Chapter 519: Midnight's Forsaken Form
Out of nowhere, a gigantic beam of multi-colored light erupted from the skies. Death wasn't able to dodge the attack because of how fast it was.
"What–"
The beam swallowed Death. He was screaming inside, trying to find a way to break free from the attack, but it was useless.
There were several magic circles on the top part of the beam. The magic circles provided magic that restricted Death's movements. He was trapped.
"That's my woman!" Galaxia screamed as he panted. He was hovering in the air, wielding a bright galaxy-colored sword and shield along with a light armor with the same theme.
He stood tall, proudly wielding both of his weapons as he prepared for Death's retaliation. He knew that the attack wouldn't finish the Guard. He was too powerful to succumb to such an easy trick.
"What are you doing?" Midnight raised his eyebrow, crossing his arms as he demanded an explanation. "What is all this?"
"We have been tracking Death since the fight," Galaxia said. "The church of Son of Heaven gathered all of their followers for that attack."
"An entire church launched that attack?" Death smirked. He was clouded with the smoke from the attack but his presence has resurfaced after the aura of the beam vanished. "How pitiful. And it didn't even manage to hurt me. Not one bit."
"Watch out!" Galaxia yelled. He slammed his shield on the ground and created a bigger shield with his galaxy magic. Death fired a series of attacks at them, a rain of black flames.
Death was merciless when he attacked. He was firing in all directions and with all the power that he could muster. A single tear of flame could destroy a group of houses. He was firing a hundred per second. Galaxia could only hold so much before he ran out of magic and his shield shattered.
"He's really powerful," Galaxia fell to his knees after he defended them from the attack.
Midnight sighed and created wings on his back. He stepped forward and looked back, flexing the entire span of his wings which reached up to five meters each. He then wrapped themselves inside the wing as he absorbed all incoming attacks.
"You're really out there trying to impress me when you know that I can defend myself," Midnight smirked. "I appreciate everything that you've done for me, Galaxia. But we're not at the orphanage anymore."
The larger man was silent. He looked down to the ground as he listened to everything that Midnight has to say.
"You protected me at my most vulnerable moments. You were the torch that guide me in my darkest times," Midnight smiled. "But it's time to leave the past and focus on the present."
He retracted the wings and turned to face Death. "And the present Midnight is stronger than anyone with Dark affinity."
Midnight raised both of his hands to the side as he gathered his energy. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "Dark Morph. Ruler of the Abyss, Forsaken!"
A burst of pure dark magic erupted from Midnight. He crossed his arms in front of him and a ancient symbol appeared before it entered his chest.
His skin turned pitch black and his body became larger. Six pairs of wings grew from his back, each with distinctive size. He curled into a fetal position as a black orb of energy swallowed him before it exploded, revealing Midnight's new form.
"Big bro, I have never seen you in that form," Sun said. "Do I have one too?"
Midnight smirked at his little brother. He then turned to Death who had his eyes widen in shock and fear.
His upper body was naked, but his lower body had a pair of tight black pants with golden detailing. He also wore a pair of golden boots as well as gloves with black details on them.
The details on his trinkets were derived from the ancient art of the Abyss. It was filled with curved and polygonal marks that depicted death and suffering.
"So, do we fight, or do we just stare at each other?" Midnight asked before he disappeared from where he stood and reappeared in front of Death. A smirk was widely plastered on his face.
"Deathless Suffering!" Midnight cast. He fired three swirling snake-like energy at Death. The attack surrounded Death a couple of times, twisting around him simultaneously.
"What is this?" Death growled as he suffered from the pain. "This is the attack of the Forsaken. How dare you copy his attack?"
He broke free from the attack by using his utmost power. He created an explosion outside of his body that forced the snakes to expand to their maximum length before they rip apart.
"This is a crime," Death muttered breathlessly. "You have no respect for the ruler of the Abyss."
"I don't," Midnight said. "How could I respect a tyrant who knows nothing but death and destruction? Who spreads chaos in his wake and wrath wherever he feels like it?"
"Are you describing the Angel?" Death laughed. "It seems to me like you're describing the ones that everyone respected. They are the ones who are the real evil here, not us."
"Say that to the people you killed," Midnight said. "When you meet them in the Afterlife."
Their fists clashed. Death and Midnight. It created a destructive force that pushed even the air around them.
The force was so great that it shook the Palace lightly. The Azure Palace was far from where they are and for it to shake like that says something about the strength that these two possess.
"How come I have never seen this form of him?" Galaxia asked. "About five years ago, he was flexing everything that he owned."
"Correction, you followed him on his quests," Sun sighed. "That was why you saw everything in his arsenal."
"But this one is new," Hope said. "After our fight with the synthetic Forsaken in Irus's realm, he copied the Dark magic and composition of that entity, thus earning him a new form."
"He's not done though," Sun said. "There is still a trick up his sleeve."
They watched as the fight progressed. Midnight was fighting Death and their battle was getting more and more serious. They were now launching multiple attacks at once while simultaneously defending from the attacks of the other.
"What is this?" Death asked himself. "How come he has almost the same power as the Forsaken? This is impossible."
"I thought my magic was to morph into different creatures and beasts," Midnight said. "But I was wrong. It was to take and steal cells from a black entity and multiply it in my body to recreate the exact form of that black entity. Leviathan provided me the cells, that was why I got so many forms."
"What?" Death asked. "So you have seen the Forsaken?"
"No," Midnight said. "A battle not long ago allowed me to synthesize the cells in my body. Now I have this form."
"This power…" Midnight clenched his fist. "I believe this can defeat Malice once and for all. And you are standing in between me and that goal."
Death narrowed his eyes. "True. But there is one thing that you have to know."
"And what is that?" Midnight asked. "Do you want to say your last wishes?"
"No," Death said. "The Forsaken gave each of the Guards the power to seal him. Now, since you are him. I won't have a problem casting it."
