"I see…"

This phenomenon just now gave me more answers than I had asked questions of. But putting that aside…

"Holy shit, that just happened." A book was formed out of the blue, like out of thin air! It actually happened!

'Was that some kind of magic? Damn, it was so amazing, wow!'

Alright, I know this seems immature for someone with my age and experience, but damn man. This was really happening!

"So I guess we really are doing this."

For real this time.

A new world, new powers, new things, new dangers, and new challenges.

'The life of a protagonist might not be all that easy, though.'

With great power comes great responsibility.

A great person had said those famous words, and it made more than just one superhero.

'I didn't want any of this, but hey, maybe I can get a much better life here doing something normal for once.'

Cloud architects weren't that common in that world, so if I could combine the knowledge I had with this WRONG profession they gave me, I might just find the life of comfort I had longed for.

"If this world is anything like those MMO games, then I might really-."

I was lost in my fantasy when the pink window from before appeared before me once again.

"Okay…?"

A quest out of the blue wasn't a good thing, now was it?

Its sudden appearance confused me for a moment, but then something that made a lot of sense happened.

-Shrrr. Shrrrr. Shrrrrrrr!

Slow, fast, faster. Something approached me from behind, and it was at this moment that I realised once again that I was in the middle of a damn forest.

-Shrrr!

"Fucking hell!"

I really didn't want to know what the fuck was coming this way. I just picked up the book and made a run for my life, not in the exact opposite direction, but in a direction to my side.

Whatever was coming this way, there were higher chances that something else was coming from the exact opposite side as well.

Perhaps that thing was trying to corner me, and there was another one hiding on the other side.

The possibilities were endless… and I knew I was in danger at this moment.

'I take my words back!'

It did not take long for the thing that was behind me, actually, to catch up to me when it realised I had detected its presence.

Right now, chasing after me was a freaking wolf twice my height! And I'm pretty tall, so this isn't something normal!

'Monsters!'

There were monsters in this world. And from what I read in that status window, I don't have a single offensive skill!

"Of course it's wolves," I wheezed between gasps. "It's always wolves!"

If it wasn't for that damn system skill, I would still have had some time to think things through!

But no! It had to cause a commotion and invite the monsters!

"Awooooo!"

Wolves hunt in a group; that much was common knowledge.

Common knowledge that even a node-nerd like me knew!

-Thum! Thum! Thum!

My clothes were still in tatters from falling in that hell, there were no shoes beneath my feet, and I'm sure I didn't gain any physical powers from those administrators since I already feel dead exhausted! I'm hungry as well!

'Damn it, I should've had my breakfast in the morning!'

But who would have thought I would get fucked over by my bosses, rage quit, almost get killed by a PINK truck, and then get sucked in by a white freaking door!

'Getting isekaied wasn't in today's to-do list!'

Getting these skills and powers, this system skill, falling from hell to a white room, to this damned forest wasn't in today's schedule either!

'But here we are!'

-Thurrrrrrrr…!

Being chased by not one, not two, but thirty SUV-sized wolves!

My legs are almost dead.

I'm pretty sure these wolves aren't chasing me, but no fucking way I'm going to stop!

'I'm going to die.'

This time, surely!

"Awooooooooooo!"

The wolves howled behind me, closing in, their glowing eyes like headlights in the dark.

I wasn't a hero. I wasn't a warrior. Hell, I wasn't even an adventurer yet!

I was just a nerd with a system skill, bad cardio, and worse luck.

'And right now?'

I was about to be thirty wolves' breakfast special: Dogfood à la Aria!
