Chapter 88: New Power-Type Template
In the heart of New York City, alarms pierced the afternoon's clamor.
"Everyone, make way for Juggernaut."
Juggernaut's roar made the bank's glass buzz and tremble. He charged into the lobby like an out-of-control rhino, concrete floor cracking beneath his feet, and chandeliers swaying precariously.
Panicked customers and staff crouched down, covering their heads. Several security guards had just reached for their sidearms when they were knocked out by counters he casually overturned.
"It's that Mutant robber!" A Police officer's urgent call came through the walkie-talkie, "Request heavy weapon support! Repeat, request—"
Before he could finish, a dozen Police cars had already roared to a halt. The Police quickly formed a perimeter, and bullets rained down on the crimson behemoth.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The bullets hit Juggernaut's skin, but instead of leaving even a White mark, they bounced off. He didn't even stop, just waved his hand impatiently, as if swatting flies.
"Save it, boys." He sneered, turning towards the bank's vault deep inside.
The vault's Adamantium door was two feet thick, enough to withstand missiles, but for Juggernaut, it was just a slightly tougher cookie.
He gripped the door seams with both hands, his muscles bulging like hydraulic presses, and the metal groaned piercingly. With a low growl, the entire door was torn open, hinges and bolts flying like popcorn.
"Now that's more like it." Seeing the piles of cash inside, he grinned, grabbed a prepared giant sack, and started pouring bundles of banknotes into it.
"Hmm, the fresh scent of banknotes, truly invigorating."
As he packed, Juggernaut took a deep breath, his face filled with intoxication.
Other bank staff took the opportunity to escape.
Juggernaut didn't care. He hoisted the sack full of cash, his ton-level footsteps shaking the entire building, causing dust to fall.
When he swaggered out of the bank, the Police could only watch as this invulnerable monster overturned three intercepting Police cars, humming a tune as he strode away.
In the distance, a rookie Police officer trembled as he lowered his pistol: "We… just let him go like that?"
The old Police chief took off his crooked hat, his voice filled with disgust, "Damn Mutant freaks!"
"They won't be arrogant for long. The President has exceptionally approved a weapon project called Sentinel for mass production. In the future, building-high Robots will patrol cities across the U.S. When they encounter Mutants in public places, they will capture them all and send them to laboratories."
"Isn't that a bit of a trampling of human rights, such a big move? What's going on?"
"I heard it's because a Mutant broke into a nuclear missile Base, almost starting World War III. That nuclear missile Base was even wiped off the face of the Earth."
The conversations below reached the ears of two figures in the sky.
"I told you that wouldn't solve the problem at all. Father shouldn't have gone to that military Base." Wanda rubbed her forehead, a slight headache, "Sometimes, I have to say, Professor X's philosophy is sometimes correct.
Father's crude actions made things worse."
"My involvement should also be a factor here."
Russell slowly spoke.
The aftermath of his battle with Magneto destroyed that nuclear missile military Base, plus he waved his hand, making the most terrifying killing weapon on the Human World, nuclear bombs, fall as harmless colorful ribbons.
The terrifying power of nuclear bombs had kept World nations restrained in peace for decades, but they held no deterrence against Mutants.
This President must have been even more anxious.
"The bag isn't full yet. Remember there's another bank a few streets away."
Juggernaut's wild laughter could be heard several blocks away.
It sounded like he was treating banks as ATMs that didn't require cards.
"This big guy is really an oddball. He robbed so much gold from us, and then robbed many banks, but his biggest expenses are just ordering many pizzas every day and installing a tacky disco ball in his house so he can dance whenever he wants."
Wanda watched Juggernaut heading to another bank, shaking her head in confusion.
Logically, robbing money should be for spending it.
Juggernaut's enormous size made it impossible for him to hide anywhere, and his mind wasn't sharp enough to launder the money. He had money but nowhere to spend it, so she didn't know why he still robbed.
"It's normal for ordinary people not to understand his thought process.
He doesn't seem very smart at first glance."
Russell crossed his arms, observing Juggernaut's back.
Strictly speaking, Juggernaut is not a Mutant. His power comes from the Crimson Gem—a gem of the Cosmic God Cyttorak.
Those who gain the gem's power become emissaries of the Crimson God, possessing unrivaled strength, but also experiencing a decrease in intelligence…
'Perhaps as power occupies the high ground, intelligence goes offline.'
"Hey, you two up there, stop badmouthing me! Do you really think Juggernaut can't hear you?!" Juggernaut suddenly stopped, glanced back, and pulled up a nearby lamppost, throwing it like a javelin towards the sky behind him.
Boom!
The lamppost exploded with a sonic boom, shooting through the air. Russell's eyes shot out searing heat vision, melting the lamppost into molten iron that dropped. His sharp gaze shot towards him.
"Big guy, you've robbed something you shouldn't have."
Wanda lightly shouted, releasing Chaos Magic from her hands. The large bag of money flew up telekinetically. Juggernaut tore at the bag, but couldn't stop the money, which he had just gotten and hadn't even warmed up, from flying away.
"My money! You dare to snatch something from my hands?!"
Juggernaut was furious, cracking the ground. His figure shot out like a cannonball, his tall body compressing the air, forming a visible White shockwave, his momentum terrifying.
"Only Juggernaut has ever robbed others, no one has ever robbed Juggernaut."
"Then you'd better get used to it."
Russell's figure flashed in front of Wanda, throwing a lightning-fast punch.
The air blast exploded.
Juggernaut, like a crimson meteorite, smashed through the road surface, asphalt fragments raining down on surrounding buildings, turning storefronts into sieves.
"You have some strength, but it's not enough against Juggernaut. Juggernaut is unstoppable!"
Juggernaut got up, pounding his chest in anger like King Kong provoked on the Empire State Building, his furious voice echoing through the streets: "Come on, little guy, let me crush your bones!"
"As you wish!"
Russell swooped down from the clouds, a black afterimage trailing a sonic boom cloud in the air, and threw a punch. Juggernaut angrily swung his fist, and their fists collided in mid-air—
Boom!!!
The Impact shattered all glass curtain walls within a hundred meters. Juggernaut's legs sank dozens of feet into the ground, creating a large pit, while Russell was bounced back into the sky by the recoil.
"Interesting." Russell shook his numb wrist, his eyes suddenly lighting up with heat vision.
Rumble!
A crimson beam struck Juggernaut's chest, pushing him through three skyscrapers, but the behemoth stood up, laughing wildly amidst the rebar and concrete, his skin showing only faint scorch marks.
"Is that all you've got?"
"Such a hard body."
Russell was slightly surprised.
His strength subtly surpassed his own by a few points, and his defense was beyond mention, almost comparable to a Battle Beast, even one or two points stronger!
Thinking about it, although Juggernaut generally couldn't defeat Hulk, Thor, and others, he had almost never suffered serious injuries at their hands.
This brute's body was indeed incredibly tough, sometimes giving Hulk and Thor headaches.
"Run, run!"
The Police screamed and fled.
