Chapter 67: Elizabeth's new moniker
It was somewhat hilarious the reaction that Elizabeth's rank brought forth; the young master and his nemesis made themselves scarce the moment that Elizabeth pretended that she wasn't paying attention to them.
And to ensure that Rossie and Rena played into that, all it took was for Elizabeth to extend her hands toward both girls, they quickly ran to her and so, Elizabeth hugged both of them.
And with the greatest speed that their meagre rank B could provide them, the young master and the nemesis ran, they ran for their lives.
"So, when do we get the shiny card that makes people start to do what we say to them?" Rena said turning to the supervisor who wanted to run away but was not brave enough to do so.
"Heh....we will.... be delivering the A-Tier cards within the next five working days..." The supervisor said gulping and then looking at Elizabeth who merely raised an eyebrow at him, "But for your eminence we can accelerate the process!"
"Good, we wouldn't want to have to wait here longer than needed right Eli-Eli?" Rossie said nodding and snuggling closer to Elizabeth, "You get annoyed quite easily nowadays right Eli-Eli?"
"I mean..." Elizabeth said, catching on to what Rossie and Rena were doing, "... What are the penalties applied to a S-Tier nowadays for crimes?"
"Last I checked... Unless you kill a president and broadcast it worldwide... nothing much." Rossie said smirking at the supervisor.
"I'll personally get it done!" Said the man when he exited at his top speed, which was kind of slow to Elizabeth's perception, but that only made it funnier.
"The poor man will get an aneurysm." Elizabeth said giggling, "You didn't need to scare the man that badly Rossie."
"He gets what he deserves," Rossie said grumbling, "He disregarded us because we aren't known, and was buttering up to the other weakling, only because he is the son of a mayor? A president? Those titles are meaningless in the face of real power."
"That is true, but then that would become a dictatorship, and we don't live in one within Zaanam." Elizabeth said sighing, "There are rules and they must be respected unless we want anarchy."
"So you are going to follow those rules?" Rossie asked, already taking a step away from Elizabeth, "These rules mean we wouldn't be able to marry, or that you must submit yourself to their orders."
"...I mean, within reason." Elizabeth said groaning at what her girlfriends had pointed out, "Besides, I am technically going to be a leader of state, so I get some extra permits, not like I am going to marry within Zaanam anyway, so their rules matter not to us!"
And that was really the important bit, they only had done all of this because Elizabeth needed the data to get to the people she wanted to bother. That is to say, [The Nine Stars].
"Here are your credentials, Miss!" The supervisor came running, haggard, but with three cards inside a small gold box with a crystal top that allowed her to peek inside the box. "Your credentials are ready to use."
"Thank you," Elizabeth said opening the lid of the box and taking one of the credentials, "S-Tier: Shadow Empress."
"A-Tier: Sylphie Starheart..." Rossie said taking the card to the right of where Elizabeth had been.
"A-Tier: Demon Slaying Sword..." Rena was the one to grab hers next.
"If you wish for a change of name or something just ask, please!" The man said while falling to one knee and bowing to Elizabeth and company.
"Why Shadow Empress and not Stardust Weaver? Or even Shadow Weaver?" Elizabeth asked, those had been the titles she had gone by after all.
"...If you wish for a new one we can..." The supervisor said trying to extend
"No, that is fine." Elizabeth said shaking her head, "If anything…."
Elizabeth channeled some mana into the card, found the mana circuits within the card. A few poking, some twisting and sure enough, the card started to shift and the data changed, from Shadow Empress to Stardust Weaver.
"Sure enough, it works like I thought," Elizabeth said nodding at the data that changed within the card. "Thank you."
The supervisor looked at the card, then to Elizabeth, then to the card. At the end the supervisor sighed and stopped speaking, Rena and Rossie nodded at this and didn't say anything but merely waved at the supervisor goodbye.
Elizabeth and company walked out as if nothing special had happened. Elizabeth made sure that her Shadow Dragons spread around and delayed the transmission of the information. She could already perceive the data attempting to leave, and a couple of techies were losing their minds as they couldn't find a reason for the delay in transmission.
Elizabeth made sure to tell her shadow dragons to delete the extra data that was repeated, no one else needed to suffer for these data shenanigans. She would ensure only one copy of the data was transmitted...
"Let's go then, we have an appointment." After she had fully left, so taking her girlfriends by the hands, Elizabeth started walking out.
Sure enough, there was a stream of news reporters flooding in, but most ignored her as she walked by. Why? Because she was an unknown factor.
Some people did take a second look at Rossie, but that was to be expected, as she was the daughter of a strong political force within Camelot, but this was not Camelot, so even those who looked at her merely did so with a glance and ran past them.
"They will regret that," Rossie said with a smug smile on her face, "They will so regret that... But before that, where are we going Eli-Eli?"

"Well, we have an appointment." Elizabeth said as shadows climbed their bodies, covering the three girls, not a single one of them was restrained by the shadows, and while some of the reporters seemed to have noticed it.
Not a single one pointed their cameras at them.
"Shadow Step," Elizabeth said the words and a second later the three girls vanished from Avalon.
As they did, the data streams that the Shadow Dragons had been stopping went out as one. With those, the reporter's cellphone started sounding as alarms blared, the data had come to them as a tidal wave.
The news about a pair of A-tier holders... One even going as far as coming out almost as an A+ Tier. Accompanied by a lone girl who had made it to the S-Tier.
The realm held by monsters and entities that most people assumed had come from myths, people used to think of them as monsters before the Advent of the System. They of course knew about them, everyone knew about the [Twelve], or a version of them anyway.
But when the System came and gave everyone a very visible way to quantify their power and grow it, more often than not, people started to crave that power. And the path of ascension towards the higher tiers was blasted open.
More than a few thought 'We will be the next great legend...'
And more than one failed, when they found the wall that is known as [Talent] and [Determination]. Not enough talent to boost your power, not enough determination to break it open when you arrived at the wall of talent.
And that was why most people could barely arrive at B-Tier. Hell, Elizabeth knew the truth, that more than one of the members of [The Nine Stars] wasn't a real S-Tier.
Merely people with A or B-Tier power that had managed to make their use so ingenious that not many could question it. Even when their base power was way lower.
Elizabeth was one such case. She had managed to defeat people above her power scale with less because she had mastered her craft. She had achieved the peak in the manipulation of the elements she wielded.
Made her own the mana that many would have cursed as a punishment, and it was thanks to that fact, that very fact, that Elizabeth could stand proud today. That she had managed to arrive at the realm of gods and myths.
But then again, the populace wouldn't know that, not yet.
All the reporters would find out was the name by which the new S-Tier went by, [S-Tier: The Mistress of Sin].
It was not a name tied to Elizabeth in any way or form, and since she was registered at the same time as Rossie and Rena, she would expect for people in the know to link it back to her, perhaps Echidna would know it was her.
Nay, Elizabeth was sure the shadow woman already knew it, but the others? [The Prophet] would probably think it was Jenna or one of Elizabeth's allies attempting to stir something. Elizabeth doubted the Italians would truly believe that she had risen this much in so little time. Last they had seen of her, Elizabeth was B-Tier at best, after all.
Elizabeth was looking forward to that.
But for now...
Elizabeth focused on the mana that seeped around them as the Shadow Step came to an end, at this point it was so much more than that, it was coming closer to perhaps something more tied to Space?
Elizabeth would probably need to start changing how she referred to it.
"Here is...?" Rena said as the shadows peeled away and showed the surroundings to them once more.
"Camelot." Rossie said as she looked around, "What are we doing here Eli-Eli? I thought we would go back to the Cathedral?"
"Easy, we have credentials and people are running around the world to Avalon in search of us," Elizabeth said flashing her S-Tier card, it showed her newest identity as [The Mistress of Sin]. "So this is the perfect time to do something else."
"And that is?" Rena asked as she looked around, confused, it was obvious to them since they had never spent that much time here if Elizabeth thought about it.
"Getting married of course!" Elizabeth said nodding, "Rossie was right, so I thought about it... And what better place to marry than Camelot!"
"Camelot?" Rossie asked looking around once more, "But..."
"I know," Elizabeth said nodding, "Most of our bad memories are tied here, Advent happened... And for some reason we keep returning here. So better close it here."
"Right..." Rena said sighing, "So... Then the registry?"
"Right around the corner," Elizabeth said pointing behind her, "I teleported us to one of the blind spots, I guess the heroes or villains use it to teleport or probably have a base around here..."
Elizabeth could feel most of the surveillance systems around, and this was the sole spot that was devoid of anything, not like it mattered since people who manned the surveillance would see someone coming from this spot when they hadn't come in before.
So it was obvious when someone teleported here, but people were dumb, they ignored such cases, and worst of all...
Elizabeth could feel a hidden base in the sewer system. Imagine having a base in the sewers. People could get so uncivilized... If you have money to hide a whole ass base in the sewers, you have enough money to make a hidden base within a building.
At least the asshole had that going for him, and most of his hidden bases were set up in skyscrapers and buildings that defied the laws of physics. Granted, he also made subterranean bases, but they weren't made into the sewers and more like the sewers got built around those bases...
"And now I am defending the asshole..." Elizabeth said shaking her head, "Okay, so... do you all have your paperwork ready?"
"Yes," "Yes!" Rossie and Rena said pulling out the paperwork they had filled before, Elizabeth had delegated her own paperwork to Mordred, so it was perfect.
"Let's go then." And so, Elizabeth and company walked into the civil registry office at the other side of the street.
"And done, do you have the witness?" The civil registry officer said in a tired tone looking up at the three girls. "If not you can delay this for 24 hours till you need to file it again."
"Yes," Elizabeth said snapping her fingers.
"At your service," "What will it be today Mistress?" "NO YOU STUPID HORSE DON'T THROW YOUR JOCK- Huh?"
Three figures teleported behind Elizabeth, Rossie and Rena. The first one was Mordred who made a small curtsy towards Elizabeth when she materialized. The second one was Aura who held that smug look on her face, and the third one was Arthur Saintsworths [The Traveler].
"Ehem... Greetings ladies, what can this humble one do for you?" The [Traveler] said fixing his clothes and pretending to be the cool type of guy.
"...I don't mind what you do on your free time, but don't waste all your money." Elizabeth said, sighing, "Here are our witnesses, I was told three were enough."
"...Yes." The civil registry officer said, narrowing his eyes, "I will need IDs of them. If you can't provide them, they will need a guarantor. Depending on the guarantor, we may require between seventy-two hours and a month to verify their identities."
"Mistress..?" Mordred said with worry on her face.
"Everything is fine, Mordred," Elizabeth said, turning to [The Traveler], "You will guarantee Mordred, pull out your ID. All of them."
"...*Sigh* Sure, why not. As you command Mistress." [The Traveler] said, pulling out two IDs, "Here is my driver's license and my Hero License."
"Hero's licenses aren't needed, not even...if...you....huh?" The civil registry officer said as he read the ID once, twice and three times, as if the data would change, then with a trembling hand pulled a scanner and as if praying to his gods that nothing would happen.... "[The Traveler]" he read the data that was pulled from the screen to his side.
"...I...I..." The man stuttered, "Can...only...accept him...as guarantor...for...one... I'm....sorry?"
"So he says Mistress," [The Traveler] said shrugging, "Do you want me to go for the midget?"
"That is fine," Elizabeth said pulling out her own ID and the new card she had been given, "Here are mine. I will guarantee Aura's identity."
The man with trembling hands took the two cards, and as soon as he saw the tier on the second card, he closed his eyes and pointed the scanner at the card. A *Beep* later, he still hadn't opened his eyes.
"*Whistle* So you registered heh... Now I will not need to worry when people see me working for you, good." [The Traveler] said nodding.
"....[The Mistress of Sin]..." The poor man said reading the data, "Newest S-Tier... Registered two minutes ago in Avalon....?"
"I travel fast," Elizabeth said smiling at the man and offering Rossie and Rena's IDs. "So...can you hurry up the paperwork?"
"But why [Mistress of Sin]?" Arthur asked from the side, "Wasn't your whole thing being an [Empress] or a [Magical Girl]?"
"I mean, doesn't this sound more intimidating? Besides... This makes it more obvious that I am an antagonist to the Italians, doesn't it?" Elizabeth said smirking, "If I still went by [The Shadow Empress] they would think I am affiliated to Echidna, and if I was still [Stardust Weaver] then they would think I am affiliated to the [Council of Magical Girls]."
"That is true..." Arthur said, nodding at Elizabeth's comments, "So...does that mean we need to deal with this one when he finishes?"
"*Gulp*" The civil registry man continued filling out the paperwork as fast as he could.
"That will not be necessary, not like he can glimpse anything. A Shadow Dragon will remain here to ensure he doesn't do anything funny tho." Elizabeth said as the shadows behind her shifted and morphed into the image of a vicious dragon maw. A stark contrast with how cute and adorable her shadow dragons were.
Not like they acted very much like shadows nowadays...
"Fair," Arthur said, then turning to the civil registry officer, he stated, "You may want to ask for your vacation time by the way."
"...Sir?" The registry officer asked, "What...what do you mean?"
"Well, you got just got tangled in the most relevant event of this century. So you do not want to be here, the data is being blocked and will come out as soon as these girls leave. So you do not want to be here when Echidna's goons arrive." Arthur said shrugging, "I will do you a freebie as someone who got tangled in things they didn't want, I will drop you in the safest spot for you."
"....Thank you?" The civil registry officer said confused as he printed a document and gave it to Elizabeth, "Your marriage certificate...Mistress?"
"Thank you," Elizabeth said taking the piece of paper that started to shine in golden mana as soon as it touched Elizabeth's hands, the next second the piece of paper had been infused with as much Prana as Elizabeth could channel and then was promptly stored within her Reliquary.
It would be as safe as it was possible while Elizabeth was alive, with all her important memories and mementos.
One step closer to her ultimate plan.
Now...Now she only needed to survive the next week.
Easy.
