Chapter 100: final day of the second year
After hours of traveling, the group finally returned to the city, where their parents were anxiously waiting for them.
Once reunited, the group began recounting their experiences during the mission. To say the parents were shocked would be an understatement.
Mother: "Huh? You fought the Dark Mage Organization, battled the strongest high-ranked Djinn, and won?"
Dakota: "Yeah, pretty much."
Father: "And did you say you also met a witch? And she told you about some unseen creature?"
Dakota: "Oh, yeah. That unseen creature... I still don't know who—or what—it is. But I'm guessing it's something on the level of Blazer and Fianna."
Everyone at the table nearly fell backward upon hearing that. The idea of another entity comparable to Blazer and Fianna was almost too much to comprehend.
Franklin: "No—no way. You must be lying. There's no way!"
Dakota: "I wish I were lying. But the way the witch described it, I'd say it's incredibly powerful."
Dakota let out a sigh. He couldn't believe it himself—this creature wasn't part of his novel. How could something he didn't create exist? Was it because he and his friends were here, even though they weren't supposed to be? Could their mere presence have altered the future so drastically? The thought sent a chill down his spine.
Dakota (thinking): This is insane. Just what kind of future awaits me now?
After a bit more discussion, Dakota broke the tension.
Dakota: "Anyway, we should all head back to our homes. Let's meet up tomorrow."
Everyone agreed, parting ways for the evening.

Months passed uneventfully, and now it was the final day of the second year at the academy.
Dakota (thinking): The last day of the second year… The beginning was intense, but after that, barely anything interesting happened. What could that mean? Am I just being paranoid?
He shook his head, brushing aside his thoughts.
Oh well, no point worrying about that now. I have something else to focus on.
When Dakota arrived at the academy, his group was already waiting for him. After exchanging greetings, they headed inside. As the day went on, they completed their lessons, and soon it was time to celebrate the third-years' graduation.
Edward: "And here are all the third-years who are graduating. Please, let's give them a big round of applause."
The entire academy erupted into clapping and cheers. After a few moments, Andri, the third-year who had lost to Dakota's group during the tournament, stepped up to the microphone.
Dakota (thinking): Oh? A speech, huh? This should be interesting.
Andri took a deep breath before speaking.
Andri: "First, I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me and my group over these past three years. Second, I want to share a few words with my juniors and classmates.
"These past three years have been the best of my life. I've met incredible friends who I'll stay close to even after we graduate. We were once the strongest group in the academy, which earned us fame and respect—but more importantly, it inspired others to look up to us.
"I hope I've inspired my juniors to achieve even greater things. Most of all, don't take your time at the academy for granted. Do what you love while you're young, so you won't regret it later. That's all I wanted to say. Thank you, and goodbye."
The room fell silent for a moment before thunderous applause and cheers broke out.
Dakota (thinking): I've got to admit, that was a good speech. You really proved yourself, Andri. You're a good guy, just as I thought.
Ava: "I guess he wasn't so bad after all. That speech was good."
Dakota: "Huh? I'm surprised to hear you admit that."
Ava: "And what's that supposed to mean?"
Dakota: "Nothing. But I need you to gather the group after the ceremony. Bring them to the training grounds. I have something to say."
Ava: "...Fine. I'll do it."
As the academy year officially ended, Dakota stood outside, reflecting on what lay ahead.
Dakota (thinking): After the summer break, the third year will begin—the year 2049-2050. That means the Dungeon of Wishes and Terrors will appear soon. The most dangerous dungeon in the world's history. I'll need to get much stronger than I am now to conquer it… If I even can.
He sighed deeply before heading to the training grounds, where the group had gathered as instructed.
Henry: "So, what's this about, Dakota?"
Dakota: "I called you here because I want us to become an official group."
Henry: "An official group, huh? I like the sound of that. Let's do it."
Ava: "Wait—can we even do that? Don't we have to graduate first?"
Dakota: "Don't worry. I'll take care of it. But there's one thing we absolutely need to do over the summer break."
Lucas: "And what's that?"
Dakota: "We need to get much stronger. I mean, stronger than we've ever been. And unlike last summer break, we'll be training together this time."
Henry: "You're making it sound like something serious is about to happen. Is this one of your feelings again?"
Dakota: "Yeah, you could say that." More like I already know it will happen, but I can't tell them that… yet.
Henry: "So, would you mind explaining why the Dark Mage leader called you the 'God of this World'?"
Dakota stiffened at the question but managed to keep his composure.
Dakota: "...Even I don't know why they called me that. I'm not the god of this world or any other."
The lie left a bitter taste in his mouth, but he wasn't ready to reveal the truth. Not yet.
Ava: "Oh, please. Even if you did know, you wouldn't tell us. You're full of secrets."
The group nodded in agreement, drawing a sigh from Dakota.
Dakota: "Alright. Let's go register for the official group test. From now on, we're going to be a real team."
As they followed Dakota, they unknowingly set out on a path filled with both disasters and happiness—one that would shape their fates forever.
