Chapter 114: Dangers of the World's End Gate, [Demon Mummy (B+)]
This "monster" was also the reason why Victor was here today.
Interrupting Kaida's violent punching session with the Indestructible, Victor shouted, "Kaida!!"
"Hmm…?"
Kaida unleashed another punch in the direction of the voice's source, which caused a powerful gust of wind to send Victor's blonde hair into a wild flurry.
In that instant, he instinctively knew that if he were up close and not moving at all, that casual attack of hers would've immediately killed him. Fortunately, though, he was stupidly fast—fast enough to run circles around Kaida, pay a visit to Africa, pet a giraffe, and then return to her before the devastating attack even touched where he was originally standing.
However, this didn't mean that he would for sure win in a fight against her, as her S-Rank |Draconic Defense| Skill brought her Fortitude to a level that exceeded all reason. It was to the point that even if he attacked thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of times at her weakest spots, such as the eyes, no damage would be dealt on his part.
In their hypothetical battle scenario, the result would be a definite tie.
"Well… What are you doing here, Victor?" asked Kaida, slightly irritated over being interrupted during her training time. "Can't you see that I'm hitting things right now??"
"Y-Yes, I can clearly see that you're… hitting things."
"So then why are you here? Speak up quickly, or else the next punching bug I use shall be you."
Victor felt a suffocating pressure fall upon his shoulders, yet he knew that Kaida meant no real harm by this. Even her words, although harsh, were said only because that was just the kind of person she was. One's Affinity, often associated with the Skills or qualities one awakened with, a lot of the time influenced the personality of the person following the awakening.
Similar to how Cassius was subtly changing the stronger he became and the more abilities he unlocked, Kaida inherited what her affinity dictated, and it in no way happened very subtly.
Sighing in defeat, Victor teleported next to the fierce red-haired beauty.
Ignoring her exposed skin and scantily dressed warrior attire, he looked her in the eye.
"If you go into World's End, you will… die," said Victor, completely serious. "Knowing your rash personality, you will surely attempt to fight 'it,' but doing so will lead to your demise. No matter how confident you are or what you believe you can do, against that 'monster,' you will meet your end."
Kaida narrowed her eyes as a dangerous intent leaked from her aura. "Victor, do you believe that I'm weak or something? If so, then we can fight right now—"
"Kaida, I'm saying this for your own good." Victor's voice cut through hers, his tone grave. "If you… If you enter that Gate, you will die without a hint of doubt. If not for once in this life, just listen to me and make an excuse not to enter the Gate. Trade your spot with someone else, plead—it doesn't matter. Just don't go into World's End."
Kaida, as short-tempered as she was, only selectively took what she wanted from Victor's genuine warning. Her immensely powerful aura flared up further as she clenched the great scaled axe in her hand.
"If you're itching for a fight so badly, then you shall have it!" she snarled, her pretty expression scrunched up in annoyance.
However, before she could make a move, Victor's sigh resounded, effectively messing up her surging momentum.
"Heed my words or don't, Kaida, but as friends, I did my part," he muttered. "If you still want to seek out an early grave, then so be it. But just know that, although you are extremely strong, that 'monster' is stronger."
"If, even after all this, you insist on entering World's End, then just know that I will take care of your Guild until the rest of the world meets its end as well."
With that, Victor faded out of existence, his expression appearing rather blue and melancholic as he disappeared.
Kaida, left all alone to simmer in the large empty arena, at some point clicked her tongue in mock anger. "That bastard Victor—just because he lost to the Boss Monster of some stupid Gate, he thinks everyone else will lose as well," she snorted. "Humph! I would like to see for myself just how powerful the one who bested Victor is! If it can withstand five of my mightiest punches, then I will consider giving it a painless death!"
It wasn't that Kaida was entirely stupid and incorrigible, but even if she did decide against her draconic nature and back out of the Raid, with the Dragon Slayer's presence, she had to go. Discover exclusive content at empire
Due to international matters of security, she was normally unable to fight that cocky bastard. However, that would all change as soon as they were inside the Gate.
She would knock out a few of that dragon slayer bastard's teeth, no matter what sort of Boss Monster slept within the Gate!

—In an unknown destroyed corridor of the A++ Rank Boss Area 'Oracle Sphinx's Pyramid'—
*Whoosh—!*
Wind furiously surged behind a rapidly moving figure as he slashed through several dark yellow mummified humanoids. They, unlike the terrifying demons outside the pyramid, were neither red nor extremely large. They instead took on the form of modern-day mummies, concealing the hideous sights that lay beneath their bandaged outer layers.
However, do not be mistaken. None of these puzzling existences were weak. At first, they moved slow, pretending to be frail and defenseless. Then, when you let your guard down, they creepily grinned through their bandages and killed you.

—[The lowest-level mobs of the Oracle Sphinx's Pyramid. Also the Oracle mob most rich in quantity.]
Every single one of them was of the B+ Rank, meaning that hundreds of thousands, or even millions of town-destroying Demons were wandering around inside the Pyramid. And they were merely the weakest among everything hostile within the confines of this enormous place.
What lay deeper into the Pyramid was still unknown.
