I Know the Secret to Surpass Level 100

Chapter 570: Elliot's Past Part 2

"Look what you did," Irus grunted as he walked closer to the now petrified Bruno. The Angel was cornered and had nowhere to go, so he resorted to a tactic that would guarantee his safety while being on the offensive side.

"He knew that it would be hard to escape his technique and we needed him to deactivate it just in case," Irus said. "That's why he petrified himself, a skill that's easy to cast but hard to break especially if it's like this."

"Sorry," Connor looked down. "I really didn't know what got into me. It was like my body moved on its own."

"He must've used Angelic Taunt as well," Irus whispered. "You're still really below the power you need in order to support your friend, Elliot."

"Support him?" Connor asked. "Why do I need to support him?"

"I guess none of you still realized it yet or know what would happen if we take down Malice as the Candidate to be the next Absolute," Irus said. "The election will stop andthe the oldest living Candidate will automatically win."

"The..." Connor paused. "Who's the oldest candidate?"

"The King of Heaven," Irus said. "Right now, his identity is still unknown. Even Sariel does not know who he is."

"Then..." Connor paused. "If he becomes and Absolute, then he will alter the course of life on the entire six realms like what the Angels are doing."

"It's their ultimate victory and the Almighty nor the Forsaken could do anything about it," Irus muttered. "That is why no matter what happens, you have to get much stronger than you are now."

"But what does that have to do—" Connor stopped and stared at Irus for a couple of seconds. "You mean... Why?"

"There's no better one to choose from," Irus said. "I cannot become one because I worked directly under the an Absolute and I would be disqualified if I try. I have to wait two centuries more before I can try. Other people does not stand a chance against the other candidates. The first is the King of Heaven and the other one is the man from your realm."

"Man from my realm?" Connor asked. "What?"

"Connor, as the oldest friend of Elliot you have to know who your friend really is," Irus said. "The thing I was imprisoned from have been passed on from one person to another and I have seen their lives end. This time, I was freed. Fate aligned and I can finally help this person achieve something that all his predecessors could only try.

"Although I cannot share what it exactly is, please know that right now, Elliot is the most powerful half breed," Irus said. "You can't—"

Irus suddenly flinched and conjured a shield behind him. A golden spear was launched from nowhere, hitting the shield before exploding. The Behemoth sneaked from the smoke and took Bruno's petrified body and escaped along with Connor.

"What was that?" Connot asked as he followed Irus. "That golden spear. It looked rather familiar. I have seen that before."

"I guess they don't want me to share it just yet," Irus said. "Those damned fools. How long will it take for them to realize that the time is now?"

"Who are you talking about?" Connot asked worriedly. "Why are we being targeted by such attacks? Do they want Bruno dead?"

"No," Irus said. "They wanted to keep their secret safe and if it meant killing me, then they would do it. They're really stupid and I'm so mad."

When they got out of the forest, they stopped in their tracks as a man with a cigarette in between his lips stood there. He was holding a familiar sword that made Connor's eyes widen in shock and fear.

"What are you doing here?" Connor asked. "You're..."

"Stop it!" Irus yelled. "It's time to tell them the truth! Elliot is in Eternal Limbo which means that his sealed memory will be revealed. You can't hide from the truth anymore."

"I really thought we'd make it sealed for two or three weeks more," the man laughed. "I guess you're right."

"I don't get it. What?" Connor was running out of words. "Who is he?"

Irus glared. "He's a member of Pentos!"

"Mama, the meal we ate earlier was delicious," Elliot giggled as he walked across the street with his mother.

She smiled at him as they continued to walk around the city. "Where are we going, mama?"

"Mama will meet up with some friends," she said with a smile on her face. "They will move their guild here so they could be closer to us."

A sudden flood of people washed Elliot away from his mother's hands. Everything felt like it was on slow motion as she watched the small hands leave her fingers.

The woman was screaming his name, desperately trying to find him amongst the crowd. Meanwhile, Elliot was crying as he was pushed away from the people and into a narrow street. He was rubbing his eyes and wiping his nose with his clothes.

"Do you want to see your mother, child?"

Elliot turned back to look at the source of the voice when he was greeted with a large portal with a grotesque-looking head peeking through it. His body froze and his mind went blank as the creature reached out to him.

"Stay away from the child!" A woman yelled and slashed a sword made of black energy through the creature's face. "Pathetic low lives."

She slashed her sword several more times, mincing the creature into nothingness before closing the portal. "Child. Come on, let's look for your mother."

"Who are you?" Elliot asked, wiping his face with the back of his hand. "Thank you."

"Don't worry about it." Trinidad smirked and carried Elliot. "Now, where is your mother?"

On the other side of the city, a group of men was comforting Elliot's mother. She was crying as she asks them for help. "I was holding his hand and then a large group of people rushed through us and then I lost him. I lost him!"

"You don't have to be such a weeping woman. It's not like you have no protection in this city," Trinidad said as he handed Elliot to his mother. "You have to be careful, Melissa."

"Mama!" Elliot cheered as he went into his mother's arms. "Mama."

"Thank you," Melissa nodded. "I would never know what to do if it weren't for you guys. Trinidad, you've always kept us safe."

"She should." A man spoke. Elliot peeked above Melissa's shoulders, only for his eyes to widen.

"What—" Elliot suddenly said. "What are you doing here?"

Elliot's memories came flooding back. The distraction of him thinking that his true life was only a dream suddenly shattered and everything made sense. He was lost, but it seemed like everything was clearer.

"Elliot?" Melissa asked. "What is it, my dear?"

Elliot struggled his way out of his mother's arms and stepped back. "Mother, are they your friends?"

Melissa looked back and nodded. "They are friends with your father, Elliot. And they're my friends too."

"Melissa..." Elliot spoke. "Mother, what's my father's name?"

Melissa looked back to the others. "Reginald, why?"

Elliot gulped. "And why are Frederick, Luck, and old man Francoise your friends? Why are they here?"
