Chapter 755 Tough call
Over the next few days, a series of tremors shook the area, but they were notably distinct from previous ones. Unlike before, these tremors were brief and didn't increase the thickness of the dust clouds. Their sporadic nature raised some questions, particularly as they seemed to originate from multiple directions.
Considering the source, Rain concluded that the magic and beast people were possibly engaged in battles, potentially against the dragons, given the ongoing tension between the factions.
"I can only imagine that the dragons are doing something big this time, but both sides are resisting despite having those barriers that benefit them," Rain said. "I don't think that they will be able to stop them and I also don't think that both sides will look for an alliance with us. Therefore, we should prepare to face the dragons in a single place, where we will have the upperhand."
"... Do you want to gather all of our forces in the capital again?" Branden asked.
"Yes, I don't know how much time we have, but splitting our forces will be a waste of time," Rain said. "Soon enough, I believe the sea folk will be attacked again, and then other dragons will come from the south. Fighting them separately will be useless… even thought it will also be hard to face all of them."
"... We still have the option to join their side and face the dragons," Esmeralda said. "That will increase our chances if even a bit. We will show more resilience as well."
"You have a point, but the magic and beast people won't hesitate in stabbing us on the back on the first chance," Rain said and then he considered something before shaking his head.
"What is wrong?" Branden asked.
"It is nothing… Although I hate the idea, I am not totally agaisnt it," Rain said. "At the very least, we won't risk the population… if the worst comes to the worst, they will have the chance to escape using the underground tunnels."
Everyone's attention turned to Rain, noticing his visible struggle to maintain a sense of reason. The idea of aligning with the magic and beast people visibly troubled him, challenging his pride and convictions. However, in the absence of preferable alternatives, he decided to set aside his personal feelings .

His priority shifted to ensuring that the conflict didn't put the safety of his children in risk, making him relinquish his pride for the sake of their safety.
"... What you two think of that?" Branden asked while studying Rain for a while.
"We don't have any other choice…" Terra said while massaging her eyebrows.
"The dragons shouldn't be waiting for this alliance…" Seara said and then nodded. "Even if it is risky… if we use all of people in a single direction, we should be able to turn the tides of the battle."
The ongoing tremors that lasted for several days indicated an intense confrontation between the beast and magic people against the dragons. The sustained nature of these tremors implied a fierce and prolonged battle, signifying that both sides were putting up a good fight..
Considering all that , it became increasingly evident to Rain and his allies that the alliance between the beast, magic people, and their forces was the most viable and logical option. The strength and resilience exhibited by these factions against the dragons solidified the necessity of joining forces against a common, more powerful enemy.
Rain understood the significance of increasing his own strength in this scenario. His belief in his ability to confront and overpower the dragons was evident in his determination to grow stronger by eliminating as many of them as possible. He aimed to reach a level of power that would render the magic and beast people incapable of posing any threat to him and his friends in the future.
"I am going ahead first… going as a group when we can't use magic inside their barrier will only slow us down as a group," Rain said. "Even without magic, I should be able to escape them."
"... We need to at least confirm that they are indeed fighting instead of this just being a trap," Terra said.
"I will fly above their barriers and then check things with my telescope, that should do the trick, once I confirm that, I will go and talk with them," Rain said.
Everyone nodded even though they looked a bit uneasy, but they still had a lot of work to do… contact all the others, prepare supplies, and equipment… ask Lotto to increase the production of gear as well. Perhaps even find ways to transport the giant crossbows. There were many things to do and too little time.
"We don't know if we will have time to enter the battle before one of the side loses," Rain said. "I think that the beast people should have the advantage since they are better at close range and the dragons that attacked their territory are small in numbers. Still, we should leave Dad and my sisters still guarding the capital just in case."
"I will pass to them the message," Terra said.
"All right, I am off," Rain said and then dashed out of the castle.
Rain began to fly as fast as he could… before long, he crossed the wind barrier and realized that he should have written a few more things in the book as well. He didn't write anything about tactics and how to surprise the enemies in most situations… there was no point in worrying about that, though.
"It isn't like I didn't expect that we would team up again with the allies that became enemies in the last few years, but the situation still is troubling," Rain thought. "I didn't think too much about this until now… but I think that I need some serious countermeasures in case the situation takes a drastic course to the worst."
Lately, Rain didn't feel like he was being pessimist… he felt like his instincts were warning him of a terrible development. Fortunately, he had one idea to avoid it…
